    Intercession

May Kirpal show Mercy and grant the sincere seeker after Truth afirst-hand experience of the God-into-expression-Power, wich revealsitself as the Light of God and the Voice of God the Sound that comesfrom the right side.

    Bhai Jamal

We have to do honest self-practice to see how far we have come onthe Inner Path and have gained dominance over mind and senses. Wecan use the mystical experiences of past Masters and the teaching of

Their practical lives to see if we have really uplifted ourselves to theseextraordinary heights. If this is not so, we can come humbly near toone who has done so and accept his help.

    Kirpal Singh

God, the Soul and the Word are of the

same EssenceThe Almighty is for all Creatures the Unchangeable,

    Eternal One

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God andthe Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. Allthings were made by Him, and without Him was nothing madethat was made. In Him was life; and the life was the light of man.

And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness

    comprehendeth it not.

That was the True Light, which lighteth every man that comethinto the world

And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, and webeheld his Glory, the Glory as of the only begotten of the Father,

    full of Grace and Truth.

    St John, 1:1-5,9,14

By the Word of the Lord were the heavens made, and all thehost of them by the breath of His mouth

    Introducing Words

    Introduction

A letter by Hazur Sawan Singh about the fundamental structure of

    the creation

The Supreme Creator and the individual spirit in the creation areconnected together through the Sound Current1. But Kal2, also thecreation of the Supreme Being, separates the individual from theCurrent by coming in between as mind3 and forms.

Hence, the individual feels disconnected, but not so the Creator. There are three minds, and corresponding to these three minds arethree kinds of forms.

In Trikuti, the Nijman innermost mind or Brahm, and the UniversalMind cover the spirit. The forms here are made up of very pure Maya,

mind; so much so, that a majority of the seekers have failed to seehere the spirit apart from the Maya or mind, and therefore consideredBrahm as all pervading, etc. Lower down in Sahasdal Kanwal, theforms of Trikuti get another covering of mind and form both coarserthan the above, the astral form here being governed by theAndi Man.In this zone, there are the hells and heavens and numerous otherLokas, regions. The tendencies of the mind are directed inward andare elevating. This mind behaves like a wise enemy, seeking to keepus here. Further down in Pind region below the eyes , the astralform gets another covering of coarse material, with which we are allfamiliar.

The mind that governs this form is called the Pindi Man Pindi Mind. Its tendencies are outward and diffusive, and are most difficult tocontrol.

Now, a body actuated by mind and spirit cannot help performingkarma, and the karmic law, as you sow, so shall you also reapcontinues to work, and the account is complicated with time. Themore one works, the more and greater is the entanglement, like abird struggling in the meshes of a net.

  • 7/27/2019 The Souls Journey II

    9/118

So cunningly has Kal arranged the snare of forms and minds that it iswell-nigh impossible to escape from their working in these minds andbodies. No matter how goodly and godly we be, it will not take us outfrom these regions.

    Says Lord Krishna,

Good actions are as much binding as bad actions; good actions may be

likened to fetters of gold and bad actions to those of iron, and both are

equally sufficient to keep us tied.

The escape is through the Sound Current which is the substratum atthe bottom of these minds. Only when the attention catches andfollows the Current does the mind become dormant and out of action. At all other times when the attention is off the Current, the mind getsthe upper hand. Through the long and indefinite time since the spiritseparated from its ocean and associated itself with the minds andbodies, not only has the upward passage been blocked, but the spirithas been so bewildered, entangled, and enfeebled, that it has lost allmemory of its home, and is contented to live a miserable life in thiswretched, material world.

Now, there are two ways of looking at this creation: the Creatorspoint of view; or in other words, from the top, and from the bottomend. From the top end, it seems that the Creator is all in all. He is theonly doer and the individual seems like a puppet tossed right and left

by the wire puller. There seems no free will in the individual andtherefore no responsibility on his head.

It is His play. There is no why or wherefore. All the Saints, when Theylook from the top, describe the creation as His manifestation. Theysee Him working everywhere. Now, looking at the thing from below,or the individual viewpoint, we come across variety as opposed tooneness.

Everybody appears working with a will, and is influenced by and isinfluencing others with whom he comes in contact. The individual is

the doer, and is therefore responsible for his actions and theirconsequences. All actions are recorded in his mind and memory andcause likes and dislikes, which keep him pinned down to the material, astral or mental spheres, according to his actions in an earlier movein the cycle of transmigration. The individual in these regions cannothelp doing actions, and having done them, cannot escape theirinfluence. Individual is the doer and therefore bears theconsequences of his actions.

As stated above, the observations differ on account of the difference

in the angle of vision. Both are right. The individual clothed in coarsematerial form, sees only the external material forms. His sight does

  • 7/27/2019 The Souls Journey II

    10/118

not go deeper than that. If he were to rise up, the same individualfrom Sahasdal Kanwal will see the mind actuating all forms. The formwill be secondary only; mind will be the mover in all. The sameindividual from Daswan Dwar will see the Spirit Current workingeverywhere and will see how the mind gets power from the Spirit.

From Sach Khand the whole creation looks like bubbles forming anddisappearing in a Spiritual Ocean.

An individual is endowed with intelligence and does every actionknowingly, it is therefore incumbent upon him to find a way to escapefrom this entanglement. To raise his spirit he must struggle againstthe mind, for he lives by struggle.

Where there is a will, there is a way. He cannot say that this is no partof his duty.

Now, the karmas are divided into three groups:

    1. Kriyaman or new actions,2. Pralabhd or fate,

    3. and Sanchit or reserve.

We take the case of a farmer.

He prepares his land for seed. He has the option to sow whatever

he likes. Suppose he decides on wheat and sows it. The cropmatures and he gathers it. Some of it he keeps for hisconsumption during the coming year, and the surplus he puts instore. For the next year he will have to live on wheat, for he hasnothing else by him.

