Food Bank Fund

“When I was hungry you

gave me something to eat.”

Matt. 25:35

A very big thank you to you

Sunday School Children

who donated a total of 300 Dollars to the Food

Bank Fund at the end of June. You have as-

sured a continued supply of potatoes to needy

families in our area when the outlook was not

good. Praise God for children.

Our deliveries of potatoes to the SHARE Food

Bank in Port Moody are planned for August 8th

and 22nd. Our cost per 50 lbs. has remained at

$8.00 ($256 per truck load of 32 bags). The bal-

ance in the Food Bank Fund stands at $600 as

of July 25th.

Here are the figures for the past 3 months:

Contributions Deliveries

May $375 $512

June $765 $512

July (to July24th) $415 $256

Total deliveries for the year (to July 25th)

amount to 20,800 lbs. of potatoes plus 1,336

lbs. of non-perishable food items from the Nar-

thex.

Sylvia Ceasero, C.E.O. of the SHARE Family

and Community Services Society joined us for

Sunday Worship on July 24th. She addressed

the Congregation and expressed her apprecia-

tion on behalf of the Society and its Food Bank

in Port Moody for our faithful and on-going sup-

port. This support enables them to provide each

week some fresh potatoes for those who de-

pend on a helping hand from the SHARE Food

Bank.

“Jesus said,’the King will reply,’ I tell you the

truth, whatever you did for one of the least of

these brothers of mine, you did for me.’”

Matt.25:40.

Yours gratefully,

Claus Schultz

Mission Team Unite!

One of the new teams that is being formed as a re-

sult of the governance changes at Hope is the Mis-

sion Team.

Our mandate is to partner with the congregation to

proactively take the Gospel into the communities that

we all live in, starting with our own families, our ex-

tended families, our friends, our work associates, our

Christian School, and then the greater community

around us (especially our own neighborhood).

Our team is seeking passionate congregation mem-

bers who feel God’s calling to help take Hope to

where the people are, and, who are up for a Holy

Spirit inspired adventure. We have no set plans as

of yet, and we have no strict guidelines, commitment

dates, etc. We are a blank page seeking God’s in-

spiration, guidance and courage to act according to

His Will.

Feel free to reach out to me at any time

([email protected]... 604-512-1440) if you want to ex-

plore an idea you have, or you want to better under-

stand our mandate. We can have a chat and see

where God leads you/ us.

Blessings as you consider this ministry opportunity!

Team Leader – Missions Team

Rodger and I have been in Mission, BC for almost

two years and have been very blessed in our strata

home, close to our daughter and son-in-law, Lani

and Mike Vetter and their three daughters. We live

on the border of Heritage Park, and that in itself is a

major blessing, as we are able to enjoy the beautiful

scenery of the Fraser Valley, and the quietness and

beauty of Heritage Park. It is a tremendous place

with lovely trails, resident song birds, heron, ducks,

history markers honoring First Nations and settle-

ment of the area and it is a favorite place for prayer

walks for me.

We joined Mount Calvary Lutheran Church in Mis-

sion, and it is the 60th anniversary of the congrega-

tion July 30th and 31st. It is a blessing also to cele-

brate with our family and friends their history

here. Rodger has served on the Strata Council; I

have volunteered with Children’s Ministry here, along

with Mission Literacy in Motion. Rodger competes

with the Mission Pool League and I curl in the Sen-

iors’ League.

We are deeply grateful to God to be able to spend

time with grandchildren here. We live only about ten

minutes away from Camp Luther, so grandsons from

Calgary come and stay while they are attending

Camp Luther or volunteering there. Granddaughters

also attend as campers or volunteers and we are

able to participate with them in some events also.

God is Good, Great, Awesome! We are thankful to

Him for our faith family, worship, and seventeen

years at Hope Lutheran Church and School at Port

Coquitlam and for His place for us here!

Praises and prayers,

Doreen Dotzler
