DEACON NOMINATIONS
Yes, it’s that time of year… Deacon nominations are
just around the corner. We’re in the process of
producing our master list for the nomination process.
If you do NOT want your name on the list of people open to deacon nomination,
please contact the church office as soon
as possible. We’ll publish the list for deacon nomination on August 16th. Please remember that both men and women are
eligible for nomination! Remember, if you do NOT want to be considered for deacon nomination, please call the church office at 456-9465 TODAY. Your cooperation on this
matter is greatly appreciated!
Don’t forget - International Festival Day is
Saturday, July 30 and your help is still needed:
8:00-10:00am: Prepare food for the dancers, etc.;
11:30am-1:30pm: Serve food to the dancers, etc.;
1:00-2:00pm: Cleanup. If you have any questions
or want to help with lunch, call Nancy Fish at (828)
768-1344. You can also make a financial donation
to help offset the cost of the food and the Bibles that
are distributed. Please mark your check, Folkmoot.”
Most importantly you can PRAY for Christ’s love to
shine brightly through our service to others.
Schools will be back in session on Monday, August 22 and the students at Waynesville Middle School who need help with school supplies will need them at that time… so NOW is the time for our church to begin collecting ONLY THE ITEMS LISTED BELOW:
1) Index Dividers with Insertable Tabs (5-count) - fits 3 ring binders - Wear and Tear Resistant (these Casemate Index Dividers can be found at Wal-Mart for $.88 per pack, but feel free to shop anywhere for the best bargain)
2) Binder Pouches - fits standard 3-ring binders (these
can be found at Wal-Mart for $.50, but feel free to shop anywhere for the best bargain)
3) 1½” Durable 3-Ring Binders (D-rings hold more sheets than Standard Round Rings) - Holds 375 sheets (these can be found at Wal-Mart for $5.88 for a 2-pack and are durable enough to last the entire school year, but feel free to shop elsewhere - in this instance, please look for Casemate Durable Binders)
Please remember… ONLY 3 ITEMS are being collected this school year for Waynesville Middle School….

ANNUAL CHURCH PICNIC
On Sunday, August 7, we will make our annual trek to Cataloochee Valley where we will enjoy hot dogs and hamburgers and the fixings (provided by the church) and homemade side dishes and desserts.
Please bring enough to share of the following items listed according to the first initial of your last name:
A-E: Bring vegetables, baked beans, etc.; F-J: Bring salads; K-Q: Bring desserts;
R-Z: Bring appetizers, chips, dips, & drinks.
After we eat, we will worship together at Palmer Chapel, one of the historic churches in the valley. Palmer Chapel dates back to 1898 and was served by circuit preachers in the Western North Carolina
Conference of the Methodist- Episcopal Church. (Bus leaves church at 3:30pm)
Sunday, August 7 - 4:00pm

HAYWOOD COUNTY FOOD INSECURITY= 13.5% of the
population are food insecure! This means almost 8,000 people
in Haywood County DO NOT HAVE ENOUGH FOOD!
Please donate food for Haywood Christian Ministry! The collection containers are located in the
fireplace area. Thank you for your generosity!
Please remember we have our regular Quarterly Business Meeting, this coming Sunday, July 24, in the Sanctuary following our 11:00 worship service. In addition to a number of important reports, we’ll consider revisions to our church policies and to staff job descriptions. Your participation in these meetings is important to the life of our church. We’re working hard to prepare for our new Sunday morning schedule, which will begin on August 7. One important area will be parking. We’ll have more people on campus at one time than we’ve had for some time. We plan to designate as many close parking spaces as we can for handi-capped, guests, and families with young children. If you’re a senior adult, and feel like you need to use a handicapped space, you may do so even if you don’t have an official handicap parking plate. We encourage you to make use of a parking area you may not have considered before: the Post Office lot behind the church. It often has convenient places available, and we have at least two doors on that side of the building open from 7:30 to 11:30 a.m. Some park in the lot in the business across the street. The business owners ask us to remem-ber that they open their business at noon, so if you park over there, please move your car as soon as possible after Connections at 11:15. Also remember parking on the sidewalk is illegal. By not parking on the sidewalk you are a good neighbor to the business and pedestrians, and you may save yourself a ticket from Waynesville PD! I deeply appreciate your prayers and patience as we work out the challenges of our new schedule! See you Sunday!
