    Bad news, good news

2Ollie Hicks left New Jersey 124 days ago cross the Atlantic in a red row boat. He hoped to break the record of 62 days to cross from west to east, but he broke the record for the slowest crossing. Ol-lie is only 23, so he broke another record: he is youngest person to row across the Atlan-tic. Ollie said it had been very tough but he had no regret. Now I need to have a long rest, he added.

1This week there have been bad floods in Grand Forks, North Dakota, due to the Red River overflowing its banks. A fam-ily in the area decided to leave their home when the water was rising, but before leaving they could not find their dog. Five days later, a vol-unteer named Scott Frederick heard some barking from the garage. The dog was still alive, so Scott man-aged to get the dog into a boat and reunited him with his owners.

    A special speller

4Katharine Close is an eighth grader from Spring Lake, New Jersey. She has just won the Scripps National Spelling Bee contest celebrated in Wash-ington DC. This has been her fifth attempt. She first tried when she was 8, and now she is 13. Last year she came in seventh place, but last night she beat all the other students and received more than $42,000 in cash and prices. Katharine is officially the best speller in the USA. She says she practices spelling every day for an hour or two depending on how much homework she has. Next year, she wont be able to be part of the contest since she will be too old to participate: she will be 14.

    4GOOD NEWSMiraculous rescue

3Brennan Hawkins, an 11-year-old boy from Bountiful, Utah, was on a camping trip with his Boy Scout troop when he got lost in the mountains. His family created a website asking for vol-unteers, and more than 3000 people joined the search to find Brennan. Four days after he disappeared, he was found by two volun-teers, just four miles from the camp. He was hungry and thirsty, but otherwise ok.

Carlos Nuez, the Real Madrid fan, was hugged by Cristiano Ronaldo when he ran to him, in the middle of the second half. He declared to ESPN, I told him I was expect-ing my first boy and he will get his name. He promised me he will visit my baby when he is born. I felt I was being blessed with his words. The match continued without any distraction.

Soccer is the most famous sport in the world, a lot of teams, star players and great spectacles. The passion for a club leads to do many crazy things. That`s what happened on a friendly match in L.A last month between Real Madrid and Ever-ton, where a Real Madrid fan jumped into the pitch and ran to Cristiano Ronaldo; he hugged him before policemen arrested the intrepid fan.

It is expected that Carlos Nuezs sentence will be be-tween three and six months. Cristiano, main figure in the situation, said, I will write a letter to the judge in charge of the case asking Carlos Nuez isnt taken to jail. Gestures like that are to admire. Once again the passion for a club and for specific players may lead to do many crazy things, and Carlos Nunez proves it.

Universidad Nacional is one of the best universities in Colombia. It has always been characterized because is public and encour-ages the students to be the greatest profes-sionals. In this time, policies have changed and the university doesnt get as much money from the state as it did money years ago. The money is managed by the UNALS administration. I dont think that money has been used correctly. Many buildings are not in the best condi-tions because they havent received the correct maintenance; some of them cant be used. Last week, part of Law

    What is happeningwith UNAL?

schools ceiling fell down and students havent has a place to study and they hope to have their school in good conditions very soon. Laboratories have been affected by this situation; they dont have all the tools that are needed to make practices.I recommend that the UNALs administration invest in the maintenance of the buildings and provide the laboratories with enough work materials that permit to continue the learning process of the student. Quality edu-cation requires quality spaces.