If he now wants something else, say corn, he can sow that nextseason. Suppose he now sows corn and gathers his crop at theend of the year. Like his wheat crop, he keeps some for hisconsumption and keeps the surplus in his store. Year after year

he is living on the previous years gathering and increasing hisreserve in store to be utilized in time of scarcity or need.

You will see that he is living and hopes to live, on what he himselfsows and gathers. Similarly, whatever we do in this life becomes fatefor our next life; and some of this is kept in reserve by Kal to be givento us if by any chance of course these chances are practically nil we run short of karma.

Without karma, Kal cannot keep down a spirit in a body, and without abody, no karma can be performed. It is open to Kal to add from

reserve to fate, or deduct from fate for reserve. Like the farmer who ispreparing his land for the coming season, and is living on the

  • 7/27/2019 The Souls Journey II

    11/118

gatherings from the last season, with a confidence based on hisreserve, so we are doing our fate, in which we have no choice.

But we do have the choice to work anew as we please, for our futuregood. And we have a surplus, which is our reserve from past lives, of

which we have now no knowledge. We are therefore at present doinga dual function:

    a) In regard to fate, we are helpless;

    b) but in new actions we have a free hand to sow for the future.

To distinguish between these two types by intelligence alone is noteasy for the individual; but a rough rule may be laid down:

Namely, that what comes in spite of our efforts, andspontaneously, is due to fate. But those whose attention isconcentrated, and who have access within, can read their fateeasily. It is an open book to them.

Now, in the physical body, actions are done from the heart centre. Aslong as the mind is centred here in ordinary individuals, the heart isthe centre of mind action , it will be influenced by mind actions. Thesensations of joy and sorrow will be felt as the body is worked fromthis centre.

When the mind has been elevated to the eye focus by concentration,or in other words, when the mind has changed its seat or centre fromthe heart to the eyes; then the feeling used by outward influences, working on the physical body, will be felt imperceptibly. Joys of theworld will not elevate and its sorrows will not depress him.

The fate actions are stored in the eight-petalled lotus, in Anda abovethe eyes. Their influence is felt forcibly as long as that centre has notbeen crossed. When that centre is crossed, and the Masters AstralForm is seen for that Form resides there , the influence of the fateactions will be perceived nominally. The mind has then become

strong and it has the power to bear joys or sorrows without effort.

But fate cannot be effaced or altered; it will have to be borne. Anarrow after leaving the bow, must find its mark. The reserve actionsare stored at the top ofTrikuti, and only when a spirit has crossed thethird mind, or Trikuti, is it said to be free from all karma.

Below this, the spirit suffers from the effects of karma.

All actions are performed with a motive and the motive is binding. It is

not easy to conceive of an action which is performed without amotive. The mind is consciously or sub-consciously active, and it isridiculous to talk of karma without a counter-karma. There is no

  • 7/27/2019 The Souls Journey II

    12/118

escape from counter-karma. By doing actions, however good, there isno escape. Charity, offerings or pilgrimages must bring their reward, and the soul doing these things must receive the reward in oneincarnation or another.

Man is reborn or embodied with a span of life, which is defined by thekarmic effects of his past life, no more and no less.

    Christ says:

    Your days are numbered.

The length of our life is assigned by the number of breathingmeasured out for us. Their right use or abuse can extend or shortenour life on earth. Normally one respires about 14 to 15 times perminute, but in impassioned moments one respires 24 to 26 times perminute. In this manner, one consumes the number of breathingassigned to, within less time. But, if one obtains life and devotes timefor the Spiritual Practice, the needed number of breathe will decreaseto 4 or 6 per minute. In so doing, life is extended.

The yogis direct for months and sometimes for years their breath by ayoga practice Kumbhak , by which the inhalation is temporaryextended and therefore they prolong their life for hundreds of years.

The escape from karma lies in the protection afforded by the Saints.

They are Themselves karmaless. Their actions are not binding onThem, for Their Spirits work from Daswan Dwar, a centre above thethree spheres of mind and forms, as stated above. They show us theway out.

    They say,

Let new actions be performed in the name of the Master, theindividual working in the capacity of an agent only.

The new actions, done in this spirit, will not be binding. The fate

actions will have been undergone by the time the life comes to anend.

The reserve actions, Saints take partly upon Themselves, and arepartly undergone by the devotees, as the Saints think proper.

They put the individual in touch with the Sound Current, thesubstratum, and as the spirit catches It and rises up, and throws offthe influences of mind and matter, it gets stronger and stronger.

  • 7/27/2019 The Souls Journey II

    13/118

The more the individual works on these lines, the easier the Path forhim. If otherwise, the course becomes lengthy, yet the Saints arepledged to see him through, after They have initiated a soul.

The practice of Sound Current cuts the root of karma. The Current

acts like a magnet on the spirit. It attracts the spirit to itself, and if thespirit were not covered by the rust of mind and matter, it would go uplike a sky rocket. The bonds of attachments and impressions areremoved by repetition. The repetition of thoughts of the journeywithin replaces our common daily thought; and the mind instead ofwandering outside, begins to take rest and peace within; and when itcomes in, the spirit comes in with it; and when the spirit is in, theCurrent in its turn pulls it up, and when Trikuti has been crossed thiswill only be when all karmic accounts are settled the soul nevergoes back into transmigration.

It will go up to merge with its source.

ForewordIn this exceptional time in which our attention is confronted with acountless number of various confusing, so-called spiritual teachings, itmay be the most difficult, but certainly the most important task torecognise the One, the natural Way given by God from the outset.

This natural way in fact is capable to lead the human soul back to itsoriginal source of Divine Home, the only place where it canexperience the longed for pure Love and Eternal Bliss.

