POWERPLANT ENGINE: Garrett TPE331-10
FUEL: - JET A, JET B, JP-4, or JP-5. If jet fuel is not available, aviation gasoline, MIL-G-5572, all grades, may be used, not in excess of 250 gallons per 100 hours of operation may be used for emergency fuel operation. Total gasoline usage must be limited to 7,000 gallons during any 3,000 hour period. ENGINE LIMITS:

STARTER: Maximum starter duration is three minutes. Allow a five minute cooling off period for the starter between starting attempts.
AIRSTARTS: Normal airstarts are approved for sea level to 12,000 feet altitude and from 100 mph to 159 mph airspeed. (See Emergency Procedures, Section 3)

NOTE Datum is the leading edge of the wing.
Maximum Weight 6,000 pounds
C.G. Range for SINGLE and DUAL COCKPIT: Forward Limit at 6,000 pounds is 26.5 inches AFT of Datum. Forward Limit at 4,000 pounds is 24.0 inches AFT of Datum. (Straight line variation between 4,000 and 6,000 #) AFT Limit at all weights is 30.0 inches AFT of Datum.
NOTE It is the responsibility of the airplane owner and the pilot to insure that the airplane is properly loaded. See the Weight and Balance Section for loading information.
MANEUVERS RESTRICTED CATEGORY
Restricted Category flight maneuvers shall be limited to those normally performed in special purpose operations and approved by Administrator.
TYPES OF OPERATION The Model S2R-G10 aircraft is approved for day and night VFR flight conditions. Flight into known icing conditions is PROHIBITED.
GROUND OPERATION The Pilot should monitor the engine instruments for operation within limits during all ground operations.

SECTION 2 NORMAL PROCEDURES
DEFINITIONS
WARNING Personal injury or loss of life could result if the operating procedures and techniques are not followed carefully.
CAUTION Damage to equipment could result if the operating procedures and techniques are not followed carefully.
NOTE This is used when it is essential to emphasize an operating procedure or technique.
Airspeeds: All airspeeds in this Section are Indicated Airspeeds (IAS) in Miles per Hour (MPH), unless otherwise noted.
VISUAL INSPECTION
NOTE Visually check aircraft for general condition during walk-around inspection. Verify that all skin panel Cam-Locs are fastened. In cold weather, remove all accumulations of frost, ice, or snow from wing, tail and control surfaces. Check that control surfaces contain no internal accumulations of ice. If a night flight is planned, check operation of all lights and assure a flashlight is available.

34. Engine Inlet CHECK for condition of first stage centrifugal compressor. 35. P2T2 Sensor Probe CHECK for general condition. 36. Oil Cooler CHECK for leaks and stoppage. 37. Battery Vent Outlet CHECK, for obstruction 38. Dispersal Equipment (if installed) CHECK the windmill, the pump, the
hose, the spreader, the mounting, and so forth. 39. Engine CHECK for oil leaks, fuel leaks, loose fittings, cracked exhaust
stacks and excessive dirt or corrosion. 40. Oil Quantity CHECK dipstick and secure cap. 41. Oil By-Pass Indicator CHECK.
42. Wheel Chocks REMOVE. 43. Fuel Quantity CHECK, visually and secure the cap. 44. Main Wheel Tire CHECK for inflation, damage and wear. 45. Right Fuel Vent Sump DRAIN.

NOTE Keep the wing leading edge clean. An excessive build-up of dirt, bugs, and chemicals can have the same negative
effect on lift as an accumulation of ice or frost.

STARTING ENGINE (Continued)
CAUTION
DO NOT ATTEMPT AN ENGINE START WITHOUT PROPELLER ON START LOCKS
NOTE Engine starts can be made with the aircraft battery power, or with auxiliary electrical power. However, it is recommended that an auxiliary power unit be used when ambient air temperature is ten degrees F. or below. Ensure that ground power unit (aux power) is regulated to 28 volts dc, and is capable of providing a minimum of 24 volts dc, 800 amperes during start cycle.
7. Negative Torque System Check The NTS System should be checked during the first start of the day or if a malfunction of the system is suspected. To accomplishes the check, do the following during starting: A. NTS Light PRESS to test. B. Unfeathering Pump Switch ON C. NTS Check Switch ON D. NTS Light CHECK ON E. Engine Starter Ground position (Carry out normal start) F. NTS Light OUT when starter is engaged G. NTS Light On at 10 to 30 percent RPM
8. Engine Starter Ground position 9. Ignition Switch ON at 10% RPM minimum
CHECK IGNITION LIGHT ON PRIOR TO OPERATING FUEL SWITCH.
CAUTION
10. Engine Fuel Switch ON at 10% RPM minimum.

