A BETTER “VIEW” “cross country” scramble
SUNDAY, JULY 15TH, 2018Once again, it’s time to show your LOVE!! Our love for this course and the game of golf is the reason we are all members of the BEST golf course in the tristate area. I know we are all proud of our club and to announce to others that we belong to Lake View.
On Sunday afternoon July 15th at 2pm, the greens committee is hosting our annual “A Better View” golf outing. This year we are going to be playing a “cross country” scramble. Steve is going to set up an interesting layout of our course: one that no one has ever played before!! Last year we resurrected the “backwards” tournament in which we played the course, well, backwards. While this was a blast, there were some dangerous spots out there. By playing a “cross country” layout we can minimize the danger and maximize the thrill.
We want as many people as possible to come out and join in the fun. The purpose of putting on this “fundraiser” is to benefit US, the members of Lake View.
We want to use the money we raise to make improvements at our club. Keeping to their commitment, the board has refrained from imposing any assessments on the membership like most other country clubs resort to. We want to use the revenues we raise to make continued improvements to the golf course.
This outing is open to all members (golf and social members) and their guests. This is going to be a blast. Everyone who played in it last year had a great time. I’m hoping all of you that were able to make it last year can participate again and that those who could not will take this chance to see what it is all about. As you will notice we moved the event to a Sunday in hopes more people could play. The entry fee is $125 a player and includes carts (don’t worry, the money goes to a good cause; YOURSELF!) If you cannot play but still would like to donate please feel generous.
After golf we hope everyone will be able to stick around and enjoy the evening. We will have light hors d’ourves for your enjoyment. Please stay and have dinner and the BEST FOOD of any country club around!!
So, get your team together. Golf buddies, husbands and wives, kids, friends, even a casual acquaintance. We want to make this as fun as possible and enjoy the best golf course and club around. Show your LOVE! This is all for “A BETTER VIEW”.

TOURNAMENT RESULTS
RULES QUESTIONDid Phil Mickelson save or lose strokes in the US Open when he putted the moving ball?
ANSWER: He probably lost some. He was putting for a five when his ball went past the hole and started rolling down the slope of the green. He caught up with it and putted it while it was still moving (6). His ball hit the hole but went several feet past. He then missed the comeback putt (7). Tapped it in for an eight. Under Rule 14-5, Phil was penalized two strokes for making a stroke at a moving ball. Final score 10. Had Phil let his ball roll out and played it, he would have been playing his sixth shot. Could he have got up in down in less than four shots. Probably.

CRANE’S TIP Are you missing your short putts to the right (right handed players). Many players, trying to take the putter straight back and straight through tend to open the face of the putter. Try swinging the putter just like your normal swing. Image a door on hinges. Picture the movement of the outside edge of the door. That should be your putting stroke. Let the toe of the putter close after impact. You are now releasing the putter. The pro shop staff would be glad to help you with this.