The Holy Masters of all times and the religions put emphasis on thefact, that each single man, regardless of his origin, his personalcharacteristics or his religion has the right to ask for the chance towalk on this sublimest of all ways, thus fullfilling the soul-embeddedsense of creation. And yet, there are only few of us being in theprivileged situation of out of thousands presented doors choosing theone right door and confidently knocking at it.

Seek and ye shall find knock, and it shall be opened unto you.

    St Luke 11:9

This scripture is something rare and outstanding, because it indicatesthe way to that one door. Thus it does not make sense to comparethe content and value of these texts with the statements of variousother scriptures and teachings as they were spread by the selfnominated upholders of different religions and beliefs after the

physical departure of the respective torch bearer.

Now, where exactly lies the difference? To find that out for oneselfmay be the sense and purpose of the following textual collection. Forwho wants to understand will see the quintessence of Sant Mat, theHoly Path of the Masters, propounded as Kirpal Singh unfolded it tous.

It begins with the Wedding Hymn of Guru Ram Das, which describesthe transformation of the disciple from the beginning of initiation.Contemporary hymns of a disciple who can bear a lively witness of hisexperiences to the interested seeker follow.

Many prophets and righteous men have desired to see thosethings which ye see, and didnt see them; and to hear the thingswhich ye hear, and have not heard them.

    St Matthew 13:16-17

    Then, the souls journeybegins.

As a thankful author of this foreword I do solemnly confirm, that theconcious, experienceable contact with the Almighty Power of God initiation is amazingly granted everyone, who sincerely asks for it.

Entirely in this spirit I wish the reader of the now following scripture, that he may be able, to take the open and sincere Inner Attitudewhen reading this book, which alone makes it possible, to draw theessential conclusion out of the given information, to receive thecommunion with the Divine Word within and then through the lovingGrace of the merciful Master-Power to undergo the most possibleSpiritual Experience and Guidance indeed.

The Wedding Hymn by Guru Ram Das

A soul is extremly fortunate, if by great destiny she has obtained ahuman birth, which is very rare and precious. But she is far moreblessed, if, by Gods desire, she gets the contact with the Word

Naam, Bani, Saut, etc. , the God-in-Expression-Power, during thisembodiment.

The following Hymn by Guru Ram Das describes the way, which thesoul, being embodied in a human form and initiated, has to gothrough. Four stages of life must be gone through, to achieve the LastAim, the union with the Lord. This Hymn refers to the degrees ofconsciousness, that those souls have to traverse, who have thefortune, to be blessed with this contact.

Guru Ram Das, in His hymn, names the soul a bright and the Almightythe brightgroom.

II The Master of the Universe

After leaving the cage of clay I met Him the Master of the Universe.Like a grain of sand was the creation1 and His Visage it was familiar tome, was as great as the highest mountain.

    His smile enchanted me.

The Visage approached and spoke with a calm and deep voice:

    Look my child,

and I looked regarding His directive, right, left, above, below, aheadand behind, all at the same time

And wile looking with the Eye of the Soul He went on saying:

All this am I and there exist none beside me.

And I went on looking like a child and He showed me in Hisbenevolence and mercifulness the end and the beginning and all whatexist not. The Lord of the Universe the Master Himself showedHimself to a dishonourable disciple. I was not in wonder, it was Kirpalmy Lord and Master!

After this gracious vision I bowed decently and said:

You, Kirpal, are everywhere, there is nothing except you, You arethe Alpha and the Omega, which was and which is to come, the

Almighty. From Pind to Anaami and all else what is, although it isnot manifested. You are everywhere immanent and I testify, there exist only You alone. Thank You for this insight!

    III The Question

I saw a light the flame of the universe. A voice rumbling strong andloud like endless thunders. This voice without a visage asked insistentand definitive as it asked everyone who approaches it.

    Who is your Master?

Unterrified but thoughtful what I should answer, the following

possibilities streamed through me because nothing wrong I wanted todo nor losing this vision.

Should I answer Sant Kirpal Singh Ji Maharaj? or just Kirpal Singh?

But my soul out of itself shouted out only the name Kirpal with allpower and passion.

In the same moment the light manifolded itself many thousand timesand the same voice asked again:

    Who is your Master?

Yet, the power of the voice had manifolded itself infinite in itsforcefulness and profoundness like millions of thunders on earth.

Every individual part of my being was then steeped in by this question there was no way back, no hiding, no just for-once.

Intrepid and strengthen by the first reaction I repeated

    Kirpal

I screamed it out of me with all power and creed. Knowing that Kirpalis my protector in the here and there.

Now, all Light that exists opened in front of me and I saw the Light ofLights itself, no more obstacle, no more barrier, no more hindrances.Only Life, Light and Love.

    I was free.

Thank You Kirpal for this blessing. The blessing to have escaped theruler of the creation.

You, Kirpal, are alone and I in my imperfection are Your humbleservant.

    Introduction about the Creation

The Adepts of Mysticism Saints, Masters of Truth, Murshid-i-Kamil orPir report to us that the exploration of the Inner Realms is thehereditary title of each soul; and if we do not go inward, in order tocross these realms, this will be our fault. Kabir, the Indian poet and

Saint described these regions in His scriptures. They were alsodescribed by Guru Nanak, the first Guru of the Sikh religion, Swami Ji

    30/118

and Baba Jaimal Singh Ji, two Highest Adepts of Mysticism in the 19 th

century and also by Hazur Baba Sawan Singh Ji in the 20th century andHis Spiritual Successor Kirpal Singh in the 21st century.

