Welcome to Saint Andrews Presbyterian Church

We are glad to have you worship with us today. If something you encounter while you are here moves you to want to know more, there are always leaders up front near the platform at the end of the service to talk to you, pray with you, and help you in any way they can. Pastor Welden will also be greeting at the front door. Let us know if this is your first visit, and if you would like more information about SAPC.

All Those in Attendance Today are asked to complete the tear-off

card on the back of this worship guide. The cards may be placed in the offering basket or handed to an usher after the service.

Available for Your Children Our ushers are available to assist you with any of the following:

• Nursing Room: A room is available on the first floor (#104) for nursing mothers.

• Nursery: A fully-staffed nursery for children younger than K4 is available on the first floor.

• Children’s Worship: Children in K4 & K5 will be invited to children’s worship at an appropriate point in the service (indicated in the order of worship). They will use the exit to the front right of the sanctuary.

• Children’s Bulletins: Age-appropriate children’s bulletins are available in the sanctuary lobby.

For Your Comfort: Elevators are located outside the double doors on both sides of the front of the sanctuary. To help all participate fully in the service, amplification devices are available by request from an usher. Restrooms may be found at the back of the sanctuary or out the double doors at the front right of the sanctuary.

Digital Devices If you have brought a digital device into today’s service, please take a moment to make sure you have turned it off, or to vibrate, so that we may all worship without interruption.

Sermons: If you’d like to listen to the sermon again or listen to one you’ve missed, you may sign up for our podcast, listen online (sapc.net) or request a CD by contacting Jomona Williamson in the Worship & Arts Ministry office ([email protected], 803-888-1716).

Prayer Updates, Announcements, and our Senior Pastor’s Weekly Newsletter are sent out during the week by email. If you are not receiving these updates and would like to, please supply your email address on the response card on the back page and indicate “Engage” (the name of the communication).

The SAPC Offices are open 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., except for Friday, when offices close at 2:00 p.m.

For Emergency Pastoral Care during non-office hours, call 803-318-6136.

CHORAL WORSHIP IN SONG

Fairest Lord Jesus (You Are Beautiful to Me) arr. Sorenson Fairest Lord Jesus, Ruler of all nature. O Thou of God and man the Son: Thee will I cherish. Thee will I honor. Thou my soul’s glory, joy, and crown. Fair is the sunshine. Fairer still the moonlight, And all the twinkling starry host: Jesus shines brighter. Jesus shines purer Than all the angels heaven can boast. You are beautiful to me. Your glory fills the sky. And the wonder of Your love Brings me to my knees, yet helps me stand. Fair is the meadow; fairer still the woodlands, Robed in the blooming garb of spring. Jesus is fairer. Jesus is purer, Who makes the woeful heart to sing. Beautiful Savior, King of Creation, Son of God and Son of Man! Glory and honor, praise, adoration, Now and forever, my joy, my crown.

PRAYER OF CONFESSION & INTERCESSION

Psalm 57:1-3 Be merciful to me, O God, be merciful

to me, for in You my soul takes refuge; in the shadow of Your wings I will take refuge, till the storms of destruction pass by.

I cry out to God Most High, to God who fulfills His purpose for me. He will send from heaven and save me; He will put to shame him who tramples on me.

God will send out His steadfast love and His faithfulness!

SILENT CONFESSION INTERCESSION

For Community Groups

1. What does it biblically mean to ‘pray without ceasing’? Why is this not unreasonable?

2. What are common barriers to obeying this command? Which ones do you struggle with the most?

3. Of the four principles highlighted about prayer, which one(s) stuck out to you the most? Why?

4. What encourages you most about prayer from the sermon? 5. What are some practical ways we can pursue growth in unceasing prayer?

This Week’s Mission Focus: Across the Street

Reformed University Fellowship International (RUF-I)

God is at work and has brought more foreign students to college campuses in the United States than to any other nation. RUF -I seeks to respond to God’s work and obey God’s Word by welcoming students from all nations and equipping kingdom ambassadors for Christ’s worldwide Church.

Rev. Scott Andes; University of South Carolina (USC) Scott is originally from the Annapolis, Maryland, area. He is a graduate of the Virginia Military Institute and Columbia International University. An ordained minister in the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church (ARP), Scott and his wife, Victoria, served as missionaries for many years in the Ukraine. They have three adult children.

Highlights from RUF-I at USC this past year include:

• Three international students were baptized (2 from China, 1 from Iran).

• Fall Retreat engaged 19 international students from USC and 19 from The University of Georgia.

• Arrival of new international students. One visiting scholar from China is a believer; another, from China, has become a Christian and appears to be actively growing.

Pray For: ❑ Growth and fruit among international students who are

hearing the gospel and embracing the Savior. ❑ Us and our parents as we care for them. Victoria’s

mom, who is living with us, is now bed-bound and on hospice care. My parents, Dad was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer is on hospice care and Mom resides in a memory care facility with advanced dementia. It’s a hard time for all of us!

❑ Our children, that they may walk faithfully with Jesus.

The Andes will be visiting SAPC during the Missions Conference Events on March 7. Rev. Andes may be reached at [email protected]
