This house is to be a part of, and vessel for, a large contemporary art collection. Great 20th century works by Bruce Nauman, Robert Ryman, Jeff Koons and Jannis Kounellis are part of the collection which includes important video artworks.Designed to house a contemporary art collection, internally, the house sets out to be a blank canvas, not to distract from the works held within.The terrazzo floor was laid before any inside walls were built, so the interior walls can be moved if the owners decide to rearrange the spaces.Currently a 2 bedroom home, the residence can become 3 bedrooms. Between the two spaces lies the gallery and living area, a perfect space for the owner to enjoy the collection.

To the rear are the dining and kitchen areas, located to soak up the views down to the nearby Camelback Mountain. A contemplative study joins these rooms at the rear, cool in summer no doubt as the doors to both the pool behind and rear yard would form a breeze-way of cooled air.The rear, with overhands for shading, is the largest expanse of light giving glass.

Constructed of tilt-up concrete walls, the flat and rotated nature of the walls merges with the simple orthogonal requirements of the interiors for art. Shape extensions and light and air chimneys connected to cooling pools articulate the planar geometry. From a courtyard experienced at the entry of sequence, a ramp leads to a rooftop sculpture garden – a place of silence and reflection.

Natural cooling techniques are employed inside, with the overhead light shafts linking to cooling pools on the floor below, a technique which combined with minimal unshaded glass, would keep air con bills to a minimum.

Windows and skylights, strategically placed, send beams of light across interior walls and floors.

While this 3,350 sq. ft. home is uber-utilitarian by design, it’s not all concrete and glass.A private courtyard with 40-foot lap pool, a cactus garden, and a rooftop space that boasts spectacular views of Camelback Mountain, downtown Phoenix, The Preserve and more.

It is uses raw Concrete and Corten Steel to create a great prefabricated home and art gallery for it's owner.

Steven Holl Architects is a firm consisting of 40-member innovative staff that works with architecture and urban design based in New York City and Beijing. Holl co-owns the firm with partners Chris McAvoy and Noah Yaffe, working internationally with extensive experience in the arts (museums, galleries, and exhibition designs), campus and educational architecture, and residential work. Other projects include retail design, offices, public facilities, and master planning.Paolo Soleri Studios constructed oval brass plates that attach to the tilt-up concrete walls. Steven Holl Architects designed almost everything in the home including the brass door handles and the cabinetry.

改變原本的微氣候系統原本受限於高低差

使的水氣無法完全平均所以將模型放置原來的基地

照水氣及溫度的走向進行塊體堆疊使內部微氣候達到平衡

怎麼用隙縫造成內部的空間感受?我發現人的潛意識看到地上畫出一段光線會去延伸對空間尺度的想像

直到光線停留在另一道牆因為他是先建構內牆在立起外牆控制光的隙縫

因此此發展主要是思考內部陰影處以及視覺的延伸空間我將塊體用光刀切割

切割的方式是延伸到中央這樣可使量體光線密度產生較不均質的狀態

陰影也比較能被體現在外牆旁

利用透光與不透光的選擇再次定義空間尺度此時我改善了在planar house中私人區域的隱私度

我認為如果將私人區域移至二樓就能用高度有效劃分公私區域

至於隔間的部分都是來自於第二階段分割出來的內部量體在做一點尺度及材料的替換因為當我用到了透光材質光線就得以切割延伸空間

從印度相片可以證明我們在熱帶地區生活時對於陰影的需求因此得到適合利用的空間配置

加上牆壁厚度東邊面對冷風的牆比其他牆厚

然後確定尺度及光線而開窗只是先單純用挖洞的方式處理幫助大致理解要開幾個縫隙導入光線

最後正模將整塊量體再次以用光刀切割不僅是屋頂和外牆還包刮一二樓底板

這時的縫隙是用一二樓需求的疊合進行取捨並使切割路徑通過中央天井

從天井往上看會有光製造的特殊的空間氛圍而內部的隔間牆則在一次的強化他先建構內牆的概念

把她想像成有一條圍著外牆的流通空間重新定義入口及空間的位置

而不是用挖洞來開門

在這裡發現一些有順序性及裂縫的元素因此將題目自訂為「空間現象-序.裂」

我試圖利用身體去記錄這些元素彼此尺度的關係用步伐數紀錄看到的畫面

我將這些元素分為序的空間 裂的空間 序的材料 裂的材料

將序裂的焦點集中在第三十三步時看到的畫面我認為他序及裂的空間現象最為特別

所以我用這裡的概念做出一系列概念模

在三十三步的照片可清楚看到因為樹根的裂裂出了取代水泥的空間

蠻有趣的是他們材質一軟一硬但因為裂 軟能勝過硬

我去觀察他的縫隙發現他有一種時間及空間的序及裂關係

他們都依著一個軸承有著特定的序

而當中被裂化的物質一開始受到扭曲的外力然後不斷壓縮裂化最後碎化

這組概念模是我分析被裂化者是被甚麼樣的序取代也可以說是樹根虛空間的變化過程

揣摩分析這種透過序與裂取代它物空間的消長變化用線條表示生長線

我認為遇到阻礙時的線條速度較慢線條也許因為阻礙或陽光而偏向某一個方向

這是我分析三個時間點他的取代過程一開始

他會先去包覆阻礙的物質然後透過時間空間序逐漸去裂化碎化進而取代空間

但是阻礙並不會永遠就消失也許在他的生命裡

這個時候新的阻礙又生成我用方象徵非自然因素 圓象徵自然因素

而取代不同阻礙的時間也不會一樣例如:也許長方形的碎裂過程就明顯的比橢圓形慢而取代非自然物質的時間不一定永遠比自然物質慢

而且在已經取代過的區域也有可能在重疊到另一個新阻礙的生成

將分析疊合獲得自己的空間序列層次及交錯關係作為我正模的空間關係圖

從圖面上可以看出他們這個方向的前後關係前後關係出來之後象徵阻礙的虛空間聚集在中心處

所以我認為速度也會在中間較慢而速度快的兩側空間則逐漸縮減