According to the teachings of the Adepts of Mysticism there are three

main divisions. It is most appropriate to subdivide these regions herinto three main divisions of the cosmic plan of creation:

    1. the purely Spiritual Region;2. the spirituo-material region;3. the materio-spiritual region;

The materio-spiritual one is the main realm which is the closest to thephysical universe. The central source of power of this materio-spiritualregion has become known as Sahasdal Kanwal thousand-petalledlotus in the Oriental terminology, and it is this source of power fromwhich the whole physical universe gets its driving energies. This thirdmain realm has been termed astral level in the western occultliterature and in the theosophical scriptures. In this astral realm thescale of time is smaller than in the second spirituo-material realm, butmuch bigger than in the physical universe. At the end of a shortercosmic cycle of life, which lasts, however, many million years, it willvanish into the realm of the Universal Mind. This is where the heavensof most of the religions of the world are located. Here one can find theheaven of Christianity, the Paradise of Islam and the Swargas ofHinduism. These heavens are really beautiful, but they are also

    subject to the final dissolution.

The beginning of the mystical Path of Love, the Way back to our TrueHome, however takes place at the lowest level of creation, whichcomprises our entire physical universe: all the planets, suns, stars, solar systems, galaxies and cosmic systems whether known tocurrent astronomy or not. Matter in our physical universe is in itsrawest, densest form with a tiny addition of Spiritual Substance whichis just enough to enliven matter and to preserve life. The physicalstructure of our universe is the lowest projection of a cosmic idea, which is guided by the medium of the Universal Mind. The whole

physical universe with its millions of galaxies that are a vast numberof light years apart from one another, is just like a dust particle ifcompared to the Inner Realms beyond it.

Guru Nanak describes the three grand main divisions as follows:

The first is the Region of Truth and Pure Spirit unmixed withmatter.

    Ramkali M5

  • 7/27/2019 The Souls Journey II

    31/118

Here the spirit reigns supreme and there is total absence ofmatter. This is the region where the Lord Himself dwells and maybe defined as the purely Spiritual Region. This is free from thehaunt of death and destruction. Whoever reaches its domain, obtains True Salvation.

    The Master says:

Once you reach the region of the Formless, you obtain the abodeof everlasting Joy and Peace.

    Sorath M1

    Again:

The Formless dwells in the Pure Spiritual Region.

    Jap Ji, Stanza 37

The second Grand Division consists of Pure Spirit and a subtleform of matter combined in varying degrees.

The upper part of it is called Par Brahmand, wherein the spirit ismore to be compared with the subtle forms of matter. In thelower parts called Daswan Dwar, both are in equal part. This isthe region of the Universal Mind and is termed by various names

by various Masters. Here the Spirit is mixed with matter in itssubtlest form, the latter being totally subordinate to the former.Spirit in this region predominates and is pre-eminently the rulingforce. This region undergoes a change at the destruction of theuniverse in the Grand Dissolution, Maha Pralaya, and inDissolution, Pralaya.1 A man in this domain is safer than in theone below it.

The third region is the Grand Division of spirit and matter in itsgrossest form and is called And. It is comprised of Trikuti andSahasrarplanes. It is the sphere ofMaya or matter. In this region

matter has the upper hand and spirit is subordinate to it, somuch so, that the latter feels dependent on the former for itsmanifestation. In this region the spirit, on account of itsassociation with matter, undergoes untold miseries and issubjected to the law of transmigration.

Both these divisions are referred to as Kal and Maha Kalrespectively. []

This, in brief, is a sketch of the Macrocosm the Great World

Universe. These three divisions also exist in man on a miniature

Man is an Epitome of the Three Grand Divisions of

    the Creation

    1. Spirit or the soul, represents the region of the Spiritual Division.

    2. Mind or the mental plane, refers to that of the Universal Mind.

    3. Physical body or the material planes, consist of three bodies: thecausal, the astral and the gross.

The gross body is the fleshy sheath we have. It consists of thegross matter and gross organs of actions and senses: eyes, ears, nose, tongue, skin and excretory and generative organs. Itis shaken off at the time of physical death.

The astral body consists of subtle matter and subtle organs and

is active in dreamland state. In this is located the mind.

The causal body is the root cause of the other two bodies. Itsactivity is confined to the deep sleep state.

The latter two bodies along with the mind continue to exist afterdeath and create a new form or physical frame at each rebirth.Macrocosm thus exists in the microcosm of the human body. Theknowledge of the latter serves as means to the comprehension of theformer.

If one could succeed in attaining the region of the spirit withinhimself, by shaking off these sheaths, he can cast off all pain andmisery and enjoy incessant bliss and peace untold.

A life of matter is all misery which one cannot escape until one is ableto separate oneself from it.

The attainment of the Region of Spirit then is the thing that isrequired, for it can lead to the abode of Perpetual Joy and SupremeHappiness, even while living in this physical body.

It is only by riding the current of the Holy Naam the Eternal Music inman that this state is reached, with the help of the True Master. TheHoly Naam the Word comes down from the highest SpiritualPlanes, the region of Truth, into the material planes.

It is the saving lifeline that can carry souls into the plane beyond thereach of dissolution. All other means fall short of the goal.

The Kingdom of God is within you; you may seek it there. It iswithin your finite body that communion with the Word can be

held. This ultimately brings you to the Region of Infinite Truth Sach Khand.

Excerpt from the Jap Ji edited by Kirpal Singh, 18941974

Possibility of Communion of the Microcosm with the

    Macrocosm Regions

Now we will see whether there is a possibility of communion betweenthe microcosm and the macrocosm. Man is an epitome of themacrocosm. There are in man nerve centres, lying in a dormant state, and these can be quickened by the practice of the Divine Word theSound Principle.

There are six reflex centres in the Pind or the body, corresponding tothe six centres in the Brahmand or Cosmos. These, in their turn, arereflections of those in Par Brahm or the purely Spiritual Region.

The lower six centres are the ganglions at the rectum, the generativeorgan, the navel, the heart, the throat and the sixth midway betweenthe eyebrows, which is called Til orAjna (see stanza 21 of the Jap Ji)and is the seat of the soul in man.

