Ian grew up in the Chicago area, and joined the United States Marine Corps fresh out of high school. He was honorably discharged after four years, and earned a BA in History from Northern Illinois

University. He then did what everyone expected of him; he embarked on a career as a warehouse manager, got married, started raised two sons, and bought a house in the Chicago suburbs.

But the Universe had other plans.

After a decade, Ian's world fell apart in quick succession. After a divorce and losing his house and job, he packed up the shattered remnants of his life and moved east, finally settling in the river valley of Central Connecticut. From there, he commuted to New York City on a weekly basis and became

a very successful free-lance cartoonist and writer, selling copy and single-panel gag cartoons to the huge and varied magazine market.

Ian was a published poet, but he picked up the guitar for the first time in 2001 and suddenly the prose started manifesting as song lyrics. He had been a performing slam poet for years, so the stage was

no stranger to him... and as his experiences at open mics grew, he discovered his voice and diligently worked on his songwriting craft.

Ian followed his true love to Austin, Texas in 2007 when she was offered a position there, where he is a proud resident and participant in the many forums and events that the Live Music Capitol of the

World has to offer while continuing to make his living as a free-lance cartoonist.

Ian Egan is a singer/songwriter, free-lance cartoonist and writer, a published poet and author, and volunteers teaching cartooning at the SAMS private school in Austin, Texas. Personal Interests include cartooning, writing music, poetry and horror stories, playing open mics around Texas, jamming with the incredibly talented musicians around Austin, recording his songs in his home

studio, loving his gorgeous wife and amazing daughter and sons, and being a responsible member of his vast and varied community.
