It was great to see your children’s faces this morning. I missed them. I

Marana School’s 2340 Foundation will award four
scholarships at Marana High School in the amount of
$2,500 per student. The scholarships will be awarded at
the 2340 Foundation Celebration of Excellence Luncheon
to be held on March 13, 2015.

A recipient of this scholarship will have one academic year in which to spend his/her
award on tuition, textbooks, educational supplies or housing for their post-secondary
education. Students must have been enrolled in the Marana Unified School District for
their full K-12 experience to quality for this scholarship. If your student has not been
contacted by MHS staff already, please have him/her pick-up an application in the
Counseling Office. Remember, applications are due by January 16, 2015.
Opportunity to Earn Lost Math Credit (for free)
Attention Juniors and Seniors who still need credit for second semester Algebra 1 or
second semester Geometry! Credit retrieval classes will be offered after-school
starting Tuesday, January 13th. Retrieval classes will be on Tuesday and Wednesday
from 3:50 – 5:45 PM in room G-10. Students will be enrolled in the after-school class
for up to 7 weeks for each semester they need to retrieve. Only one absence is
allowed during the 7 weeks. If a student is absent a second time, they will be
dropped from the class. If there is no space available for your student during the
first 7 weeks, there will be a waiting list. When a student completes their course or
is dropped, the next student on the waiting list will be enrolled. Seniors who are on-
track for graduation will be given priority placement. This class is free.
Only the students themselves can ask for their name to be put on the list. Requests
for enrollment into the class will not be taken from parents, counselors, or case
managers.

Marana Athletic News
The Culture, Commitment and Competitiveness philosophy is strong and vibrant on our
courts, fields, and mats.
Recruiting and NCAA Seminar 7:00 pm at Marana HS Library - On January 14th,
2015, Marana High School will have a representative from Dynamite Sports coming to
provide parents and athletes with the necessary and realistic expectations to become a
college athlete. Academic and athletic information needed for your Tiger to meet NCAA
requirements and to be recruited into a college will be provided. Free materials to
increase SAT/ACT scores will be shared. Parents must come with their athlete. Hope to
see you there.

Hopefully everyone had an active and restful break. There were great accomplishments
in our winter sports tournaments. We are clearly showing Tiger Pride in every sport
and gain from the buy-in to our 3C’s philosophy. We have amazing talent and more W’s
this season. We would love to see you at our games!
