Ball State recruit Kiah Parrott led
the Lady Kats (175) over the
Logansport Berries (194) by tying
her 9-hole school record.
Kiah shot a 4-under 32 to lead the
way. Haley Salinas came in with a
45, Molly Mavrick shot a 48 and
Layla Andrysiak came in with a 50.
Elizabeth Lytle came in with a 52.
This match put us over the half way
mark in our schedule. It improved
our 9-hole record to 6-0 this year.
This week will really put the season
in perspective when we host
Western and Tipton on Thursday.
This will show us where we stand
three weeks before sectionals.
Saturday we will see how we stand
on the regional course when we play
Battleground.
Until next tee time,
Coach Carpenter
Kiah Parrott Tied her own school record for
nine holes by firing a 4-under-
par 32.
The Wildkats traveled to Lafayette to take on the Harrison Raiders in North
Central Conference action Monday night and fell 3-0 to the hosts.
The Wildkats were under pressure early and often, but rallied defensively
to keep the Raiders at bay for much of the first half.
Freshman goalkeeper Joey McConnell registered a penalty kick save to
keep the Raiders off the board and the score tied at zero with 15 minutes
remaining in the first half. Moments before the half, the Raiders scored on
a free kick to go into the half up 1-0.
The Wildkats were blitzed from the opening kick of the second half,
conceding a shot from 22 yards out just 21 seconds into the half to go down
2-0.
Though McConnell registered 16 saves on the night, it was not enough to
propel the Wildkats to victory.
Center back andjunior captain Bryan Stoltzfus and senior captain Gabrial
Araujo Lage logged complete games and both thwarted many Raider
attacks and helped to create a few good goal scoring opportunities.
The men of the match are McConnell and Araujo Lage.
The JV team (1-2-0) dropped a tough decision to Harrison 5-0. Sophomore
goalkeeper Aaron Galles registered 19 saves in the loss.
The Wildkats (1-2-0) travel Thursday to cross country rival Northwestern
to take on the Tigers.

Four North Central Conference teams won their season openers last weekend.
Lafayette Jeff and West Lafayette were involved in a high-scoring shootout with the Bronchos
prevailing 74-66. Red Devil quarterback Kyle Adams and Jeff quarterback Maximus Grimes
combined for 958 passing yards. Adams passed for 554 and seven touchdowns; Grimes threw
for 409 and two scores. And while passing highlighted the action, Jefferson’s running back
Marquis Munoz perhaps was the difference in the game as he rushed for 202 yards and five
touchdowns, including four in the second half. Jeff’s Bishop Johnson had a 53-yard touchdown
reception and a 96-yard kickoff return score, and Derrick Matthews finished with eight
receptions for 141 yards.
Marion, top ranked in Class 4A, used their speed to down Eastbrook 35-19. Khalid Stamps
scored touchdowns on runs of 61-, 62-, and 9-yards, all in the second half to lead the Giants.
Richmond Red Devils opened the season with a 41-21 win over Connersville. Wyatt Byrd had
215yards rushing and recorded a pair of touchdowns, and freshman quarterback Drew VanVleet
threw for 154 yards and four touchdowns. Sophomore Marquis Johnson caught three passes for
109 yards with all three resulting in touchdowns.
Harrison got nice season-opening performances from Tyler Knoy and Omarion Dixon, but the
Raiders fell to Westfield 55-28. Knoy, a sophomore, was 10-for-20 in the passing department
for 215 yards, while the junior Dixon led the ground game with 169 yards on 28 carries.
McCutcheon lost to Guerin Catholic 24-14. Maverick quarterback Mason Douglas threw to
Josh Garcia for one of the McCutcheon touchdowns.
Logansport’s Josh Manfred had a night to remember rushing the football, but the Berries were
manhandled by Peru 48-21. Manfred gained 207 yards on the ground in 18 carries, including
touchdown runs of 31 and 92 yards in the first half when he gained 157 yards. Logan junior
quarterback Garrett Barron was 7-of-18 passing for 93 yards and had 52 yards rushing.
Anderson could muster just six first downs and 114 yards of total offense in an 18-0 loss to
Yorktown. Junior quarterback Marcus Armstrong was 8-of-17 passing for 59 yards and led the
Indians in rushing with 50 yards on 18 carries. Malachi Qualls, who led the state in receptions
for Anderson a year ago, had three catches for 43 yards.
Muncie Central crossed midfield just once in their 42-0 loss to Delta.
Arsenal Tech opened their season with a 38-17 thumping of Indianapolis Washington.
