When preparing to receive Communion on your tongue please swallow as to eliminate the saliva (we do this to protect those with low immune systems) which will limit the passage of germs from one parishioner to the next. Please note there is always the opon of receiving the Holy Eucharist in your hands. *Advocates of Communion in the hand would point to its consistency with ancient Chrisan pracce.
