Train the HeartTrain up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it. PROVERBS 22:6

Did you know that what we really do as SPT’s is TRAIN? That’s right, the “T” in SPT stands for Trainer. We train new believers on five things that God thinks and sees about them. It’s easy to forget that training is our emphasis. The worst thing we could do is pray a prayer of salvation with them, and then turn them over to themselves. In that state of mind they will be quickly defeated.

That is why we need to stay fired-up with a passion to see them grow. We cannot stay silent. Each new believer must know that

their way of living life stinks compare to God’s ways. Isaiah 55:6-8 says,

“Seek the Lord while He may be found, Call upon Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake his way, And the unrighteous man his thoughts; Let him return to the Lord, And He will have mercy on him; And to our God, For He will abundantly pardon. For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways, “ Says the Lord.

Our focus, or key, is to train them to see themselves the way God does. Showing up on time, getting into church, making time

for God, learning to make bold, godly decisions must be a passion for everyone. Every time we meet we want to emphasize these things because it is the direction we want to point them in. But it’s not another meeting... it’s heart training!

time they come to church. Help them find a place to start reading like John, 1 John, etc. Recommend a bible study group like our New Believers Groups. Do everything you can to make spending time in God’s word valuable and important for their spiritual growth.

T R A I N T H E H E A R T

There is not a greater thing we can do than to point others to God. Each time we meet with new believers is an opportunity to train their hearts to look to Him. In each of the five weeks we should keep in mind that as we are training it is the Holy Spirit that is developing a sensitivity to God and to His word. We are Training: A heart to see that they are chosen. A heart to know God’s will. A heart to see Jesus as the One to follow. A heart to hear His voice over all the noise of life, and a heart to be a bold witness of God’s goodness. Let’s continue to grow as spiritual personal trainers...lets train the heart!

Here’s a word for you to pass down to new believers:

Keep your heart with all diligence; for out of it spring the issues of life. - Proverbs 4:23

It’s what the believer places in their heart that God will be able to use again and again to do great things in their lives.

Thank you for your love toward God...you are the best!

May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with each of you!
