TETON

VILLA

GEWelcome to Teton Village. We hope you will sample all the wonderful experiences Teton Village

has to offer and make the most of your stay.

With so many diverse activities in the Village, there is something for the whole family. Stop by the Village Commons to enjoy the pop-jet fountains & playground, where Tuesday through Thursday evenings at 5pm, TVA presents Alive@Five family-friendly programs. On Sundays, you’re invited out to our free Concert on the Commons. Be our guest!

Jackson Hole Mountain Resort is pleased to announce the launch of a new Via Ferrata that will be opening this summer. This assisted rock climbing activity, often called “iron pathways” involves cables and platforms fastened to the sides of mountains. Jackson Hole Mountain Resort’s Via Ferrata will open up some of the classic steep, rugged terrain that the Tetons are known for, and offers the same thrilling, authentic mountain experience in the summer as the winter.

The Village Mix is a publication of Teton Village Association Improvement & Service District. TVA is a local government entity that enhances the guest experience to make Teton Village the #1 destination resort community.

On August 21, 2017, a rare total solar eclipse will traverse the continental United States from Oregon to South Carolina. Jackson Hole and Teton Village happen to fall into the “path of totality” of this Great American Eclipse. That is to say, that in Teton Village and on Rendezvous Peak, we will experience the total eclipse for one of the longest durations possible—2-3 minutes at 11:34am MST.

The partial phases of the eclipse will last 2-3 hours depending on your specific location, starting around 10:15am. Several factors, including fantastic scenery and generally clear summer skies, make Jackson and Teton Village a desirable destination for eclipse viewing.

Jackson Hole Mountain Resort is pre-selling all lift tickets for sightseeing that day, and do anticipate a sellout crowd. For more information, visit www.jacksonhole.com/summer/eclipse-2017.

We’re anticipating a very busy week surrounding the eclipse and ask visitors to get informed to be well prepared—visit www.tetoneclipse.com to make plans to view this special celestial phenomena.

Check with www.tetonvillagewy.org for special events surrounding the eclipse.

Don’t forget special eclipse glasses to protect your eyes.

Yellowstone was the world’s first national park, created in 1872 — 18 years before Wyoming became a state.

Over 15 feature films have been made on location in Jackson Hole including: Any Which Way You Can, Rocky IV, Shane and Django Unchained.

The Village Commons plays host to a wide array of family-friendly summertime activities and events. Free evening programs Tuesdays-Thursdays and Sundays throughout July & August at 5pm.

Over 60 species of mammals, over 100 species of birds, and a half dozen game fish can be found in the Jackson Hole/Yellowstone area. Most notable are big game such as elk, moose, bison, deer, antelope, mountain lion, grizzly and black bears, gray wolf and coyote, rare birds such as the bald eagle, trumpeter swan, blue heron, osprey, and native game fish such as the Snake River cutthroat trout and mountain whitefish.

Grand Teton National Park was created in 1929 and greatly expanded in 1950 due to the efforts of John D. Rockefeller, who purchased and then donated over 30,000 acres.

Wyoming is known as the “Equality State” – Wyoming women were the first in the nation to vote, serve on juries and hold public office.
