MY BRAIN BECAME ALIVE,WHETHER IT WAS ABOUT

OCTOBER
CIRCLE OF FRIENDS
Hello Circle of Friends andNeighborhood families,
It is so hard to believe thatOctober is already here. As wewalk through the stores, you cansee the ramp-up for the holidayseason, not only for Halloweenbut Thanksgiving and, yes, evenChristmas. I hope you allsurvived the heat and humiditythat September brought us;however, as we enter the fallseason, it will be nice to havesome cooler weather comingour way.
We started September offwith our annual Memorial DayBBQ. All of our residents had agreat time eating burgers, hotdogs, chicken and all the fixings. We continued by exploringChina. We got to see not onlythe culture, but how modern
China compared to ancientChina, problems facing theChinese people, and the howtheir customs compare to ours.We got a little more serious aswe discussed the Jewishholidays of ROSH HASHANAHand YOM KIPPUR. In addition toour discussions, we found timeto make some glass artnecklaces, make music in ourdrum circle and show our artistictalents. Our Circle of Friendsvisited the Los Angeles CountyMuseum of Art and the famousWatts Towers, while ourNeighborhood residents enjoyedlunch at Home Town Buffett.
This month we will beexploring Australia. We will lookat its history as a penal colony, its art and culture, and itscuisine. Additionally we aregoing to discuss October Fest, and Halloween.Tiffany Montes-Memory ProgramCoordinator
