The Provision of God in the desert Manna The Bread of Heaven
Exodus 16:4-5 Then the Lord said to Moses, I will rain down bread
from heaven for you. The people are to go out each day and gather
enough for that day. In this way I will test them and see whether
they will follow my instructions. On the sixth day they are to
prepare what they bring in, and that is to be twice as much as they
gather on the other days. Psalm 78:24 He rained down manna for the
people to eat, he gave them the grain of heaven.

cubit wide and a cubit and a half high. 24 Overlay it with pure
gold and make a gold molding around it. Also make around it a rim a
handbreadth wide and put a gold molding on the rim. Make four gold
rings for the table and fasten them to the four corners, where the
four legs are. The rings are to be close to the rim to hold the
poles used in carrying the table. Make the poles of acacia wood,
overlay them with gold and carry the table with them. And make its
plates and dishes of pure gold, as well as its pitchers and bowls
for the pouring out of offerings. Put the bread of the Presence on
this table to be before me at all times. Leviticus 24:5-8 Take the
finest flour and bake twelve loaves of bread, using two-tenths of
an ephah for each loaf. Arrange them in two stacks, six in each
stack, on the table of pure gold before the Lord. By each stack put
some pure incense as a memorial portion to represent the bread and
to be a food offering presented to the Lord. This bread is to be
set out before the Lord regularly, Sabbath after Sabbath, on behalf
of the Israelites, as a lasting covenant.

Jesus: The bread of life He spoke literally He was both
provision and presence He is known in the Breaking of Bread John
6:52-57 Then the Jews began to argue sharply among themselves, How
can this man give us his flesh to eat? Jesus said to them, Very
truly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and
drink his blood, you have no life in you. Whoever eats my flesh and
drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise them up at the
last day. For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink.
Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in
them. Luke 24:30-35 When he was at the table with them, he took
bread, gave thanks, broke it and began to give it to them. Then
their eyes were opened and they recognized him, and he disappeared
from their sight. They asked each other, Were not our hearts
burning within us while he talked with us on the road and opened
the Scriptures to us? They got up and returned at once to
Jerusalem. There they found the Eleven and those with them,
assembled together and saying, It is true! The Lord has risen and
has appeared to Simon. Then the two told what had happened on the
way, and how Jesus was recognized by them when he broke the
bread.
