THIS SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 13 BILINGUAL SERVICE AT THE CHAPEL IN THE WOODS—The next bilingual outdoor service will be at 11am on Sunday, September 13 followed by a potluck, bring your favorite dish to share! This is a great venue to invite neighbors or friends to learn about St. Gabriel´s in a very easy going environment! All are welcome! In case of rain we will hold services at Paxton.

INQUIRER’S CLASS STARTING, FRIDAY OCT. 2, 9, 16, and 23rd at 7PM-in the Janney Parlor at St. James—The Inquirer’s Classes are intended to help our formation as Christians by talking about faith identity, how to integrate faith and ac-tion in our lives, learning about the distinctive traditions of the Episcopal Church and of St. Gabriel’s.

The class will include conversations about the history and structure of the Episcopal Church; faith and faith practices; Liturgy and Eucharist; The Book of Common Prayer; The Bible; our different beliefs, ac-tions, and Christian identity at home, work, and our community. Inquirer’s classes are open to partici-pants over the age of18. The classes are also intended for adults who would like to be baptized, received or confirmed, and for those who would like to renew their baptismal vows. If you are interested in knowing more about being baptized, confirmed or received please make contact Fr. Daniel 703-779-3616.

ST. GABRIEL'S ANNUAL MEETING SUNDAY, OCTOBER 4—During the July 22th, 2015 meeting, the vestry voted on and passed a motion to change the St. Gabriel's Annual Meeting to October 4th, 2015 after the 10 AM service at Belmont Ridge Middle School. At the Annual Meeting we will be electing the new class of vestry members as well as kicking off our pledging season. The change to the an-nual meeting gives the vestry an opportunity to develop a better year long vision, path, and plan for the upcoming year while also being able to better address the

hopes and needs of our congregation. There will be a potluck lunch prior to the meeting, please bring a plate to share!

HEALING RAIL THIS SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 13: Our healing and prayer team with be offering healing prayer during the time of communion. Feel free to come to the rail before or after you receive communion. You may request special prayers for yourself or others, or simply come, trusting that God knows your heart.

A NEW PROGRAM YEAR AT CHURCH -With the beginning of the school year the ministries of St. Gabriel’s also pick up momentum as we plan and offer new programs and ministry opportunities that enhance our spiritual development and increase our community presence. All members of the parish will be invited to help with the Labyrinth project at the Chapel in the Woods—stay tuned.

We are still seeking:

Acolytes—For children and teens age seven and above.

Sunday school: teachers and teachers assistants (age 12+ for T.A.’s). Any teens or adult that would like to be a teacher assistant please see Fr. Daniel.

Choir— All talents are welcome, Men especially! Speak to Peter Schweitzer.

Prayer Chain—Seek a coordinator for this ministry. Speak to Fr. Daniel.

READING AHEAD IN THE LECTIONARY– The readings for next Sunday are pro-vided to assist you with your personal spiritual practices. Here are the readings for next Sunday. Read ahead. Mark, learn and inwardly digest. You may hear things you never expected, and it may enrich your experience of worship: Jeremiah 11:18-20, Psalm 54, James 3:13-4:3, 7-8a, Mark 9:30-37.

SAVE THE DATE SATURDAY OCT. 3rd at 4pm at ST. GABRIEL’S CHAPEL IN THE WOODS: THE BLESSING OF THE ANIMALS! Bring all fuzzy, furry, scaly, slimy, crested, colorful creatures of God! Meet at the land (the corner of Battlefield Pkwy and Ft. Evans Rd.; park by Kinkos or by the Middleburg Bank parking lot next to the blue water towers.) Spread the word bring your friends and neighbors and let oth-ers know that St. Gabriel’s loves and blesses ALL of God’s creatures!

MEN’S RETREAT—NOV. 7TH WEEKEND -The St. James’ Men's Ministry is coordi-nating a multi-congregational men’s spiritual and educational retreat and of course the G-Men are most welcome! The theme this year is a study of the Abrahamic faith traditions: Christianity, Judaism, and Islam with an emphasis on history and the in-terplay between the faith traditions. Cost: $125/person. This retreat has been a special time for formation, prayer, rest, and fellowship.

For the church: For St. Gabriel's, as we live into our mission to encounter God, build meaningful relation-

ships, and make a difference in the world each and every day. In thanksgiving for our mother church, St.

James and for the two other church plants in the Diocese of Virginia: St. Mary's in Manakin-Sabot and All

Souls in Mechanicsville.

We pray for our Spanish language service and for the generosity of Paxton Campus where the services are

held.

In the Anglican Cycle of Prayer we pray for the people in the Diocese of South Dakota and their bishop,

The Rt. Rev. John Tarrant.

In the Diocesan Cycle of Prayer we pray for our Episcopal brothers and sisters in their daily lives and for

the Lutheran, Anglican, Roman Catholic, and United Methodist dioceses, synods and conferences in Vir-

ginia and their bishops. We also pray for the clergy and people of Cople, Hague, St. Martin’s, Richmond.

If you are interested in learning more about the sacraments, confirmation and

reception please speak with Fr. Daniel throughout the year. Inquirer’s Classes and catechism for the sacraments are provided for people of all ages. The catechism helps you realize how much you Do know and how wonderful it is to learn throughout your life. It you are interested in making the Episcopal Church your spiritual home you can be “received” by one of our Bishops during confirmation services and in the process you will learn more about The Episcopal Church. Confirmations and Receptions will take place on June 14 2015 at the 10am service.
