Twentieth Annual Spring Break WEEKEND May 13-14, 2016 BANKRUPTCY BAR ASSOCIATION For The District of Maryland 7200 Wisconsin Avenue Suite 800 Bethesda, MD 20814-4842 12 Great Sessions Available Educational Program Sponsored by Cocktail Party Sponsored by Atlantic Auctions, Inc., Auction Markets, LLC, Cornerstone Capital Lending, EisnerAmper LLP, Gallagher Evelius & Jones LLP, Stout Risius Ross Inc., and Verity LLC What does the bankruptcy crystal ball show? Will we start to see more involuntary bankruptcy cases? Will we see more litigation in consumer cases involving mortgage issues? What about more litigation arising out of asset protection plans? The bankruptcy crystal ball is cloudy, but have no fear. The Twentieth Annual Spring Break Weekend will include continuing legal education programs on these issues and much more. We welcome BBA members and non-members, consumer and corporate practitioners and non- bankruptcy lawyers seeking to gain practical bankruptcy knowledge. Don’t miss your opportunity to participate in riveting continuing legal education programs led by members of the bar and judges. Don’t miss your opportunity to hobnob with judges, members of the bar, friends and colleagues at the Cocktail Party at the Annapolis Waterfront Hotel. Finally, don’t miss your opportunity to hear our esteemed speaker for our luncheon, Kevyn D. Orr of Jones Day. Kevyn served as Emergency Manager of the City of Detroit and oversaw the largest and most complicated municipal bankruptcy proceeding in the nation’s history. Kevyn’s experience also includes advising Chrysler with regard to all aspects of its bankruptcy. This year’s Spring Break Weekend is special for another reason. We are dedicating the Weekend to our own beloved Judge Paul Mannes, who passed away on January 20, 2016. Judge Mannes served with distinction for 34 years including 16 years as Chief Judge. Judge Mannes genuinely loved his job and served as a mentor to many of us. He will truly be missed. We are grateful to our Maryland Bankruptcy Judges, visiting Judges and special guests who will share their unique perspectives during the Weekend. As usual, we will request, and expect to receive, approved CLE credits from Virginia, Delaware and Pennsylvania. I look forward to seeing you on May 13 – 14 at the Loews Annapolis Hotel. Stephen A. What does the bankruptcy crystal ball show? Will we start to see more involuntary bankruptcy cases? Will we see more litigation in consumer cases involving mortgage issues? What about more litigation arising out of asset protection plans? The bankruptcy crystal ball is cloudy, but have no fear. The Twentieth Annual Spring Break Weekend will include continuing legal education programs on these issues and much more. We welcome BBA members and non-members, consumer and corporate practitioners and non-bankruptcy lawyers seeking to gain practical bankruptcy knowledge.
