What you need? The experiment

20%water 80%corflour

We realise a non newtonian fluid

Cold temperature Ambient temperature

When you hit the oobleck it is solid

When you move slowly it is fluid

Page 6: The oobleck experience

Cornflour is a polymer composedof starch molecules.

When the oobleck is solid when the oobleck is liquid Molecules tangle molecules slide against one another

Quicksand is a non newtonian fluid

It is a dilatant fluid like the oobleck

Although sand grains are much larger than molecules of starch, starch molecules are quite large and quicksand may react very much like the oobleck.

If you struggle you solidify sand all around you and you are trapped, so you have to move slowly and you need someone to help you to get away.

In every way, as you body is twice less dense than sand you can not drawn yourself , you will float in quicksand.
