Pastor’s Corner
T he Blessed Virgin Mary, the Mother of God, appeared six times to three children, Lucia, Francisco, and Jacinta, between May 13 and October 13, 1917. She came to the little village of Fatima which had remained faithful to the Catholic Church during the recent persecutions by the government. Our Lady came with a message from God to every man, woman, and child of our century. Our Lady of Fatima promised that the whole world would be in peace, and that many souls would go to Heaven if Her requests were listened to and obeyed. She told us that war is a punishment for sin; that God would punish the world for its sins in our time by means of war, hunger, persecution of the Church and persecution of the Holy Father, the Pope, unless we listened to and obeyed the commands of God. The message is an anguished appeal of our Heavenly Mother, Who sees us in great danger and Who comes to offer Her help and advice. Her message is also a prophesy, a clear indication of what was about to transpire in the 20th century, and what is still going to happen infallibly in the near future, depending on our response to Her requests. In all Her appearances at Fatima, the Blessed Mother repeatedly emphasized the necessity of praying the Rosary daily, of wearing the Brown Scapular of Mount Carmel and of performing acts of reparation and sacrifice. She also asked that the Faithful practice a new devotion of reparation on the first Saturday of five consecutive months ("The Five First Saturdays")
As a great sign of the whole message truly coming from God, a marvelous miracle was worked in the sky above Fatima before 70,000 witnesses on October 13, 1917, the time, date and place that Lucy and the other two children had prophesized in the name of Our Lady of Fatima. The children were told by Our Lady that God would perform a miracle so that people would believe in the apparitions. The date the children was October 13, 1917, in Fatima. On that date, 70,000 people came to see the phenomenon. The miracle occurred with the sun. All could stare perfectly at the sun without blinking, or even hurting their eyes. While all were watching the sun, it rotated, got large and small, got close to the people, and got far away from them. The sun "danced ". Every single person who was there testified to seeing the sun dance, even non-believers who immediately dropped onto their knees and begged for forgiveness.
Our Lady of Fatima continues to work miracles today through Fatima water which is sent from Fatima, Portugal around the world. This Fatima water sprang up in Fatima at the spot the Bishop told people to dig, very near where Our Lady appeared at the Cova de Iria (the Cove of Peace) in Fatima. The water is known to cure people with sickness and poor health. Still, other people are cured when they go on pilgrimage to Fatima, which is about 90 miles north of Lisbon, Portugal.
Today is also Mother’s Day! It is said that the heart that is closest to God’s heart is that of a mother. Only God knows
the untold sacrifices, pain, labor, and love of mothers!
Thank you, dear mothers!
Happy Mother’s Day!

100 - lecie Objawień Matki Bożej Fatimskiej
W chwili objawień Najświętszej Maryi Panny, Łucja de Jesus, Franciszek i Hiacynta Marto mieli po dziesięć, dziewięć i siedem lat. Cała trójka mieszkała w Aljustrel, w miejscu należącym do parafii fatimskiej. Objawienia miały miejsce na małym skrawku ziemi należącym do rodziców Łucji, nazywanym Cova da Iria, i znajdującym się dwa i pół kilometra od Fatimy na drodze do Leirii. Matka Boża ukazała się im na krzewie zwanym ilex, będącym karłowatą odmianą dębu, mierzącym nieco ponad metr wysokości.
Franciszek widział Maryję, lecz Jej nie słyszał. Hiacynta Ją widziała i słyszała. Łucja natomiast widziała, słyszała i rozmawiała z Nią.
ŁUCJA: A czego Pani ode mnie chce? Potem powiem wam, kim jestem i czego chcę. Następnie powrócę tu jeszcze siódmy raz. ŁUCJA: A ja też pójdę do nieba? MATKA BOŻA: Tak, pójdziesz. ŁUCJA: A Hiacynta? MATKA BOŻA: Także. ŁUCJA: A Franciszek?
Polskie Wiadomości ŁUCJA: A Amelia? MATKA BOŻA: Będzie w czyśćcu do końca świata. MATKA BOŻA: A więc będziecie musieli wiele wycierpieć.
Modlitwa do Matki Bożej Fatimskiej
Pani Aniołów, Potężna Niebios Królowo,
Matko Boża i Matko nasza Fatimska; Tobie Bóg powierzył posłannictwo i władzę,
abyś starła głowę szatana, i osłaniała swoje ziemskie dzieci przed jego złowrogim wpływem.
Ciebie Syn Twój a Pan Nasz Jezus Chrystus dał nam jako Przedziwną Pomoc i Obronę,
Ty zaś, Pełna Ducha Świętego, uzdrawiasz nas lekarstwem pokuty i orężem modlitwy różańcowej
umacniasz do walki z mocami ciemności. Prosimy Cię pokornie, rozkaż hufcom anielskim,
aby ścigały złe duchy, stłumiły ich zuchwałość, a zwalczając je wszędzie, strąciły na dno piekła.
Święci Archaniołowie i Aniołowie, brońcie nas i strzeżcie nas. Amen

