This pop-up presentation can be used over all types of lakebed and is especially effective for fishing over choddy bottoms. When set correctly, the hook will sit on the lakebed like a claw, waiting and ready to take hold of any unsuspecting carp’s bottom lip, making this rig devastatingly effective at turning pick-ups into solid hook holds. Not only is this rig highly efficient at hooking carp, but it also has the added bonus that the hook can be changed extremely easily when needed. This makes it an ideal rig for all commercial carp anglers, where regular casting and playing fish can easily cause hooks to lose their sharpness. It’s all well and good using a hook sharpener to give your hooks a new lease of life, but they will never be as effective as a chemically sharpened one straight out of a pack. This is a rig that I use a great deal in my own fishing. It has seen me land many good fish over the years and is one that I always have full confidence in using. I always test my rigs in the margins to make sure that they sit correctly and that the amount of weight holding the hookbait down is sufficient. Ideally your bait should be critically- balanced enough to fall through the water column nice and slowly. This not only makes it an easy mouthful for the carp to suck in, but it also makes sure that it has a soft landing over the lakebed minimising the chances of it burying itself in any bottom debris. Whether you prefer to target large, low stock venues or runs waters, this is a rig that will come in handy for both. It can be fished in conjunction with all sorts of lead set-ups and is very much an all-rounder. Be sure to give it a try! The amount of weight you add to your set-up will depend on the size of your pop-up. 02) The first thing to do when tying the rig is to create a loop of around an inch long; this will be where the hook attaches to. Make sure that this knot is moistened and tightened thoroughly. 04) Once the loop has been threaded fully through the eye of the hook, take one of the new ACE Pop-Up Pegs (these make attaching a bait child’s play!) and thread the loop through this as well. 06) Now take an ACE Strip-Eaze Tool and remove a centimetre of outer-coating just behind the loop knot. This will create a pivot giving the rig a bit of free movement and help it to act naturally underwater. 08) Finally, you now need to attach your chosen pop-up to your finished rig. To do this, simply screw one on. When a fish picks up the hookbait, it will struggle to eject it due to its blowback properties. Deadly! Nailed on the Multi Rig

a number of years back and is a rig that is still outwitting many wary old carp. This pop-up presentation can be used over all types of lakebed and is especially e ective for fi shing over choddy bottoms. When set correctly, the hook will sit on the lakebed like a claw, waiting and ready to take hold of any unsuspecting carp’s bottom lip, making this rig devastatingly e ective at turning pick-ups into solid hook holds.

Not only is this rig highly e cient at hooking carp, but it also has the added bonus that the hook can be changed extremely easily when needed. This makes it an ideal rig for all commercial carp anglers,

HOW TO TIE THE MULTI RIG

01) This rig works best when using a coated braid. This not only helps to reduce tangles,

but helps me to create a sti ‘D’ that the pop-up can freely move over. I use ACE

Camo Core for this set-up.

03) The ideal hook pattern is a short shank with a curve, this helps to furthermore

increase the hooking potential of the rig. To attach this, take your chosen hook and

thread the loop through the eye.

05) With them both threaded onto the loop, now feed both through the inside of

the loop and pull down to lock them in place. Ideally you will want around half-an-inch of

the loop either side of the hook’s eye.

07) A split shot or blob of tungsten putty now needs to be pinched onto the area you

have just stripped back. The amount of weight you add to your set-up will depend

on the size of your pop-up.

02) The fi rst thing to do when tying the rig is to create a loop of around an inch

long; this will be where the hook attaches to. Make sure that this knot is moistened and

tightened thoroughly.

04) Once the loop has been threaded fully through the eye of the hook, take one of the new ACE Pop-Up Pegs (these make attaching a bait child’s play!) and thread the

loop through this as well.

behind the loop knot. This will create a pivot giving the rig a bit of free movement and

help it to act naturally underwater.
