ANONYMOUS IS A WOMAN THEATRE COMPANYBLACK TREACLE

A thrilling theatrical experience inspired by Thomas Hardy'sgripping Wessex novel of love, loss, malign destiny and unjustsociety, Tess of the D'Urbervilles (1891).

Featuring evocative live folk music, this excellent dramaimmerses you in the raucous joviality of a 19th-century May Daycountry fête where the fateful relationship between country girlTess and parson's son Angel Clare begins. Music is played, dances are taught, and tragedy unfolds. Evoking both Hardy'slyricism and love of rural life, and his protest against theprejudices of the world he inhabited, this is an outstanding pieceof work.

‘Excavates women's stories with spirit and invention.’ The Guardian (on Anonymous Is A Woman)

LEMPEN PUPPET THEATRELITTLE FRANKENSTEIN

Puppet master Frank Stein isrehearsing his new showGeorge the Dragon Slayer, but his badly made puppetskeep falling apart. Inspiredby his infamous relativeDr Frankenstein, and with thehelp of the audience, hecreates a real living, breathingpuppet to do a better job forhim. 'Creature George'emerges from the workshopinnocent and willing to learn, but Frank is so intent on theplanned rehearsal that heneglects to look after hisnew child. Interpreting MaryShelley's Frankenstein forchildren and families, thisenjoyably bonkers 'gentle littlehorror for little horrors' dealswith the idea of the role of thecreator or parent, and thequestion of life itself.
