THE COLLECTS - 2nd Sunday after Christmas (Page 159 BCP) O God, who wonderfully created, and yet more wonderfully restored, the dignity of human nature: Grant that we may share the divine life of him who humbled himself to share our humanity, your Son Jesus Christ; who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

The Epiphany (Page 160 BCP) O God, by the leading of a star you manifested your only Son to the peoples of the earth: Lead us, who know you now by faith, to your presence, where we may see your glory face to face; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

REFLECTION FIRST LESSON: This Old Testament reading was originally composed as a vision of hope, full of joy, for the restoration of the northern tribes of Israel.

1st LESSON: 7:30a.m. - Peter Rochester 9:15a.m. - Denise Boyce- Worrell

FIRST LESSON (OLD TESTAMENT): Jeremiah 31:7-14 Thus says the Lord: "Sing aloud with gladness for Jacob, and raise shouts for the chief of the nations; proclaim, give praise, and say, `The Lord has saved his people, the remnant of Israel.' Behold, I will bring them from the north country, and gather them from the farthest parts of the earth, among them the blind and the lame, the woman with child and her who is in travail, together; a great company, they shall return here. With weeping they shall come, and with consolations I will lead them back, I will make them walk by brooks of water, in a straight path in which they shall not stumble; for I am a father to Israel, and Ephraim is my first-born. "Hear the word of the Lord, O nations, and declare it in the coastlands afar off; say, `He who scattered Israel will gather him, and will keep him as a shepherd keeps his flock.' For the Lord has ransomed Jacob, and has redeemed him from hands too strong for him. They shall come and sing aloud on the height of Zion, and they shall be radiant over the goodness of the Lord, over the grain, the wine, and the oil, and over the young of the flock and the herd; their life shall be like a watered garden, and they shall languish no more. Then shall the maidens rejoice in the dance, and the young men and the old shall be merry. I will turn their mourning into joy, I will comfort them, and give them gladness for sorrow. I will feast the soul of the priests with abundance, and my people shall be satisfied with my goodness, says the Lord."

REFLECTION THE PSALM: A song of the pilgrims, happiness as they come to worship in the house of the Lord.

PSALM: PSALM: PSALM: PSALM: 84 (7:30a.m. - Page 578 BCP)

1. O HOW amiable are thy dwellings : thou Lord of hosts! 2. My soul hath a desire and longing to enter into the courts of the Lord : my heart and my flesh rejoice in the living God. 3. Yea, the sparrow hath found her an house, and the swallow a nest where she may lay her young : even thy altars, O Lord of hosts, my King and my God.

Page 3: The new fisherman january 4th, 2015

4. Blessed are they that dwell in thy house : they will be alway praising thee. 5. Blessed is the man whose strength is in thee : in whose heart are thy ways. 6. Who going through the vale of misery use it for a well : and the pools are filled with water. 7. They will go from strength to strength : and unto the God of gods appeareth every one of them in Sion. 8. O Lord God of hosts, hear my prayer :hearken, O God of Jacob. 9. Behold, O God our defender : and look upon the face of thine Anointed. 10. For one day in thy courts : is better than a thousand. 11. I had rather be a door-keeper in the house of my God : than to dwell in the tents of ungodliness. 12. For the Lord God is a light and defence : the Lord will give grace and worship, and no good thing shall he withhold from them that live a godly life. 13. O Lord God of hosts : blessed is the man that putteth his trust in thee.

REFLECTION SECOND LESSON: This New Testament lesson opens with praise to God for God’s blessings, together with thanksgiving and prayers that these spiritual graces may be continued.

2nd LESSON: 7:30a.m. - Janice Turton 9:15a.m. - Men’s Fellowship

SECOND LESSON: SECOND LESSON: SECOND LESSON: SECOND LESSON: Ephesians 1:3-6, 15-19a Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. He destined us in love to be his sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will, to the praise of his glorious grace which he freely bestowed on us in the Beloved. For this reason, because I have heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love toward all the saints, I do not cease to give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers, that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him, having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power in us who believe

REFLECTION THE GOSPEL: Our Gospel is the story of Joseph and Mary escaping to Egypt with the infant Jesus. They flee the jealous wrath of King Herod and are able to return to live in Nazareth only after his death.

THE GOSPEL: THE GOSPEL: THE GOSPEL: THE GOSPEL: Matthew 2:13-15, 19-23 When the wise men had departed from Herod’s court, behold, an angel of the Lord

GRADUAL HYMN 740 MP

We three kings of Orient are, bearing gifts we travel afar, field and fountain, moor and mountain, following yonder star:

O star of wonder, star of night, star with royal beauty bright, westward leading, still proceeding, guide us to the perfect light!