Your Help is Needed ... During our recent Lenten Mission, we had the opportunity to listen and be inspired by Fr. Bob Lombardo, he truly was wonderful, and hope we will meet him again.
We also had the pleasure to meet some of the Sisters from the Mission of Our Lady of the Angels which Fr. Bob is the pastor.
These Sisters minister to some of the poorest people on the west side of Chicago, they are called “Franciscans of the Eucharist”. We had the pleasure to talk to one of the sisters, Sister Jessica, at some length, in which we found out some of their immediate needs beyond food. I un-derstand they have an arrangement with some of the large food chains, for outdated breads, meat, and dairy etc. We found out they are in need of bedding, towels, linens, etc. I told her we would attempt to be of some help. During the weeks of May 7, and 14th, w e w ill be collecting NEW and GENTLY USED tow els, bed sheets, pillow cases, and summer blankets.
Please be sure they are clean, folded, boxed, or bagged.
This is a great way to clean your linen closet, and help some people who are in need of some of the basics of life
Thanks in advance for your generous help.

THE WAY Today we sense the apostles’ trepidation as they begin to realize that the Lord would soon be leaving them. In their fear, they ask, “Master, we do not know where you are going; how can we know the way?” (John 14:5). Jesus tells them that he is the way. The Easter season has been a time of growing in Easter faith so that we, too, may learn to know that Jesus is the way. We can take comfort in the Lord’s promise that he is going to his Father’s house to prepare a place for us, his chosen people who have been called out of darkness into God’s wonderful light. As the paschal candle continues to burn during this holy season, let us remember that in bap-tism we were given the light of Christ. With Christ our light as the beacon lighting our way, let us march to-ward the glory of Pentecost. © Copyright, J. S. Paluch Co. READINGS FOR THE WEEK Monday: Acts 14:5-18; Ps 115:1-4, 15-16; Jn 14:21-26 Tuesday: Acts 14:19-28; Ps 145:10-13ab, 21; Jn 14:27-31a Wednesday: Acts 15:1-6; Ps 122:1-5; Jn 15:1-8 Thursday: Acts 15:7-21; Ps 96:1-3, 10; Jn 15:9-11 Friday: Acts 15:22-31; Ps 57:8-10, 12; Jn 15:12-17 Saturday: Acts 16:1-10; Ps 100:1b-3, 5; Jn 15:18-21 Sunday: Acts 8:5-8, 14-17; Ps 66:1-7, 16, 20; 1 Pt 3:15-18 or 1 Pt 4:13-16; Jn 14:15-21 or Jn 17:1-11a TREASURES FROM OUR TRADITION In many parish churches, more rarely in monastery churches and cathedrals, the tabernacle with the Blessed Sacrament is visible from a doorway or aisle in the church. Normally, a person is to give the proper sign of reverence, a genuflection, when passing in proximity to the tabernacle. The word “genuflect” comes from Latin roots meaning bending (or flexing) the knee. A common-sense exception to the rule is for a sacris-tan who is taking care of the church and can’t be genuflecting every thirty seconds during a vacuum run. Also excepted are persons in procession entrusted with important symbols of the Lord’s presence. So, a crossbearer or a minister carrying the Gospel book, or ministers on their way to their Communion stations do not genu-flect. For everyone else, the usual sign of reverence for the Lord’s presence in the Blessed Sacrament is to gen-uflect on the right knee. The oldest form of reverence during prayer in our tradition is standing; kneeling or genuflecting is a sign borrowed from old civic practice. The posture of kneeling, even on one knee, is a sign of submission. Servants would take this position before their masters in the ancient world. It said: I’m not running away, I’m yours, I’m here for you. This is what your genuflection says when you enter a Catholic church where the place of res-ervation of the Blessed Sacrament is visible to you: I’m yours. —Rev. (Juan 14:5). © Copyright, J. S. Paluch Co.
