DUTY TOWARDS THE NATION
The sad and horrific incident of Pulwama which snatched away
forty five of our brave hearts jolted me out of my complacency.
What was their fault? That they were Indian soldiers? That they
loved their nation above all to take the risk of moving on to the
other world? It is blasphemous!
As a citizen of this great nation ‘Bharat’ and as a teacher I feel
guilty, to say the least, and I realised that the time has come when
we HAVE to wake up and shoulder the responsibility of protecting
our country. Time has come when each of us has to realise that we
are, and have to be, soldiers in our own way- protecting the
brothers and sisters, irrespective of what religion they may belong
to. For me, there is just one religion and that is my country.
The ‘Geeta’ has taught us when the time comes, like it or not, stand
up and face the enemy and finish the game. Let no country in the
world feel that India is a nation of cowards. If we can fly pigeons
for years with a white flag, we also have the capability and heart to
fly the skies, finish the enemy and return.
UNITED WE STAND - AS ONE

DEAR READERS,
You have in front of you, “The Bugle”, the newsletter of the Sathyasaiians,
a platform where students and teachers express their views on various
issues through poems and articles.
The March 2019 edition is an acknowledgement of the dedication and
pride of the Indian Armed Forces. Teachers and students have penned
down their thoughts on the traumatizing Pulwama Terror Attack,
condemning the attack and showing their support to the brave soldiers and
their families. Despite the danger, the never-ending hardships and the
privations of life on the nation’s border, our forces always stand tall. We
salute the soldiers, airmen and sailors who fight on the border to safeguard
the country’s honour.
It is rightly said, “One flower makes no garland.” Thus this newsletter is
not an outcome of the effort put in by one individual, but is an effort put
forth along with our amazing teachers, without whose guidance the
newsletter would not have been possible, the Editorial Board (Dhruvika
Khandelwal, Aastha Nair and Chahak Agarwal) and last but definitely not
the least, all the teachers and students who took out their time to write the
thought-provoking articles and the heart touching poems.
Read and reflect,

On 14th February 2019, a convoy of vehicles carrying security personnel on the Jammu-Srinagar
National Highway was attacked by a suicide bomber near Awantipura in the Pulwama district,
Jammu and Kashmir, India. The responsibility for the attack was claimed by the Pakistan-based
Islamist militant group Jaish-e-Mohammed. A Jaish-e-Mohammed member named Adil Ahmed
Dar, a Kashmiri local, was identified as the attacker.
I believe that the above incident was a result of radicalization and polity of
appeasement towards minority. Local Kashmiris also feel isolated from rest of the
country due to the constitutional provisions like Article 370 which I feel must be
abolished at the earliest.
Local people must be reminded that Kashmir is the ‘Land of Saints and Sufis’ and is
considered as the Heaven on Earth. Economic and political assimilation of
Kashmiris with rest of the Indians is the need of the hour. Not only Kashmiris but
in general, we are losing the spirit of nationalism which needs to be reinforced. In
the end, I would like to mention that this problem can be solved by the strong
political will that lies in our right to vote which leads to the right candidate so that
we have the right kind of leaders in the Parliament.

The stars are an honour for me to shoulder.
The agony felt by my parents when they bid
me goodbye for the border
with the pressing thought of maybe not
seeing their young and vibrant boy
again,
Ambushing the enemies and losing the battle
of life ....
I fight and die, saving for you peaceful night
and day, defending you and
yours!
I will, and I have fulfilled the soldier’s
responsibility as I
kiss the motherland for one last time.
Now bless my soul and live peacefully.
In remembrance of the brave CRPF men who lost
their lives in the Pulwama attack.

Courage; it acts like a shield
to protect you, as you cross
life’s vast field.
Courage, it is like a mother,
It shapes you to be tougher,
And never lets you suffer.
It is like a father, a supporter
Who motivates you to keep going further
It takes immense courage,
To stand up for what is right,
To speak, when everyone else’s
Mouth is sealed tight
To step in, no matter how hard the fight is,
To win over problems infinite.
Courage, love and discipline
Is all you need
In life’s marathon, to succeed.

Let it seep deep inside
Let it run through your veins
They call it a feeling of belonging to
one’s nation
But is it just a mere emotion?
Remember, the thousands who died?
How their blood boiled with courage!
How disciplined they remained
To fulfil their duty for this nation!
How they graced this country
With tales of bravery
Don’t you feel it too?
Whenever you hear about their
nationalism
Don’t you think it’s time
To give something back to our land?
So, let it set you free
To do hundreds of good deeds!

