The theme I chose for today is, 'Women who have marked the history.“ I chose few women, that have done something in their life that makes them unique. Firstly, I am going to start with a woman who was a great scientist, a woman who won a Nobel prize, twice. Yes, it's Maria Curie. She was born in Poland, and her early life was really sad, because she lost her sister and her mother at a young age. She became a first woman who was allowed to teach, in Paris. After she got married for Pierre Curie, they started working on radioctivity and eventually they discovered radium and polonium. She was the first woman who won a Nobel prize, in 1903, and she did it again 8 years later. So that makes her a first woman who won a Nobel prize, and the only woman who won two Nobel prizes. One for phsyics and other one for chemistry. And, when she was 67, she died form aplastic anemia believed to have been contracted from her long-term exposure to radiation. Second woman I'm going to talk about is famous folk heroin of France, Joan of Arc. She was a child who had visions since early age. She started to claim that God told her that she has to help France in Hundred Years' War, with England. And she did a reckless thing when she was only 14, she went to a battle field and they took her to the king. He gave her a mission to save Orleans, and she was really brave, and in the end she managed to repel Englishmen. And her army, during few moths, defeated English army and Karlo became king of France. She was wounded during the siege of Paris, and Burgundians caught her and she was transfered to England in exchange for money, and she was burned at the stake for heresy when she was only 19 years old. She became saint in 1920. Now, one of my favourite, one of rare writers who have became famous during their lifetime, Jane Austen. A writer who won hearts of a lot of girls, with her romantic, full of irony, novels. She only has one portrait, and it's a sketch of her sister, and now it is in London. She was really good at writing and she published her first story when she was 14. She never got married. And she published some world wide famous books, as Pride and Prejudice, Mansfield Park and Emma, and so on. And for the end, I chose a woman who was all about fashion. She is the one that said : In order to be irreplaceable one must always be different.“ Her name is Gabriel Coco Chanel. She is the one that said : In order to be irreplaceable one must always be different. Her name is Gabriel Coco Chanel. She is being considered as the most immportant person of modern design in 20th century. She made her debut by singing in the cafe-concert, and after that she acquired the name Coco. In 1909 she opened a shop selling the female hats, and it became really popular in Paris. Her biggest inventions are perfume Chanel No.5 and Chanel suits consisting of a skirt to the knee and a jacket. Also she invented a little black dress, that Audrey Hepburn made world popular. You can wear that dress during the day, or night, depends on the accessories. She had a lot of men that wanted to marry her, a lot of affairs, but she never got married. She died in age of 88, in the hotel Ritz which was her home for over 30 years. So, those are four women that did something in her life, that helped others.
