Novena—Fri Nov. 12

Nov 7-13

Good morning SLR Family and Friends! On behalf of St. Lorenzo's Confirmation and Youth Ministry Team, Thank You all for your overwhelming generosity, presence and support at our Trunk Or Treat parish fellowship last Saturday! It was a huge success!!! The kids were thrilled to finally get back together with friends and family after being isolated at home due to the Pandemic. The Youth and their families had a blast decorating their car trunks, playing games and watching their kids parade down the aisles participating in the Costume Contest. It was an amazing turnout! A special Thank You to our Trunk Or Treat Coordinators, Michael Mutuc, our new Youth Leader and James Rondolos, our Lead Usher, Tech, and new EME Minister for organizing this incredible fellowship! It really brought our SLR Community together once again as you can see the joy and smiles on everyone’s face! We express our sincere appreciation and gratitude to you all, especially the SLR Ministry Leaders and members who extended their support and generosity with their presence and Gift Card, Food, Drinks, Candy and Monetary Donations. A special thank you to: Norma Jean Peguero, the Knights of Columbus with Ronamy Milo, Alfonso and Martha Barba, Nol and Connie Tabangay, Al and Kathy Worland and Fernando Perez, Maritz & MM Angeles, Judy Vargas, Sheila Sobretodo, Christina Anguiano, Maria Ortiz, Bong Anonas, Becky Salgado, Wilma Najera, JCris Ronquillo, Vangie Sia, Lalap Mamangun and friends, Connie Tungpalan, Bambi Guerrero and for all other donors…you know who you are and those who were there in spirit! Thank you so much to all SLR Families and Friends for your support! To Father Charles and Father Bryan, the Youth truly appreciate your presence and for being our judges for our Costume and Trunk Contests and for your overall support! To Father Tony, we thank you for your unconditional Love, Support and Inspiration to our Youth always! We continue to unite as one in prayer for your continued healing and strength and for our SLR Parish Family to continue to grow and flourish. God Bless you and your families evermore! Sincerely in Christ, Mary Anne Garcia & the Confirmation and Youth Ministry Team

The Courage to Give “From her poverty...” (Mark 12:44)

Some people find it hard to give even from their

surplus. For some, it could be due to fear of

losing what they have worked or earned for so

many years. For the widow in the Gospel today,

she had the courage to give all she had, even to

the last penny. She has the basic needs for food,

clothing, shelter but she didn’t hesitate to give it

all. What matters is giving to God what is due to

Him and trusting that He will take care of you.

From the various sharing I heard from prayer

meetings I attend, I have heard testimonies of

how God has been gracious and merciful when

one gives joyfully without counting the cost. The

return is great and unexpected and even more

than what one has contributed. For some, the

unexpected return is not measured in terms of

money but in things like healing of an incurable

illness, the conversion of a family member who

has separated from the church for many years, or

acquiring a property that one has been praying

for a long time. God knows what each one needs,

what each on of us longs for, and God asks that

one shares from the heart. In return for giving all,

He will give you what your heart truly desires.

“Praise The Lord, my soul!” (Psalm 146)

God bless you, Sheila Sobretodo Coordinator, SLR Come Down Zacchaeus Program

Prayer for Priestly Vocations

Father, in every generation you provide ministers of Christ and the Church. We come before you now, ask-ing that you call forth more men to serve our Archdi-ocese in the ministerial Priesthood. Give us priests who will lead and guide your holy people gathered by Word and Sacrament. Bless us with priestly voca-tions so that we can continue to be a truly eucharistic Church, strengthened in our discipleship of Jesus Christ, your only Son. Raise up, we pray, men who are generous in their service, willing to offer their lives and all their gifts for your greater glory and for the good of your people. We make our prayer in the presence and power of the Holy Spirit, through Christ, Our Lord. Amen

…’where earth meets heaven’

As I was parking my car at work this morning, two words kept popping in my mind: holy ground. So, I paused for a moment to reflect as to why this place is a holy ground. I realized that for ten years now God has been providing me with everything I needed and everything my family needs through this job. I guess this is holy round because this is where God has opened the floodgates of heaven to provide, sustain and take care of my needs. This is where His abun-dance flows. This is holy ground because this is also where I can use my gifts and talents to make a difference in the lives of those I get in contact with, a place where I get to live my life’s purpose. Because this is holy ground, like Moses I must remove my sandals (figuratively) as I ap-proach this workplace for this is where God meets me. This is where earth meets heaven.

Greetings from our St. Lorenzo Ruiz Community!

Together in Mission, now in its 28th year, continues to improve the lives of our brothers and sisters in the poorest and most vulnerable

parishes in the Archdiocese. Our very own SLR family has successfully supported this cause year after year with our financial contributions. Thanks

to generous people like you.

Thank you for being one of our constant TIM supporters. This year has been quite a challenge to meet our goal. To date, we have only collected $53,000 of our target $76,041. Only 301 of our almost 3000 registered families have responded to the campaign.

Your support of Together in Mission is a

beautiful expression of your Christian duty to love one another as God has loved us. Again, we thank you and we cannot thank you enough for your care and support.

THE GIVING TREE

You may have seen it in years

passed...a brightly decorated tree

in the vestibule of our church with

ornaments that list baby items for

families in need. In fact, you may

have picked up one of the

ornaments and brought back a

wrapped item.

Each year, St. Lorenzo Youth Ministry

sponsors The Giving Tree. It’s a

project that has been near and dear to

the youth for over a decade. The

youth of our parish collect, sort, and

distribute items such as baby wipes,

diapers, formula and other necessities

to various pregnancy help centers

around the San Gabriel Valley, but

most especially to the Bethany Center

at St. Martha. It is something that they

look forward to every year and it is

with the generous help of the

community that our youth ministry is

able to sprinkle a little bit of

Christmas magic around our

community. Thank you for your

unwavering support for such an

invaluable program.

The Giving Tree will be set up on Nov. 27.

Donations will be sorted and distributed

the week of Dec 20th.

A fun-filled day for our kids!

Blessed are you, Lord our God, keeper of the Book of Life. Today we remember and pray for those friends and family members who have passed through the doorway of death. We remember and

pray, too, for their families. Support them in their loss with the consolation of your Holy Spirit. We pray for ourselves as well. May their death be for us a holy message of how not to waste our today, or be unprepared for the arrival of our own death. May we best remember those who have gone before us by being grateful for the life today and by loving you, Lord our God, keeper of the Book of Life.
