Since 1994, the South Texas Blood and Tissue Center (STBTC) has been serving the needs of Texas communities, the U.S. and countries around the world with the life-changing gift of human tissue for transplant. STBTC is the only American Association of Tissue Banks (AATB) accredited full service program in Texas.

With more than 15 years experience, Tissue Services has unsurpassed expertise in developing, implementing and maintaining the highest standards of service. Our state-of-the-art facilities and equipment, including Class 100 Clean Rooms, allow us to produce the safest and most precise components.

While serving more than 60 procurement and distribution contracts, we provide quality tissue allografts for physicians and the communities we serve. STBTC also houses its own processing center. Processing our own tissue inhouse eliminates the need to work through outsourced organizations, allowing us to have more control over the costs of the allografts we collect and services we provide.

History of Tissue Services

1994STBTC begins its Musculoskeletal Tissue

Services program.

1996STBTC becomes the first Blood & Tissue Center in North America to

become registered by the International Standards Organization (ISO 9000).

The Bereavement Education & Support Taskforce was created to help grieving families cope with

the loss of a loved one.

2000

2001 Tissue began providing allografts to other parts of

the world.

2006Tissue recovery increased by 66%

within five years and provides allografts to more than 5,300

patients.

2007Tissue partners with its 47th

hospital to provide life-changing allografts.

2008Tissue received a grant from the

Department of Health Services for community based education for

minority donors.

2009Tissue began manufacturing

specialty allografts with specialized equipment.

Community OutreachOver the past 15 years, Tissue Services has grown tremendously by becoming active within the community. As a partner of Donate Life, our group joins together with the local organ and eye banks through a volunteer group called Vital Alliance. Together, we work to promote the ongoing and urgent need for organ, tissue and cornea donors through tree planting ceremonies, run/walks and other community awareness events.

Tissue Services also attends blood drives and other STBTC events to encourage blood donors to register to donate life. Because of its community awareness efforts, Tissue Services is helping to close the gap between recipients and donors.

customers by providing products and services which complywith regulatory standards and requirements.