It is from here that the spirit current descends into the body, givinglife and strength to the physical frame and its respective limbs. Thisspirit current plays an important part in the nourishment of the bodyand if this is cut off from any part, it loses all vitality and forthwithceases to function.

The six centres of the Brahmand and of the Spiritual Regions are alsoto be found within us. When the spirit current is brought into play withthese centres, one can have contact with their corresponding planes.

Excerpt from the Jap Ji edited by Kirpal Singh, 18941974

    Guru Nanak says:

Pilgrimages, austerities, mercy, charity and alms-giving, cease to beof any consequence, when one gets an ingress into the Til1 the InnerEye; communion with and practice of the Holy Word, with heart full ofdevotion, procure admittance into the Inner Spiritual Realms, washingaway the dirt of sins at the Sacred Fount2 within. All virtues are Thine,oh Lord; I possess not one, There can be no worship without

practicing the Holy Word. From Thee has emanated the Bani or theHoly Word, which is the Path to salvation. Thou art Truth3,enchantingly sweet, and my mind yearns for Thee.

Explanation: 1) Til: it literally means the mustard seed. Here it isused for the ganglion between and behind the two eyes. Hindus call itShiv Netra or the Third Eye. In the Gospel it is termed as Single Eye.

The Sufis call it Nukta-i-Sweda. It is the seat of soul in man. It is thefirst stage where the soul collects itself and is enabled to rise in thehigher Spiritual Planes. Guru Ram Das, in this context, says: Mindwanders away every second as it has not entered the Til. BhaiGurdas has given a beautiful description of it in his Kabits andSwaiyas No. 140, 141, 213, 265, 269, 270 and 294. Kabir has alsoreferred to Til, in His Dohas or couplets. Tulsi Sahib tells us that themystery of God is revealed only when one penetrates behind the Til.2) The Sacred Fount of Nectar is the Amrit-saar or Amritsar in man. Itis not to be confused with Amritsar, the sacred pool founded by GuruRam Das, 4th Guru and completed in the time of Guru Arjan, 5th Guru. The Sacred Fount, here referred to, by Nanak, is situated in the thirdSpiritual Plane, called the Daswan Dwar. The Mohammedans call itHauz-i-Kausar and the Hindus term it as Prag Raj. It is here that the

pilgrim soul gets its real baptism and is washed clean of all impuritiesand regains its pristine purity. 3) Truth or Sat Naam resides in SachKhand, which is the highest of the five Spiritual Planes, where theFormless One dwells. This is explained in the stanzas assigned for thevarious planes at the end of the text.

The Way through the astral Realms

If one rises above the body consciousness, one initially is situated inAnd the Third Grand Division , surrounded by matter. Afterwardsone has to rise into the Brahmand, the region of the Universal Mind.

There one feels much better, but still one is not immune fromendangerment or vitiation. The first region or safe haven is Sach

Khand, or the Domain of Truth, which is inaccessible for Maha Kal orthe Grand Dissolution.

    Thus Guru Nanak says:

In the body itself there is everything: the Spiritual Region, theheavenly plateaux and the material planes. In the body dwellsthe Lord Supreme Who nourishes all. In the body lives theFormless, the Inconceivable, beyond the human ken. Those whohave material eyes only, seek Him in vain, in outward things. Inthe body there are the Priceless Jewels of Divinity. In the body

there are all the material realms and planes. In the body is thetreasure of the Holy Naam, reached only through meditation onthe Word of the Master. In the body are all the gods: theBrahma, the Vishnu and the Shiva1, and the whole creation itself.

    Rag Suhi M3

    Another Saint says:

Brahmand is in man on a miniature scale, and whoever seeks it, willfind it. Oh Pipa, the highest truth may be realised only throughMaster.

    Dhanasri Pipa

This very truth is also enunciated by the Muslim Saints Who state:

Macrocosm is in the microcosm and thus you get to God.

In the Human body, we trace the three divisions referred to above ona miniature scale.

The mystic path of Love has its starting point in human consciousnesswhen the aspirant has fixed his attention on the centre of the thirdeye between and behind the two eyebrows. The third eye possessesits own brightness, which is vitalised by the souls own Light, and itstherefore independent from outer Light, contrary to our eyes of flesh

    and bone.

If your two eyes become single, thy whole body shall be full of Light.

    St Matthew 6:22St Luke 11:34

Saint Augustine tells us of the manifestation in Him of the Light in thisway:

I entered even into my inward self. Thou being my Guide and able as Iwas: for Thou were become my helper. And I entered and beheld withthe eye of my soul (such as it was), above the same eye of my soulabove my mind, the Light Unchangeable. Not this ordinary light whichall flesh may look upon, nor as it were a greater of the same kind, asthough the brightness of this should be manifold brighter, and with itsgreatness take up all space. Not such was the Light but other, yea, farother from all these [] He that knows the Truth, knows what thatLight is and he that knows It, knows Eternity.

    Loose translation from:

Confessiones Book VII, X.,by St Augustine

By the Mercy of an Adept of Mysticism the aspirant was given asimple method to rise above body consciousness and thereby entersinto the Inner Regions. First he closes his outer eyes and sees with hisInner Third Eye. He also closes his outer ears and hears with his InnerSpiritual Ear.

If these things have been achieved, the stream of consciousnesswhich is diffused in the whole body will withdraw and concentrate in

the centre of the Third Eye. The body itself is getting insensitive thusincreasing the aspirants consciousness of his soul, his Real Self.

This is the initial stage of that which the Adepts of Mysticism callTuriya Pad, i.e. the fourth stage of existence, the stage oftranscendental consciousness or super-consciousness.

Be strictly on guard when doing practices. Pranas or breathing isnot involved in any way. You should also have no consciousnessof the body whatsoever. Master-Power is over your head and will

be extending all feasible help. When you hear a mingling ofmany sounds within, please try to discriminate which Sound is

coming from the right side. The Sound will come nearer andultimately will come from above and you will hear It muchclearer.

