▶ Play the game «Word cards and fl ashcards: matching game».Place the word cards in a horizontal line face up in the middle of the circle and hand out the fl ashcards to different students that are sitting in the circle. The teacher says a word (the teacher can use the poster for additional comprehension help). The student who has the picture stands up and puts the fl ashcard under its corresponding word. Gradually add more word cards.

• We’re going to have animal races. First of all, let´s imitate a crab. Now, how does a chimp walk? And a frog?

• Now the fi rst group goes up to the starting line. You are (crabs). Ready, set, go!

▶ Students can make a hare or a tortoise with plasticine. The teacher cuts a big ark shape from a piece of brown card or frieze paper and posts it in the class.

5. LET´S MOVE

▶ Play the game «Word cards and fl ashcards: slow motion game».Place the word cards on the fl oor. Divide the students, who are sitting in the circle, into two teams. The teacher holds a pack of fl ashcards with the pictures facing towards her (the last card should be turned around so it is facing the students but is hidden as it is behind the pack). The teacher slowly pulls the fl ashcard up inch by inch so the students can only see part of the fl ashcard. As the picture is slowly revealed they try and guess what it is. The fi rst student to guess correctly keeps the card (for one point) and then he places it next to the corresponding word card. If he does this correctly, he wins another point for his team. Gradually add more word cards to the game.Variation: to make it a little more diffi cult, turn the fl ashcard upside down.

Language:

• Let´s play a game with the word cards and fl ashcards.• Let´s read these cards. I am going to put them down in

the middle of the circle.• I’m going to divide you into two teams.• I am going to slowly show you a fl ashcard. If you guess

my card, you get one point for your team. If you put it next to the word correctly, you get another point.

▶ Play the game «1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8».The teacher calls out what to do a certain number of times: Jump (six) times! Clap (eight) times!
