If you are going to be away from more than 3 weeks for rehearsal please consider if you should audition.

If you are away for any period more than a weeks (that you know of) please advises on your audition sheet.

If you are going to be away of any shows or in the 2 weeks leading up to the show please don’t audition.

There are 5 Sunday rehearsal during the rehearsal period.

Rehearsal will start at 7.30 sharp. Please be general and vocally warmed up prior. Rehearsal will finish by 10.30.

Show Dates

Galileo Figaro Galileo Figaro, the hero, the one with the words, the dreamer. He needs to be a young man with great charisma with good comic timing. Must have very strong high tenor voice, he sing all the high stuff. Needs to be able to make the audience understand the horror of hearing the voice and music in his head and follow his development into the hero. The audience must like and support him

Vocal Range Galileo Vocal range: high rock voice with strong falsetto, D below middle C to Bb above middle C - full voice, falsetto to E two above middle

Scaramouche

Scaramouche, his chick, the one that can play the axe. She need to be a young woman with balls and rock chick but again with good comic timing. Must have a strong rock voice and would be great if she can play the electric guitar. Almost communicates directly with the audience, particularly when she is pointing out that Galileo is being a bit of a dick.

Scaramouche Vocal range: strong rock belt, E below middle C to E two above middle C.

The Killer Queen The Killer Queen, the businesswoman that rules the world. Needs a big belting voice, she must be the star. Larger than life, hard as ice able to keep the audience in her hand. Could be a larger lady but I would consider this character in Drag. Would be great if she can move well and she could be older.

Killer Queen Vocal range: full soul/rock voice. E below middle C to E two above middle C.

Khashoggi Khashoggi her sidekick and head of the secret police. Again must have a strong tenor voice and with charisma in his own way. Should be more mature and needs to be able to portray great power and brutality but still be submissive to the Queen.

Khashoggi Vocal range: high rock baritone with strong falsetto, D below middle C to a above middle C full voice, falsetto to E two above middle

BuddyBuddy the leader of the bohemians. Needs to be able to sing well but more so should be able to communicate directly with the audience. Should be older but still needs to able to rock out hard. He is the leader but is a bit of an old stoner.

Buddy Vocal Range: Light rock voice-pleasant Baritone. E below middle C to E above middle C

Brit Spears and Oz Osborn Brit Spears (male) and Oz Osborn (female) members of the bohemians, who spending their days looking for the Dreamer. They both need to be great rock singers. Fun and able to have the audience like them. Brit is killed at the end of act 1 and must be remembered by the audience with fondness.

Britney Vocal range: full rock voice with ‘scream’. D below middle C to B above middle C.

OZ Vocal range: strong rock belt. A below middle C to E two above middle C.

The ensemble I wish to expand from what was done professional. I basically wish to have 2 ensemble.

The 1st the Ga Ga who play the Ga Ga kids, Ga Ga yuppie. They must all be strong dancers, be younger and good singers. 4 or 5 would have very small amounts of dialogue. They all need to look the same and possibly androgynous. Would be nice to have equal numbers of men as women but I can get away with more women. They would be performing; Radio Ga Ga, Somebody to love, Killer Queen, Now I’m here, A kind of Magic, Fat bottomed girls, We are the champions and Bohemian rhapsody. They would sing off stage all the numbers performed by the bohemians.

The 2nd the Bohemians. They must all be able the move well, some would need to be strong dancers. They all must be strong singers. There should be a wider range of ages, including some more mature performers. All need to be able to hold strong character and many need to able to deliver dialogue. Need to be as individualistic in character and age as possible and should be equal male and female. They would be performing; I want it all, Headlong, No one but you, Crazy little thing called love, Flash, Seven seas of Rhye, The days of our lives, Bicycle race, We will rock you, We are the champions and Bohemian rhapsody. They would sing off stage all the numbers performed by the Ga Ga.

I would like to have between 16 and 24 people in each ensemble. There would be another small groups of dancers. They will playing the Ga Ga secret police, teachers and possibly nurses. There would hopefully be 8 in this group. They will be in most of the Ga Ga songs plus a number of other scenes and fight sequences. They must be the strongest dancers and have the same look as the Ga Ga ensemble.

I wish to extend the ensemble for a number of reason;

1st so more society members can be involved in the show.

2nd so the age of those on stage can include some of the more mature members of the society

3rd There are so many big production numbers, by dividing them amongst the two ensembles, it will make it possible to achieve the highest standards. This is partly because this is a shorter rehearsal period with the Xmas break in the middle. Each ensemble will sing off stage for the other ensemble.

4th If there is only one ensemble there would be a number of massive and quick costume changes, which I would like to avoid.

5th if there is only one ensemble there would be cast changing makeup and wigs many times, which I would like to avoid.

If we don’t get the numbers of people audition we can easerly revert to one ensemble with a couple of very hard costume changes

Audition Process

You will audition in groups of 30 people in at a time. Those auditioning will need to book for one of four group. Groups will be on the Sunday 22nd Oct – starting at 10am, 11.30am, 2pm and 3.30pm and one on Monday 23rd Oct starting at 7pm. The Monday night section is specifically for the cast of Chicago and they will get first preference. We will endeavour to find a way for everyone to audition and if these times don’t suit you please contact our production manager.

Over 90 minutes these group would be taught a short dance routine, two short sections of singing as well as a short piece of dialogue and time to read it. The songs will be the first two stanzas in Radio GaGa, and Crazy Little Thing Called Love.

Each person will sing a solo, their choice of either song that will be taught. We will then see the dance routine in a group of four or five. Lastly is the dialogue piec-es with four people at a time, some people may get a chance to read twice. To keep this process fair, the order of performance will be selected by pulling a number out of a hat. The choreographer will also choose people at the end to attempt a harder dance routine.

At this time we will take individual and group photos against the mirror (marked with heights). This is so we have a good record of heights and sizes. We will also video record all performances, dance, singing and dialogue.

After the Sunday, the artistic team will select the people we wish to hear audition further for the leads, and these people will be contacted on the Sunday evening. For the group auditioning on the Monday night the artistic team will need to decide and notified after the section. These people will be told to prepare a section of music to sing. These sections will be the hardest singing sections that each character will have in the show.
