You may be thinking you could gloss over this part of the guide but I hope you

wont. Psychology plays a very big part in preparations and without a healthy dose

of reality we may be tempted to skimp in our prep or not prep at all. I want you

and your family to be ready so please read the whole guide.

Humans and animals cannot live without water and food very long. Depending on

many factors, such as heat and cold, we stand a good chance of dying very quickly

without these essentials. Older people and younger are more vulnerable than the

young and fit and could last longer. However, realize that 3 days without anywater is usually going to spell death for the majority.

Even if we have government agencies to help us, there can be problems when it

comes to help getting to us. FEMA, the lead agency in the US for domestic

response to disasters, states that they could not get there for at least 5 days in the

most severe of circumstances. This is of course is once they have been ordered to

respond to an incident. What if that never comes and the local authorities are

overwhelmed? Not an unlikely scenario.

Utility failures such as power outages, water/sewer line breaks, communicationoutages such as LAN lines, and cable for Internet & telephone. Civil disorder such

as riots, chemical evacuation, protest that block you in your area and cannot get

out. Store closings before you can buy anything. The unpredictable moment when

you thought it would never happen to you, in your area, but it did. Peace of mind

knowing you have begun to take precautions to keep you and your loved ones are

safe.

Hurricanes- Flooding and wind damage on the coast and inland cause water

contamination, utility damage and outages for days. Access by emergency

personnel can be cut off by flooded roads and washed out access areas.

Tornados- Wind and hail destruction. Massive debris will block off streets,

preventing emergency crews’ access. The human and animal deaths and injuries

can be devastating. Downed utility lines cause loss of power and dangerous

electrical situations.

Fire- Destroys home utility lines and natural land, limits water supply, as well as

causes water pressure drops, and requires evacuation of people. Can cause flashfloods and soil erosion when the rains come due to the plant and tree destruction.

Man-caused disasters- civil unrest produces quick depletion of supplies.

Earthquakes- Water main breaks, water contamination, utility line breaks, and

road damage making roads inaccessible. This can cause massive flooding, the

rerouting of rivers and streams, and landslides.

Flooding- Washouts of area rivers and streams to change their flow, reroutes these

bodies of water, leads to erosion and landslides, and causes death.

Droughts- Can cause water and food shortages and makes the areas vulnerable to

fires and topsoil erosion due to wind.

Economic disaster- Can be caused by any of these disasters.

WARNING: All these disasters can cause death or injury, but the sad truth is that

we humans can bring destruction to others and ourselves during the aftermath

because we never thought of preparing ourselves for any of these things. We can

only hope that we’ll act with immediate action with some sense of urgency. “Awise man heeds the warning of the past because he knows history can and will

repeat itself because few are the wise and many are the foolish who will not” -old

fool who learned the hard way.

You too must have something inside yourself to begin with in order to succeed and

to keep on striving, not being satisfied with any past accomplishments. It starts

with desire, sacrifice, and “can-do” attitude. Additionally, all good coaches must

have certain abilities to create an atmosphere through encouragement and

discipline to develop the athlete.

There are things you must do in order to train and coach yourself to prepare and

accomplish the three-day disaster readiness. Determine you are going to do it.

Well, that is simple, is it not? Remember determination creates action and action

feeds determination. Set the goal when you want to have each task accomplished

and write it down. Be realistic, not pessimistic. It will take time and planning, but

because you are seeking a very accomplishable goal.

Establish your pace, but push yourself. The harder you work at

something to accomplish your goal, the more satisfying it is. Accept no excuses, including “I don’t have time.” When disaster

strikes, those things you are now doing will not be so important. Instead, you will have time to think, “I wish I would have taken the

time to prepare myself and my loved ones for this.”  Self-reliance! If you are not ready to be self-reliant, learn how. You have started already because you are reading this manual. Yet, just reading does not equate doing. Start implementing your decision today by writing down dates youwill begin and when you will have the Three-Day Survival Plan inplace.

Two-meal-a-day buckets per person. Good shelf life as they last foryears, great for bug in and bug out situations, and provide entrée-

type meals. Dry foods Dehydrated foods last a long time, but the shelf lifecan be limited. Suggest buy only what you

normally eat and rotate your stock. Freeze-dried food has a longer shelf-life thandehydrated foods. Rotate your stock. Canned foods can last a couple of years. Rotateyour stock.

Food bars are great for either bug in or bug out situations. Highcalorie bars are available. Avoid any type that will melt such aschocolate. Jack Daniels Whiskey is a great bartering item. SPAM or canned meats. Stick with SPAM, you can’t go wrong and

it’s a great bartering food. Rotate your SPAM stock.

NOTE: You can purchase some of these foods on-line. Nitro-Pak again is a great

place to purchase these items. Some of the best prices online. I also have includeda link here to Amazon for you to check out. Amazon 72-Hour Survival Kit!

Proper Storage of All Foods

When you store food and how you store it can make a difference inhaving food that is in good condition for consumption, or spoiled orbad food. Mostly buy foods your family likes and rotate it. Do not hide your food where you will forget it. Cool dry place is ideal.

The “Sytlus Pro” is one of the best flashlights in the worldand I highly recommend it. I have had one for over a year, taken it to the field numerous times and still have not hadto change the battery. That is the kind of dependability

you need when a crisis hits.

I have included links to both Nitro-Pak and the Amazon section of their Survival

Supplies. (Click on the Pictures to be taken to the Sites) These two offer some of the best products at the best prices I have seen. Plus they are dependable and

trustworthy.