Courage is in our mind, body and soul
As it is most important,
to reach our goal
Courage is needed when any tension is ahead
It is required when arises any threat
Courage enables us to face danger, without fear
With courage, one can bring the enemy to tears
Courage to love, courage to trust
To have this courage, would be a plus
Courage to laugh and the feeling to be free
Oh! I wish, I wish I had this courage inside me!
- Geet Sharma

Oh soldiers! You are so great,
You save us from a terrible state
When the other countries attack,
To save us, you give them a big whack
While we play, you say,
Don’t worry! I stand on the border the whole
day!
Oh soldiers! You are so great!

A LETTER TO THOSE WHO LOST THEIR LIVES IN THE PULWAMA ATTACK
Rest in peace, my friends! I wish you heaven and bliss forever and more.
I’m sorry your life was cut short because somebody’s ideology didn’t
care for humanity. But you felt so strongly for your country that you
willingly sacrificed your life. I don’t know who will be hanged for your
death or who will be sentenced for life. Who will decide? No it won’t be
your parents, wife, children or brothers to decide. It has to be analysed,
studied and then responded to. Sorry! Justice won’t be as quick as your
death.
For the time being, there is lull in your family. Your wife cannot stop
crying and your parents’ eyes are blurred not with age alone but with
unbearable grief. Your kids keep playing with the toys you bought for
them just a fortnight ago.
Rest in peace my friends! I wonder if you will ever feel peaceful up there.
How can you? When life was cut short suddenly. So many errands left
undone, so many dreams left unfulfilled, so many thoughts just
bludgeoned to death. How can there be peace when human carnage is
rampant at your place of work? How can there be growth, fulfillment or
job satisfaction when you never thought of what you wanted rather you
only thought of how to keep us safe! I’m sorry my friends that the
country couldn’t keep you safe.
Rest in peace my friends! We hope to bring justice in this land, we hope
to wipe your tears my friends! We hope to wipe your tears my friend!
We hope to make you proud of what you gave up for us. RIP.

Pulwama Attack According to the latest survey by the US State Department, India has witnessed the third
highest number of terrorist attacks and the latest one - the Pulwama Attack was the
worst of them all. Our brave soldiers protect us without taking any breaks. They leave
their families and their dear ones for the sake of the nation and its people, but what are
we doing for them? I am sorry but, posting sentimental messages on social media sites
does not make you a patriot.
The attack has sparked an ‘Anti-Pakistan’ protest across India. Of course, we all want to
avenge the death of our soldiers but that does not mean that we demand for a war
against an entire nation! The fight is against terrorism and that is what we should focus
on rather than blaming a country or a religion for it!
I am deeply saddened by the attack and my heart goes out to the families of the soldiers.
The Indian Government has already started its fight against terrorism. As civilians, all we
can do is support the Government in this hard time rather than spreading rumors or false
news.
-Deepansh Bhatnagar (6 C)
GLORY OF THE MIGHTY NATION
Patriotism is the essence of fondness, tenderness, devotion and concern for one’s
country. That bold intrepidity to make the resolution of self-immolation when required,
is patriotism. India, an immensely diverse country, is loved by all because of the glory of
its virtues.
We, the new generation of modern India, ought to be thankful to the mighty Lord for
blessing us, to give us opportunities to take our country to the foremost remarkable
heights. We must be grateful to be born in this in-comparable country.
Our country is gratifying but still hasn’t recovered from the ghastly, un-pleasant past of
deaths. Our country’s past consists of ‘domination since beginning’. But to transform
bitter experiences into the binding glue of a rainbow nation, not only great men and
women like Jawaharlal Nehru, Senath Lahri, Sarojini Naidu etc. but many unsung
heroes, have played a vital role.
India has gone through a lot of struggles, wars and disputes but, due to the strong minds
and hearts of the citizens and of course our very brave soldiers, we have always emerged
victorious! -Vedangi Suryawanshi (10 ‘C’)

More than 40 personnel lost their
lives
May their soul rest in peace
while they faced an untimely demise
Let me tell you, you have messed
with a country
Who has always been a fighter
Be ready to face the ramifications,
you perpetrator
You attacked like a coward
Now India will make sure that you
are devoured
In Peshawar, when hundreds of lives
were taken
Even we were deeply shaken and
couldn’t sleep in serenity
And now you are laughing at us,
showing your enimity
Now our blood has started to boil
because like a snake you will coil
We will not let this heinous act let go
As it was completely inexplicable
We will do justice in our way
with major consequences that will
follow
We will leave you in a state worse
than miserable.
Just wait and watch
Now that you have claimed the
botch.

