240 MT over 40 years - Narrowing options

Varma et al, 2009 in M&PG

• Proposal by the Western Australia Dept Mines & Petroleum and Industry JV

• Area has coal mines, power stations, alumina extraction & processing plants

• Region produces about 25 Mta CO2; ~ 5-6 Mt/y of this can be captured

• CO2 storage proposed in sandstone unit at 2-3 km depth