CAUTION
IF LIGHT OFF IS NOT INDICATED WITHIN TEN SECONDS OR 20% RPM, REJECT THE START BY
ACTIVATING THE EMERGENCY SHUT-OFF LEVER.
11. Fuel Enrichment Switch ON until approximately 680 degrees EGT (maximum during start is 770 degrees). Then regulate enrichment switch to obtain satisfactory rpm increase and temperature.
CAUTION
IF RPM STOPS INCREASING PRIOR TO 40%, OR IF EGT IS APPROACHING LIMITS (770 DEGREES C.) AND RISING
RAPIDLY, ACTIVATE THE EMERGENCY SHUT OFF LEVER. 12. Engine Instruments CHECK
A. RPM 72% Minimum B. Fuel Pressure 8 PSIG Minimum C. Oil Pressure 40 PSIG Minimum
CAUTION
IF OIL PRESSURE IS NOT INDICATED WITHIN TEN SECONDS AFTER LIGHT-OFF, SHUT DOWN ENGINE AND DETERMINE CAUSE.
13. Starter OFF 14. Generator ON and charging normally 15. Warning Lights CHECK and consider 16. If NTS check was accomplished:
A. Unfeathering Pump Switch OFF B. NTS Check Switch OFF
DRY MOTORING RUN 1. Allow three minutes for fuel and vapors to drain from the engine before
attempting re-start. 2. Motor the engine with the starter (prop on locks) with fuel and ignition
off.

may be utilized for taxiing. Push the stick forward to unlock tail wheel.
3. Brakes CHECK

EMERGENCY PROCEDURES GROUND ENGINE FIRE See DRY MOTORING RUN under Ground Operation, Section 2.
IN-FLIGHT ENGINE FIRE In case of an in-flight fire, the following procedures should be used:
1. Emergency Cut-Off Lever CUT OFF 2. Engine Fuel Switch OFF 3. Fuel Auxiliary Pump Switch OFF 4. Fuel Valve OFF
IN-FLIGHT ENGINE SHUT DOWN The following procedure should be used to shut down the engine in flight:
NOTE In the unlikely event of a shutdown in flight due to fuel starvation or an engine problem, the negative torque sensing system will increase propeller blade angle toward feather at the optimum rate to reduce drag. This decreases the urgency of feathering the engine and allows the pilot to concentrate on control of the aircraft.
1. Emergency Cut Off Lever CUT OFF 2. Power Lever FULL FORWARD
NOTE Moving the power lever fully forward drives the propeller blade to the lowest angle of attack in the event the feather valve or NTS system has not functioned properly.

ENGINE FLAME-OUT The symptoms of an engine flame-out will be a drop in the exhaust gas temperature, torque meter pressure and RPM. The flame-out may result from the engine running out of fuel, or possibly may be caused by unstable engine operation. Once the fuel supply has been restored to the engine or the cause of the unstable operation eliminated, the engine may be restarted in the manner described under Air Starts, following.

ELECTRICAL FIRE IN FLIGHT (Continued) If electrical power is essential for the flight, attempt to identify and isolate the faulty circuit as follows:
1. Generator Switch ON 2. If Generator Circuit is Defective, Generator Switch OFF, then Battery
Switch ON. 3. Turn on each circuit individually. Allow a short period of time before
proceeding from one circuit to the next until the defective circuit is identified.
4. Defective Circuit OFF.
EMERGENCY EGRESS If it if necessary to remove the cockpit door from its hinges, do the following:
1. KNOCK OUT the oval panel below the window. 2. REACH through the hole and PULL UP the flexible hinge pin. This
releases the door at the hinge. 3. PUSH the door clear of the aircraft and EXIT.
FOR DUAL COCKPIT AIRCRAFT: If it if not desired to release the door from its hinges, but it is desired to exit the aircraft in the normal manner, do the following:
1. The front cockpit door must be closed in order for the rear occupant to deplane.
2. The rear occupant can deplane by using the step in the left side of the fuselage below the front door.
GENERATOR FAILURE 1. RESET Generator 2. If Generator is not restored, accomplish the following:
a. All nonessential electrical equipment OFF. NOTE
If Generator Fails, Air conditioner will not work because it is powered directly off the generator.