    Spiritual Elixir Part II,

Chapter II: Meditation,by Kirpal Singh, 18941974

At the beginning the disciple of the Adept of Mysticism was given aSimran a repetition exercise or loving remembrance of the ChargedNames of the Lord of five words in order to rise into the SpiritualRealms. He collects the whole stream of consciousness mind andsoul in the centre of the Third Eye, and the mental repetition of thefive Holy Words will help him to achieve the desired aim and henotices that his consciousness withdraws from the physical world.

[] Simran helps in the withdrawal of spirit-currents from the body. InSimran lies the seed that helps in the development of the soul.

[] Simran makes man introspective and concentrative.Extraordinary powers inevitably follow as a result of the concentrationof mind in the Inner Planes.

[] Simran is a weapon against all dangers. It acts as a password toall Spiritual Planes. It gives strength and sustenance to the body andmind during trouble and affliction, and brings the soul near the

    Master.

Spiritual Elixir Part II,Chapter II: Meditation,

    by Kirpal Singh, 18941974

According to the individual case his first view at the astral realm candifferng. The manifestation of the eye within which is two or threetimes the size of the normal eye is auspicious, as it is that of theMaster. It should be penetrated lovingly while fixing your Inner Gazeintently in its middle and repeating the Sacred Charged Names

mentally, when it will burst to give you further way up, in due coursewith His Grace. It is possible that you may be blessed with the full sizecharming Radiant Form of the Master, which usually follows thismanifestation. Please repeat the Sacred Names to test itsgenuineness as sometimes the negative forces interfere and theCharged Names are the sure criterion for testing the genuineness ofthe Inner Form.

The lowest astral level is a location of unbridled desires, a true hell, into which the spoilt and brutish people will get after death. In thesedark and horrible surroundings evil beings will harvest the fruit oftheir evil deeds on earth. This is not the eternal hell of the books, buta venue of punishment and final liberation.

The devotee may cross the lower astral regions by the loving mercyand protection of the Adept of Mysticism, though they might beshown to him as a reward sometimes.

At this lower astral region there are further steps on which theenvironment is steadily improving. Some are full of the best amenitieswith a wonderful scenery and places of rest for common people whoare waiting for reincarnation onto earth.

On the natural way everyone will first see Light. This will first bestationary, then brighter and will burst to give way for one to passthrough it and up. One may see scenes, figures, colours etc., but tostay long with them will only delay Spiritual Progress. One usually hasto cross sun, moon or stars, but they give way in similar manner toallow one to pass onwards.

Spiritual Elixir Part II,Chapter II: Meditation,

    by Kirpal Singh, 18941974

After the aspirant has passed these lower regions quickly, he willtravel through a genuinely astral region, which is studded with brightsuns and stars.

He can hear the Sound Current as a never ending melody and duringhis ascent to the star-spangled sky he passes a sun and a moon whichseem to dissolve or burst when he travels through them.

    Question by R. Redeen:

Whats the explanation of the different colours of Lightsthat are seen in meditation?

    Answer by Kirpal Singh:

No book will give you, I tell you. But there is a reason for it,theres reason for it. That depends on the Inner Development, backgrounds, some dominating attributes in his life, you see.Thats the cause of all the different colours. So, yellow, golden

Light is spiritual; pure white Light is also , this is spiritual; redLight, you will find, where at least theres some pushing attitude.

  • 7/27/2019 The Souls Journey II

    40/118

These are different stages, different colours, different soundsalso.

    Question by R. Redeen:

Are they different Lights for different people or are they thesame progression of Lights for everybody?

    Answer by Kirpal Singh:

Those who have got background, they go up further. Thosewho have to start, theres a regular way. They will see the sky;theyll see stars, the big star, then transcend it; then mooncomes, then transcend it. Those who have got the background, they start all at once from there thats it.

    Question by R. Redeen:

Yes, Im just thinking, every morning in here, when wemeet, everybody seems, sees various Lights and ah, weseem to be about on the same level, many of us.

    Answer by Kirpal Singh:

(Not clear: [] there are samples). Some they know. There isone who sees two Masters, Master Sawan Singh

(Interruption from the interviewer: That, of course, isbeyond most of us).

Not beyond. I get letters [saying Master appears within]. Ofthose who are regular, they have it. They talk too.

    Question by R. Redeen:

Blue Light, the blue Light, You didnt touch on that.Everybody seems to see the blue Light. Whats that?

    Answer by Kirpal Singh:

Thats the first a loving attitude. You see. The picture of LordKrishna, blue, you see, yellow, blue, thats light, I mean goldenlight, these are three. Outer form you see. His face is blue, robesare yellow. Thats showing the combination of differentdevelopments.

    Question by R. Redeen:

So, so really when you start to meditate, you should try toget at that golden Light as rapidly as possible?

  • 7/27/2019 The Souls Journey II

    41/118

    Answer by Kirpal Singh:

You cannot visualise, you see. That comes of itself. When youreach that plane, naturally that point comes, but that is (as I told

you), that is where Masters form manifests.

    Question by R. Redeen:

And, and these Lights just seem to stay for a short time. Will that increase as time goes by?

    Answer by Kirpal Singh:

By regular practice, regular practice and that time is increasedonly, the longer you can stay in whatever you see, continuouslywithout break. The more progress will also be there.

These star bodies are not like the physical stars, planets and satelliteswe are familiar with from our physical universe but they are muchbrighter and more radiant than our celestial bodies.

I am glad for your Holy meditations wherein you are blessed with the

Now the aspirant can hear the melody of a heavenly bell andbecomes absorbed by its harmonious sound2.

Then, the aspirant will hear the melodies of a conch and will becompletely penetrated by its music.

