Term 2 LibrarianWe welcome Mrs Marlene Evans to the Lindisfarne Community. Marlene has taken over for Mr Ian Ayers whilst he is on long service leave this term. Prior to joining us, Marlene was librarian at Bishop Druitt College in Coffs Harbour and brings with her a wealth of knowledge and experience.
Baby NewsCongratulations to Mrs Melanie Wischer (Preschool Teacher Assistant), on the birth of her baby boy, Ryan and to Mr Tim Pettit and his wife Elena, on the recent birth of their baby girl, Shanti. Mr Pettit has enjoyed precious time at home this week with his beautiful daughter and will return to school late next week.
P&F Mother’s Day StallA busy group of volunteers have been working industriously to create the most beautiful Mother’s Day gifts that will be available for all students from Preschool to Year 6 to purchase for their mothers on Friday 9 May. There will be a range of gifts for either $5 or $10 and students are invited to bring along the appropriate money to buy a gift on the day.
Public Speaking CompetitionAt the end of last term all parents and guardians were sent an email detailing changes that have been made to our Public Speaking competition. We hope the new changes make it easier to help your child prepare for the event. I would like to thank Kim Shepherd and Amy Skene both Speech and Drama teachers, for their invaluable expertise in assisting us to make these changes.

Welcome back to Term 2. The Preschool and Kindergarten children have been very excited about the holidays and all the wonderful things they did with their families.
The teachers have another term full of fun and learning in store.
Guinea Pig Home ProgramThank you to the Henderson family who looked after the Preschool guinea pigs over the holidays. They have returned to school looking very fat and happy. I am sure they had lots of cuddles over their time with Bridget, Ella and Archie.
If you would like to take the guinea pigs home for the weekend please put your name down on the roster in the Preschool foyer and we will have them ready for you to take at the appropriate time.
Mother’s Day at PreschoolAll Preschool mums have been invited to come along to a special Mother’s Day morning on Monday 12 May. All children should have brought home an invitation.
Easter Hat ParadeThank you those parents who were able to attend the ELC Easter Hat Celebrations just before the holidays and thanks also for the efforts with the beautiful Easter Hats.
The children (and teachers) did a great job with the songs. Thank you to Miss Ross and also Casey Tangye and Amy Skene for their time and effort helping to make the day fun.
Thank you to our friendly Easter Bunny for hopping by and giving everyone a cuddle and a chocolate egg.

Stage 3 NewsStage 3 Performing ArtsNext week the students of Stage 3 will commence a new Performing Arts Program under the expert guidance of Casey Tangye (Dance) and Amy Skene (Drama). These classes will support, foster and nurture their confidence, self worth, vocal and physical awareness. The dance component will involve dance tuition with a strong emphasis on body strength, health and positive image. Students will be guided through the process of warm up through to learning choreography. Drama students will explore mime, improvisation, characterisation and modulation techniques, stagecraft and the process of taking a performance from page to stage. We are all very excited to commence our lessons next week and would like to welcome Casey and Amy to Stage 3.
Year 6 eBook SharingIn the last week of Term 1, Year 6 visited the Year 2 students at Sunshine Avenue to share the eBooks that they created in class with the theme ‘Diversity’. We also completed some activities with them so that they had a good understanding of what ‘Diversity’ means. We really enjoyed having an authentic audience to share our work with and look forward to visiting our Year 2 buddies again soon.