PULWAMA
“Brave men go forward not expecting to return”
PULWAMA TRAGEDY – LEFT US THINKING.
We all have heard stories about the bravery of our soldiers and the attacks they have to face.
One such terrifying incident happened on 14 February at Lethpora in Pulwama, Jammu and
Kashmir. The whole nation was mourning the death of the unsung heroes who lost their lives
in the attack. This article is dedicated to the soldiers and their bravery.
Let us know some facts, why does Pakistan support terrorism? Pakistan was ruled by the
Hindu ruler “Raja Dahar” from Brahmin dynasty of Sind. His kingdom was conquered by the
Ummayed Caliphate Muhammad Bin Qasim ruler, then during the partition of India and
Pakistan, Raja Hari Singh was not able to choose between the two countries and decided to
remain neutral.
Then why does Pakistan claim Kashmir? Because it has a majority of Muslim population,
but is this really the cause? In a joint session of the Congress and the Muslim league along
with the last viceroy of India, Lord Mount Batten, Jinnah proposed the formation of an
independent nation-state, Pakistan. Since then “Jihad” started in the name of “Allah” or
“Khuda”. The jihad-holy war is said to be derived from the Quran with military connotations
often the idiomatic expression, “striving in the path of God”.
Now the question is, why does Pakistan act in this way? It fears the unstable Afghanistan
which is now a safe haven for anti- Pakistan militant groups and a dangerous playground for
outside powers. Pakistan further feels that targeting Afghanistan-oriented militant groups will
provoke retaliation in Pakistan’s Punjab heartland. Pakistan lacks full control over the militant
groups but sponsors them. But the hatred has to be stopped! “DON’T KILL! DON’T BE
KILLED”! We Indians have always shown tolerance, but now a strong message has to go to
Pakistan, we will no longer sit quite! Let them now mourn, let them be warned, let them
suffer, let them be starve, let their blood flow and finally let them blow. Let us salute the
martyrs’ soul, feel proud as they are our crown.
How do we measure a soldier’s honour? Candle marches, spreading hate through media?
NO! Just be good citizens, serving the Nation with honesty, and stand by the soldiers’
families.
THE THREAD OF LOVE WILL JOIN ALL OF US.

They were men,
Who used to protect us.
Now, they just make people sad
A child who will never see his dad.
When the tears full of sorrow will dry,
People will cry,
Not of sorrow but of joy.
Many mothers are crying,
Because their sons are dying.
Not of diseases,
But of bullets.
Those newly wedded want their soul mate,
Now all they do is cry,
Cheeks of these ladies are getting wetter,
They aren’t getting dry
I hope soon it will be much better.
I demand Modi Ji for another surgical strike,
Otherwise the civilians will go,
To kill India’s enemies on their bikes.
What will happen next, I wish I’d know
But I know India is feeling low.
JAI HIND! Might be the last words,
Spoken by our brave soldiers.
Foes of my beloved country beware,
Because my country will give you a huge scare.

What a chaotic and disgusting drama!
In the name of Country and dharma!!
Mothers
Brothers
Fathers
Sisters
Sons & Daughters
Went through a trembling trauma!
The Explosion ate them up like deadly piranha!!
Left the martyr’s family in blazing Coma!
Behold!
Where is Brahma?
Where is Lama?
Are they blind to this cyclorama?
In the screams of Martyr’s families!
Drowned are the echoes of all Political dogma!!
Though martyrs will surely attain Nirvana.
Up there in Heaven I have faith in Madonna (Mother of Jesus)
But here on Earth, who will stop these exploiters?
Who are wrapping & spreading in our society like Liana?
For sure dear Martyr’s will shine like Tucana (constellation)!
They will bloom & blossom permanently like Bella Donna!!
Let the extremists be intoxicated in marijuana!
Let hideous and horrendous wrath befall on this prima donna!!
Soon the day will come again when we will sip delicious Kava!
Wear colourful & warm Balaclava!!
Our beautiful, charming & enchanting Kashmir!
Will be led by an honest & brave Wazir!!
Waiting for you Persona Grata!
Trust the man with Stigma!!
This too shall have a peaceful end like Mahabharata!