[] You should not follow Sound to the place from where It comes butstick to your place at the back of the eyes and listen to the Soundcoming from the right side. In this way, the Sound will draw closer, grow stronger and ultimately come from above.

Spiritual Elixir Part II,Chapter II: Meditation,

    by Kirpal Singh, 18941974

When the disciple advances further and higher, the longing soul willget more and more aware of the Sound Current Holy Word or theaudible Stream of Life, the incomparable and inscrutable Word thatpreserves the entire creation from the realm of pure spirit down tothe material realm.

This God-into-expression-Power exists as the Stream of Life, changingits form and tone from realm to realm and yet being always the samein its original nature.

As Guru Nanak states, the practice of connecting oneself with thisunpronounceable Word Light and Sound is a prerequisite for theascent on the mystical Path of Love:

By practice of the Word, one speeds on to the higher Spiritual Planesunhindered; by practice of the Word, one gets into the Spiritual Planeopenly and honourably; by practice of the Word, one escapes the by-

paths of Yama, the King of Death; by practice of the Word, one gets inclose touch with the Truth. Oh, great is the Power of the Word, butfew there be that know it.

    Jap Ji, Stanza 14

When the aspirant further proceeds in the astral realm he isconfronted with three ways:

    First:

The way on his left-hand side is a dark, disgusting region, wherestrange rishis, yogis and adepts of a lower order are in the majority.

This left-side way is the dwelling place ofKal, the Negative Power, themaster of the realms of mind and matter. In some of the Easternteachings Kal is also known as Brahma, and he dominates the fourthdivision as well as the lower regions of the third division of creation.

Though the lower realms of creation are ruled by Kal, he still has toobey the Divine Laws of the Supreme Lord.

Modern theosophy and other current mystic movements assure that

there is an Inner Governmentof the world. And it is its main task tocontrol the stream of power which causes the development of all

  • 7/27/2019 The Souls Journey II

    43/118

races and nations and to contribute to improvement of the world atthe same time. This concealed government lies within the sphere ofKals competence.

The term of Kal means time, hence Kal comprises in its existence

past, present and future as they are understood by people in general. However, it is impossible to fix a cosmic point of time for Kals originor to predict its end. Beginning and ending are unreal terms, createdby mans outgoing faculties that detect an apparent beginning and anapparent ending in everything which happens in his surroundings. From the point of view of a higher consciousness we have to see thata thing which can be considered the beginning of an event in thephysical world has happened unseen as a thought in the mental-astralrealm, and above these realm there are regions which surpass time or Kal itself. But nevertheless, it can be said that the duration of Kalranges from one big cycle to another whereas the universe composedof mind and material remains in its revealed form until it finallydisintegrates.

The main task of Kal as the Negative binding Power in the creationis to bind mankind to the wheel of births and deaths; and the long-lasting upward struggle against the Negative Power is governed bythe Supreme Master in order to liberate us from our sins andimpurities and to prepare us for our Journey to our True Home, theHomestead of all Love and Blissfulness.

If the development of man has been accomplished by the wheel ofrebirth his task in the physical world should be completed, but manssoul gets captured by the unending scenery of the down dragingNegative Power.

Kal is the creator of the laws of nature which are to be obeyed by allas long as they live in the physical body.

In the lotus seventh hath Kal his seat, there shall thou Jot Niranjanmeet.

    Swami Ji

As the creator of the lower worlds, in most of the religiouscommunities he is known as God. The hierarchical representatives ofthe lower, astral and physical plains of existence serve him loyally.

Only the Adepts of Mysticism and Their disciples know of a higher Godthan Kal, and yet the Negative Power is worshipped by millions ofpeople as the Supreme Lord of creation.3

In comparison with the perfection of the True Supreme Lord of Love known as Sat Purush in the Eastern terminology Kal is only anassisting power in the hierarchy of the cosmic universe, and hence he

  • 7/27/2019 The Souls Journey II

    44/118

is not completely free of imperfections. However, in comparison withthe majority of men, Kal is a sublime being, an incarnation of light, wisdom and power.

Kals hierarchic representatives, known as Brahmas Incarnations in

the East, are the Avatars and Prophets, whose mission are toincarnate themselves at any times in order to abolish injustice andevil, to protect the good ones and to punish the evildoers, and toestablish righteousness throughout the world.

These Incarnations bring the promise of salvation to the righteouspeople; but this salvation is still bound to the time scale of the lowerrealms and is therefore not eternal.

The stream of Kal or time is endless to mankind in its course, but withthe guidance of a Master of the Highest Order, souls can transcendtime and space and ascend into the timeless kingdom of the SupremeLord of Love.

Such an Adept of Mysticism does not belong to Kals internalgovernment, although He respects all those who play their roles inbringing order to the creation. But the Adept of Mysticism is an envoyof the Supreme Lord and has got the task to rescue souls and toaccompany them into their True Home.

Thus out of the three ways the aspirant sees during his journey

upwards through the astral realm, the Inner Region of Kals rule is thepath on the left-hand side. In this region you can find thousands andthousands of Holy Men absorbed in deep meditation, enchanted bythe intrigues and flattering of the Negative Power. Incarnations oflower spiritual powers, known as riddhis and siddhis4 supra-naturalpowers in Eastern terminology, are the guardians of these regionssituated at the left side.

These incarnations are real and visible and equipped with anextended consciousness. Pitiless, and on guard they offer the aspirantgreat knowledge and physical power to prevent any further ascent of

his soul, but they cannot withstand the Simran of the five Holy Names the essence of which is the name of the Almighty given by theAdept of Mysticism and they vanish when these names are uttered.

Man who stepped into the astral realm without the guidance of aCompetent Adept of Mysticism are misled by these supra-naturalpowers, and many of the occult circles which grew like mushroomsfrom the soil in the 19th and 20th centuries get their inspiration fromthose riddhis and siddhis.

