A NOTE FROM THE PRESIDENT Welcome, June! On Memorial Day, we had two parades in Sandston and Washington DC. We had 10 cars participating in the 15th year of the National Memorial Day Parade in DC. The group was split with some riding along with the 101st Airborne and others with the Desert Shield/Desert Storm veterans. The parade was streamed live by Military.com and YouTube. If you watch the YouTube video we appear 1 hour 38 minutes and 1 hour 40 minutes into the parade. Those in attendance were: Dave Lythgoe, Kyle Lythgoe, Curtis Robb, Sandy & Ralph Robbins, Tony Hall, Chris & Stacy Parr, CJ Jones, and Kathy McWilliams. PARADES
NATIONAL PARADE
See the President’s column for the scoop
on the National parade in Washington, DC. Sounds like those of us that did not
participate missed quite an opportunity

parade
Great pic, Tony
SANDSTON PARADE
We had 14 cars for a rather hot day. The
problem was the lack of shade while waiting to start. It was a nice parade with
a lot of people watching. I think all the
cars did OK except mine which kept falling asleep.

BON AIR PARADE
We had 11 cars for the Bon Air parade on May 11th. The parade was the shortest
and fastest parade I've ever done, about
15 minutes plus we were told about a quicker way to get back across the river, I
was home by noon.

Nevada with the meeting location still
being selected. The following items from our January 13th 2019 corporate

much debate at the meeting the
motion to enter into a contract with the Mustang Owners Museum was
passed. October’s 2018 minutes were
approved as written. • Membership Voting Report: Kristie

OTHER Mustang news:
Mustang Club of America’s display drew a
lot of attention from attendees at the Grand opening of the Mustang Owners
Museum (MOM). Some of the thousands of visitors attending Museum opening
were from Australia, Great Britain,
Switzerland, & The Netherland.
For those who were not able to attend the opening ceremonies, I was one of the 1st
500 to enter the Museum and receive a
Museum license plate. The Museum building is large with lots of floor space to
display the many different years and models. The Mustangs on display were all
rare including 1 of the original 1964 ½
Black Mustang convertible with mirrors enabling you to see the side chassis
modifications and under the radiator to
pull the Mustangs around Ford’s rotunda building of the 1964 World’s Fair in New
York. Another of the rare Mustangs was Lee Iacocca’s 2009 Silver 45th Anniversary
edition. If you are into viewing beautiful,
rare (1 of a kind) Mustangs this Museum should be on your Bucket list.
Lee Iaocca’s 2009 Silver
Our September 14th Bass Pro Fall show is
listed on MCA’s website under Events calendar & the Car Club Council of Central
Virginia website.
In May’s “Mustang Times” issue is a great
account, with many pictures, of the MCA
“Mustangs Take Flight” show at the Lone Star Flight Museum, pages 14 to 26.
Those interested in the various design facilities and equipment Ford uses’ for new
Mustangs take a look at the article
“Supercar GT500 by supercomputers” on page 11. The Mustang Owners Club of
Great Britain celebrating their 40th anniversary in 2019 on pages 48 to 50.
Also take a look on page 82 of the May
1966 rally with over 1,300 Mustangs.
For our new members you can join MCA on line. There are 3 different tier levels
which are discussed at MCA’s website
www.mustang.org. When you join MCA please email me at MCA director or Sandy
Robbins at
([email protected] ). As an MCA member you receive “Mustang
Times” magazine included with your membership and NOT available on
newsstands or anywhere else. A list of
National show, pages 72 to 75. You can also advertise your Mustang or Mustang
parts at no charge on pages 76 to 79.
As always check our newsletter, Facebook
websites and events listing for any upcoming activities in our area.

FRIED CHICKEN AND BEER
It was a perfect blend of beautiful
weather, awesome sounding cars, and the laughter among friends. This was the
scene on Sunday, May 19th, when a total of 22 CVMC members and guests
gathered for the cruise down Patterson
Avenue to Tanglewood Ordinary Restaurant.
After everyone enjoyed the delicious
lunch, several people then proceeded to
Hardywood Park Craft Brewery for our private tour. With the 1st of 3 samplings
in hand, we viewed the brew house,
fermentation hall, quality assurance lab, ingredients processing area, and
packaging station. Quite an impressive sight to walk among all those high stacked
wooden beer barrels.
Interesting tidbit of information disclosed
that some of the barrels are sold after initial usage. Great project idea for my
outdoor patio table!

JUNE 2019 Car Hobbyist News From the
Council The council sent a letter to Governor
Northam in May asking for an Attorney General’s opinion on the
(mis)interpretation of the antique vehicle
registration law by Warren County. Antique owners have actually been
ticketed for having passengers and
personal belongings in an antique vehicle – both of which are not against the law.
We are waiting to hear from the governor and I will post his response.
The EPA has until June 1 to come up with a new E15 gasoline rule that will allow for
the year round sale of E15 gasoline. Currently E15 sales are banned during the
summer because it produces more
pollution than during the winter months. A draft of the proposed rule has been sent
to the White House Office of Budget for
review. The proposed rule has been published and put out for public comment
– the comment period ended last month. Congressional approval is not required.
The process needs to be completed before
June 1 which begins the summer months as determined by the EPA. Summer and
winter gasolines have different blends. No one is sure what will have to be done if
the rule is not in place by June 1.
Have you heard about ICE-ing? This is a
new trend where big trucks – both diesel and gasoline – back up to Tesla charging
stations and block the electric cars from
using the chargers. This has become a big enough problem that these nine states
Arizona, California, Florida, Hawaii,
Illinois, Massachusetts, Oregon, Rhode Island and Washington plus some cities
have passed laws against ICE-ing. The I, C and E are taken from internal
combustion engine.
In Loudoun County, Virginia an SUV was
towed for blocking a charging station. The station was on private property with signs
stating “ELECTRIC CAR PARKING ONLY –
TOWING ENFORCED”.
Electric vehicles do not use gasoline so their owners are not paying a gasoline tax
that is used for roads. Legislators in
Illinois have proposed increasing the registration fees for electrics from $17.50
a year to $1000 a year. Electric vehicle
owners have been given tax breaks to entice them to buy the vehicles. I’m sure
this is one reason people are ICE-ing them. The feds offer up to $7500 tax credit for buying a plug-in vehicle whether
hybrid or all electric. The credit depends on the battery size. The cost for buying
these vehicles is higher than for a gasoline vehicle. A bill in the General Assembly in 2018 would have allowed for a $3500 tax
credit for the purchase of an electric vehicle but it was killed in subcommittee.
