Dear Recruiter,
‘A smooth sea never made a skilled sailor.’ This old adage has found a new context in the present business environment. With the world no longer bounded by geography or history, current business scenario presents many a business opportunity, but only for those who have the courage and skill to stand up and lead in such tumultuous times. This understanding of the dynamic needs from modern day managers has guided IMI in its endeavor to impart quality education to the Corporate Captains of tomorrow.
Since its inception in 1981, IMI, the country’s first Corporate Sponsored B-School has been progressing in leaps and bounds. With the help of a world-class faculty, a vibrant campus, and a huge alumni network which reads like a who’s who of corporate India, IMI has sure become a recruiter’s dream destination. While our faculty members have made distinct contributions, creating a name for themselves in the corporate world through research projects, EDPs and consulting work, our students have been excelling at various forums, from Inter B-School Competitions to the Real Corporate world.
IMI distinguishes itself from other business schools by enabling students to have continuous corporate interaction, presence of internationally renowned faculty, an innovative pedagogy, and international exposure through exchange programs to give the students a truly global edge.
Look forward to welcoming you at the Institute.
With the warmest regards.

KRITVA’08KRITVA’o8, the annual extravaganza of IMI, was a resounding success. With over 50 B-Schools and 15 corporate firms participating in it, it covered various topics from ‘Hedge Funds’ to ‘Innovative Marketing Techniques’ through various student competitions under the verticals of Marketing, Finance, HR and Systems. Students and Corporate participants alike were fascinated by the degree of innovation and realism in the ideas brought out by the fest. Incorporating cultural events, live case studies, management games which test the student’s mettle to the core, KRITVA’o8 has set the bar very high for all future management fests to come.

The two year, full-time post-graduate diploma in management is approved by the AICTE and recognized by the AIU as equivalent to MBA. The programme equips students with fundamental management skills and in-depth knowledge in their chosen areas of interest. The IMI has evolved a contemporary programme with focus on core management areas and offers carefully selected elective courses, which are regularly up-dated to reflect changing corporate requirements.
Eligibility and Admission ProcessA Bachelor’s degree in any discipline, under 10+2+3 system as recognised by the AIU, is required. The applicants to the programme are selected through the Common Admission Test (CAT), extempore, group discussion and personal interview. Appropriate weightage is given to work experience of the applicants. This year the cut-off CAT score for admission to the two year course was 96 percentile.
CurriculumThe Institute follows the trimester system. The programme has core courses and electives in different academic areas. The first year focuses on core courses, whereas the second year provides a basket of elective courses. The students are exposed to about 300 case studies and different experiential techniques. They are required to do various field assignments as a part of their course work. They also have an opportunity to learn a foreign language.
Summer InternshipOn completion of the first year, the students gain hands-on experience in the application of core concepts and functional skills through a Summer Project with leading Corporate Firms. This practice of ‘Learning by Doing’ helps the student relate the rigour of theory to the world of business. They work on projects as per the specification of the company. At the end of 8-10 weeks of a closely guided project under the supervision of a company executive, the student submits a report to the company. Companies may also offer Pre-Placement Offers (PPOs) to students who perform well during the internship.

Student Profiles - (Executive PGDM, Class of 2009)Batch Statistics (Executive PGDM, Class of 2009)
The placement process starts with Summer Internship Process commencing on 22nd September 2008. This is a rolling process.
Pre-Placement Talk (PPT) provides an opportunity for the recruiting companies and the students to interact. The presentation by the company about itself (history, growth potential, future opportunity, etc.) and positions/profiles available (content, compensation package, location, etc.) gives a very vital insight to each aspiring student. The PPT also doubles as an opportunity for the organisation to recruit the first year students for Summer Internships.
Companies can schedule their PPT at a mutually convenient date and time commencing 22nd September 2008. Companies may send any promotional material to the Institute, prior to the PPT.
After the PPT, resumes of interested students are sent to the company. Details of the selection procedure (Online Aptitude Test, Psychometric Test, Group Discussion, Interview, etc.), can be communicated to the Institute so that necessary arrangements can be made.
