On the Road with Grade 3Mrs. Brown and Mrs. Alvarez joined our third graders on a trip to the Lowe Art Museum where students viewed “Tree of Paradise: Jewish Mosaics from the Roman Empire,” twelve rarely seen mosaic panels from the sanctuary floor of a Roman pe-riod synagogue. As an added bonus, stu-dents were guided through the museum’s Native American collection, a contempo-rary exhibit by Ricky Bernstein, and the new Myrna and Sheldon Palley Pavillion for contemporary glass and studio arts. After a tasty picnic lunch, each student created a personal mosaic. Awesome!

Able AssistantLCDS has taken a quantum leap in tech support with the appointment of 8th grader Zachary S. as Technology Assistant. Beyond simply wearing an official looking badge, Zach will be assisting teachers with routine printer maintenance and techni-cal issues. This responsibility follows his designation as Official Jr. Middle School Photographer, a title too long to fit on to the aforemention badge.

The Perfect Gift for Your Child will Maximize Your Tax Deductions!

With many of you still shopping for gifts for your children, I want to recommend a gift that doesn’t require a trip to the mall or wrapping paper. This gift is your support of Lehrman Community Day School’s (“LCDS’s”) Annual Campaign, Spreading our Wings, which allows LCDS to continue providing your children with an education of excellence and innovative programming in a family ambience. With the end of the year rapidly approaching, now is the perfect time to make this gift to your child - and maximize your 2009 tax deductions. Credit cards must be processed, and checks must be in envelopes postmarked by December 31, 2009, to receive a 2009 tax deduction. For your convenience, I will be in my office on Wednesday, December 30th, and Thursday December 31st, to accept end-of-the-year donations, and to answer any questions you may have about Spreading our Wings. You may also call me at 305-866-2771 x 23 to make your gift via the phone. Thank you.Andrea Schleider, Director of Constituent Relations
