For several weeks we have encouraged one another to pray for God’s leading in the process of Deacon selection. This past Sunday our church engaged in the incredible privilege of “choosing out from among us” (Acts 6:3) and afGirmed seven men, placing on their shoulders the mantle of servant leadership to the members of the Body of Christ that meets here on this street corner. The seven men who will be joining the assembly of active Deacons are: !Trey BelGlower Jackie Bowen Al Dykes Jed Evans
Don Giles Tommy Porter Chris Steeley ! While the men listed above prepare to assume their ministry responsibilities in January 2015, a different group of seven men will be rotating off of the active Deacon Body at the same time. I want to thank these guys for their faithful service over the course of the past three years: !Ben Dykes John Giddens Jason Little Jim Rhodes Jimmy Kilpatrick Joe Meadows, Jr. Don Turknett !
Saturday night is when we switch from Daylight Savings Time back to Standard Time. So when you go to bed Saturday night, be sure to set your clock BACK an hour. If you plan on attending church services on Sunday morning and you fail to set your clock BACK an hour on Saturday night, I can promise you an unexpected hour of prayerful meditation in which to prepare your heart for worship! Btw, have you ever used this little ditty to help you remember which way to adjust your clocks: Spring ahead…Fall back? In the Spring of each year we set our clocks AHEAD one hour for Daylight Savings Time; in the Fall of each year we set our clocks BACK one hour for the return to Standard Time. It’s amazing how a simple limerick can help us remember important information! Can you Gill in the blanks on this one: !
