I have included helpful tips to ensure a safe summer. If your child has already received their immunizations, please provide a copy to the school nurse when you return for orientation or on the first day of school. PreK/Kinder (4 y/o shots): Dtap #5, IPV #4, Varicella #2 & MMR #2 7 th Grade : Tdap (tetanus) and MCV4 (meningitis) 11 th or 12 th Grade : MCV4 #2 Booster (meningitis) ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ATTENTION PARENTS: If you received a letter from the school nurse during this school year, regarding failed vision, hearing or AN screening and have not had your child seen by a physician yet, PLEASE take care of it this summer and bring their results to the nurse in August. Screening will begin in September for the 2017-18 school year. Please call Mrs. Baker if you have any questions. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ EVEN THOUGH IT IS SUMMERTIME, SLEEP is still good food for the brain and so is keeping a daily routine! Research recommends 10-11 hours of sleep per night for school age children and 8 ½ to 9 ½ hours for teenagers. Tips to help your child sleep better AND stay healthy throughout the summer break: *Develop & enforce a regular sleep schedule. *Maintain a consistent bedtime routine . *Set up a soothing sleep environment.

Make your own Bubbles to Blow (see recipe below)Make Your Own Oobleck to Play With (see recipe below)

OobleckMix up a bowl of Oobleck, a mysterious matter that kids can shape into balls or let ooze from their fingers.

It’s so cool….Here's how:* Pour one cup water into a large mixing bowl.* Add a few drops of food coloring (optional).

* Slowly stir in two cups of cornstarch (use a spoon or fork at first, but you may need to use your hands.)Bubbles

Add 1 cup of water to a bowlMix in 4 tablespoons of dish soap (Joy and Dawn work best)

Add 1 tablespoon of corn syrup or glycerin

Parents, PLEASE Review the safety precautions below, before your children participate in any of the following:

Bicycle Safety 🚲 - Have a Properly fitting Helmet and know the Rules of the Road First.

Firework Safety 🎆 - Only pop fireworks with Adult Supervision.

Lawnmower Safety 👓 - Under 12 years, no push mower. Under 16 years, no riding mower. Wear secure shoes and Safety Glasses.

Sun Safety ☼- Always use Sunscreen (at least 30 spf), Stay hydrated, Take advantage of Shade and

Plan Outdoor Activities when it is cool. Also, never leave children or pets unattended in a vehicle.All-Terrain Vehicles ✋- Adult Supervision is a MUST for all children, especially under 16 years of age. Helmet and Safety Course recommended.

Water Safety 🌊 - Never leave your children unattended. Swimming lessons are a good idea for ages 3 and older.

Boat and Watercraft Safety 🚤 - Wear a Life Jacket and Be Watchful for both people and your surroundings.

Bug and Snake Safety 🐍 - Wear insect repellant. Pay attention and Be Aware of your environment. Leave bees, wasps and snakes alone if you see them and then inform an adult.