Born a King on Bethlehem's plain, gold I bring to crown Him again: King for ever, ceasing never,

over us all to reign.

Frankincense for Jesus have I, God on earth yet Priest on nigh; prayer and praising, all men raising: worship is earth’s reply.

Myrrh is mine: its bitter perfume tells of His death and Calvary’s gloom; sorrowing, sighing, bleeding, dying, sealed in a stone-cold tomb.

Glorious now behold Him arise, King and God and sacrifice; Heaven sings out, ‘Alleluia’, ‘Amen!’ the earth replies.

appeared to Joseph in a dream and said, "Rise, take the child and his mother, and flee to Egypt, and remain there till I tell you; for Herod is about to search for the child, to destroy him." And he rose and took the child and his mother by night, and departed to Egypt, and remained there until the death of Herod. This was to fulfil what the Lord had spoken by the prophet, "Out of Egypt have I called my son." But when Herod died, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt, saying, "Rise, take the child and his mother, and go to the land of Israel, for those who sought the child's life are dead." And he rose and took the child and his mother, and went to the land of Israel. But when he heard that Archelaus reigned over Judea in place of his father Herod, he was afraid to go there, and being warned in a dream he withdrew to the district of Galilee. And he went and dwelt in a city called Nazareth, that what was spoken by the prophets might be fulfilled, "He shall be called a Nazarene."

Or

Our Gospel tells the story of Jesus’ pilgrimage to Jerusalem as a young man of twelve, and the depths of his understanding in conversation with the teachers in the temple.

THE GOSPEL: THE GOSPEL: THE GOSPEL: THE GOSPEL: Luke 2:41-52 Now Jesus’ parents went to Jerusalem every year at the feast of the Passover. And when he was twelve years old, they went up according to custom; and when the feast was ended, as they were returning, the boy Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem. His parents did not know it, but supposing him to be in the company they went a day's journey, and they sought him among their kinsfolk and acquaintances; and when they did not find him, they returned to Jerusalem, seeking him. After three days they found him in the temple, sitting among the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions; and all who heard him were amazed at his understanding and his answers. And when they saw him they were astonished; and his mother said to him, "Son, why have you treated us so? Behold, your father and I have been looking for you anxiously." And he said to them, "How is it that you sought me? Did you not know that I must be in my Father's house?" And they did not understand the saying which he spoke to them. And he went down with them and came to Nazareth, and was obedient to them; and his mother kept all these things in her heart. And Jesus increased in wisdom and in stature, and in favor with God and man.

Or

Matthew 2:1-12 Our Gospel is the story of the wise men from the east, who, guided by a star, come to worship the child born to be King.

THE SERMON

HYMN AFTER THE SERMON - 77

THE NICENE CREED - Page 104

Bidding Prayer Let us pray, trusting in God who receives all who come to him for grace.

As we have been granted the knowledge of God which comes only through the revelation of his Son, we pray that the Church may be a light to the world…Confident in truth and enabled by grace, may all her people tell with their lips and follow in their lives the new law of love.

Give to all people knowledge of the power of God who made the world and all that is in it…Grant humility to those who exercise human power, and give them right judgement in their decisions…Be merciful to those who do not know Christ or will not receive him, and let his light break through their darkness.

Draw closer to our families, our friends, and our colleagues, with the love that has come into the world…Make us as those who are born again, not of human will but of God, the

only source of life and the giver of grace.

Have mercy on all who are in error and guide them into the true light of Christ…Bring the fullness of life to those who have made their lives narrow by rejecting love…Comfort and heal the sick and all who suffer, and strengthen with grace those who care for them.

Hold in eternal life the faithful departed who have witnessed to the truth of Christ in this world…May the light which led them on their way shine on them as perpetual light and make them perfect by his grace.

We pray in the name of Christ in whom we have received grace upon grace. Amen.

This continues to be working well, as we have been able to reduce the cost of the envelopes and also the wastage. The persons responsible for the counting of money on Sundays are finding the job much easier.

We are in the process of assembling a tent to house the playground for the Day Care Centre. The tent has been donated by Mrs. Regine Sixt and her Charity “Drying Little Tears” will provide the equipment for the area.

Smile: There were three guys talking in the pub. Two of them are talking about the amount of control they have over their wives, while the third remains quiet. After a while one of the first two turns to the third and says, "Well, what about you, what sort of control do you have over your wife?" The third fellow says "I'll tell you. Just the other night my wife came to me on her hands and knees." The first two guys were amazed. "What happened then?" they asked. "She said, 'get out from under the bed and fight like a man'."
