From the National Weather Service Weather Nadine Anderson Frances Nadine Anderson, 86, a longtime bookkeeper at Anderson’s Farm and Home Center, died Friday, March 26, 2010, at the Decatur County Hospital in Oberlin. She was born July 19, 1923, in Norton, the daughter of Hjalmer and Bessie (Huff) Alstrom. She was reared on a farm in the Lund Community southwest of Oberlin. She attended Swede Home School, graduated from Decatur Community High School in 1941, and completed teacher’s training in Greeley, Colo. She taught school one year in a rural school in Decatur County and three years in the Oberlin schools. She married Donald Francis Anderson on June 23, 1945, at the Lund Covenant Church. They lived in Jacksonville, Fla., while he was in the Navy and in Boulder, Colo., where he attended the University of Colorado. They then moved back to Oberlin and joined his father in business. She was a member of the Oberlin Covenant Church, Pi Alpha Club, and Gideons International. Survivors include her husband Donald Anderson, Oberlin; seven children, Marilee and David Lambert, Littleton, Colo.; Roland and Peggy Anderson, Topeka; Alan and Guynn Anderson, Baytown, Texas; Kary and Jackie Anderson, Oberlin; Kent Anderson, San Diego, Calif.; Roger and Pamela Anderson, Overland Park, and Jeffrey and Gwen Anderson, Council Grove; one brother, Kieth and Dorothy Alstrom, Oberlin; eight grandchildren, and 12 great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Max and Jacqueline Alstrom. Funeral services were held Monday morning at the Oberlin Covenant Church. Fern May Jording Fern May Jording, 93, a longtime resident of Decatur County, died Saturday, March 27, 2010, at the Cedar Living Center in Oberlin. She was born May 17, 1916, in Decatur County, the daughter of Franklin and Augusta (Soderlund) Towery. She was reared on the family farm east of Kanona in Altory Township. She attended school in Kanona and a rural school. The family later moved to Almena. She married Alvin Jording on Nov. 8, 1935, in Norton. They made their home for 13 years on a farm 12 miles east of Oberlin. They also lived in Englewood, Colo., for a year before returning to Oberlin. She worked for Southwestern Bell as an operator for 12 years. She later was employed at Ward Drug Store and Addleman Drug Store in Oberlin. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, St. John’s Altar Guild, and Lutheran Women’s Missionary League. She was a member of the Alpha Kappa Club and American Legion Auxiliary. Survivors include two children, Clayton Jording, Medford, Ore., and Marjorie and Philip Law, Lakewood, Colo.; a brother, Francis Towery, Indiantown, Fla.; three sisters, Norma Kellett, Longmont, Colo.; Leola Curtis, Medford, Ore.; and Lila Englehart, Almena; eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; a step-great- granddaughter; two great-great- grandchildren; three brothers- in-law, Doyle Fredrickson, Bob Kelley, and Frank Curtis; and two sisters-in-law, Esther Hoffbauer and Esther Jording. longtime bookkeeper at Anderson’s Farm and Home Center, died Friday, March 26, 2010, at the Decatur County Hospital in Oberlin.