There are also millions of Prophets of higher or lower rank as well asincarnations of small deities and spiritual hermits who are stranded inthese regions. Unless they are liberated from Kals shackles through

  • 7/27/2019 The Souls Journey II

    45/118

an Adept of Mysticism of the Highest Order, they cannot advance tothe realm of pure Spirituality. No soul that has gone this way withoutthe guidance of an Adept of Mysticism has ever reached the SpiritualRealm of pure Love which is high above the materio-spiritual ones. For the aspirant, however, who was initiated by a Competent Adept of

Mysticism, the ascent is free of all hindrances.

    Second:

The way which the aspirant can see at his right-hand side grantsaccess to far higher universes which, however, end up in a blind alley.

    Third:

The True Main Road of the Adept of Mysticism is the road in the

middle, an immensely brilliant Path which finally leads to the Kingdomof the Supreme Lord.

The aspirant proceeds on this shining way until he reaches the regionof Bunk-Naal, which appears just before the mental and causalregions.

At the high plain of Sahasdal Kanwal, in the upper districts of theastral realm, the aspirant sees the Bright Spiritual Form of the Adeptof Mysticism i.e. Guru Dev; and this is his first Inner Revelationconcerning the True Nature of his Spiritual Leader Whom he only has

seen in the shell of a physical body by now.

Tulsi Sahib, a highest order Adept of Mysticism, stated that in theInner Realms there sparkles a bright Light from the toe-nails of theMaster and enlightens the soul of the devotee.

Maulana Rumi spoke about the experience of seeing the RadiatingForm of the Guru Devas follows:

When the Light of the Master dawns in the soul, you experience the

    secrets of both worlds.

    Guru Arjan asserts:

The Sacred Form of the Master is in my forehead. Whenever I tapinside I see Him there.

And Khawaja Mueen-du-Din Chishti poetically spoke about thisInternal Relationship with the Adept of Mysticism as follows:

Oh Master! The sun cannot withstand the splendour of Your

countenance. Even the moon has covered its face to escape from

    46/118

Your Bright Light. In the person of Nabi (the Prophet) Himself, God haschosen a material form, just like the sunlight in the body of the moon.

Even the Christian writings have described the experience of thevision of the Radiating Form of the Adept of Mysticism very precisely:

And I did turn to see the voice that did speak with me, andhaving turned, I saw seven golden lamp-stands, and in the midstof the seven lamp-stands, (one) like to a son of man, clothed tothe foot, and girt round at the breast with a golden girdle, andHis head and hairs white, as if white wool as snow, and His eyesas a flame of fire; and His feet like to fine brass, as in a furnacehaving been fired, and His voice as a sound of many waters

Now, the Shining Shape of the Adept of Mysticism reveals the highestregions of the astral realm to the vision of the aspirant; and incompanionship with the Adept of Mysticism he proceeds into theregion of Sahasdal Kanwal, the thousand-petalled lotus of cosmicenergy. In this power station all matters of the physical universe andof the astral planes are controlled.

By the mystics these petals are mentioned as the one thousand eyesand ears of God.

One thousand eyes hast Thou, and one thousand faces; still artThou One.

Sahasdal Kanwal is a radiating, pulsating cosmos, and this brightregion is illuminated by a central flame which possesses the mostintense illuminating power of all astral realms. Numerous melodiesand harmonies of enchanting beauty originate from this immensesplendour, and those who are in this region believe in fact that theyare in the ultimate heaven.

And yet, they only stand at the first step of the grand, ascending mainroad of the Adept of Mysticism, of the Holy Shabd the Sound Currentcoming from the right side , for only at this region, the real journey,

When the human mind comes to the regions of Sahasdal Kanwal, itbecomes clear that it has really slept over periods of innumerableincarnations and that it has been now awakened for the higher realmsof the Inner Cosmos.

Even for the most advanced yogis, Sahasdal Kanwal is the last andultimate level, as the streams of life called pranas by EasternMystics and necessary in the Yoga practice do not go beyond it.

This high astral level is incredibly vast and awe-inspiring, and the HolyMen who live here cannot understand that there are countless morebeautiful and far higher Spiritual Realms beyond Sahasdal Kanwal.

But the disciple of an Adept of Mysticism has to ascend far higher inorder to achieve Real Spiritual Liberation.

    Man-making

Basically, there are two stages which have to be passed through, before the struggling disciple rises above body consciousness; andonly then he begins to enjoy the Spiritual Exercises and finally entersthe Path of Spirituality.

At the first stage, the disciple has little or no knowledge at all of theself-examination and he is in a state of abysmal ignorance.

At the second stage the disciple begins to realise that he has gotnumerous faults and weaknesses which have to be overcome beforehe can hope to go above body consciousness; that is when his True

    Path begins.

This second stage, which is a long-lasting struggle with the lowerinclinations of mind to most people, is called man-making. Spiritualityor the ascent from the lower regions of existence to higher regions, where there is unspeakable delight and harmony, is not difficult, it ismans development that is so knotty.

There is no definite time limit to this second stage. Everythingdepends on the disciples capability to discipline himself, to keep theMasters commandments and to develop affection for Him.

The arrogant self is the last hindrance that has to be overcome, andthis is not possible until the soul begins to find itself; if it gets at leasta glimpse of its Real Nature a natural humility will develop in thedisciples as a result of it. Consider that this must not be confused withsubmissiveness. Real Humility possesses power, and yet it is notarrogant.

Though the Masters gracious power is always present to help thedisciple in his struggle, the disciple has to walk through this stage onhis own. Nobody else can do it for him. You were put on the Path andyou were given something to start with being it more or less, depending on the background the soul has, which will stay with youon your further way.

A seed-corn was placed into you, which surely must bear fruit oneday, and the Master in His subtle form of Light and Sound is your
