Our support account has changed little since the last time we wrote. The holidays are a difficult time to raise support, so we instead focused on preparing our house to sell, painting and redecorating a number of rooms. We still need just under $400.00 a month in order to reach 100% of our budget. Will you consider how God may be calling you to be a partner with Him through our work? Like most years, 2009 had it’s share of ups and downs. After ending 2008 with only 54% of our support raised, we ended 2009 with over 96%. This is good news! Feliz Año NuevoThe beginning of the year is a good time for reflection on what we have done over the past year as well as what we hope to achieve in the upcoming year.  Like most years, 2009 had it’s share of ups and downs.  After ending 2008 with only 54% of our support raised, we ended 2009 with over 96%.  This is good news!  On the other hand, after receiving permission from MTW to leave for the field at the end of August, we had to postpone that move due to the loss of funding from a couple of partners, an increase in our budget, as well as the fact that our house had not sold.  News that honestly caused our

hearts to sag, yet remains a part of God’s glorious providential plan for us.

While we are waiting for God to supply a buyer or renter for our home, we have continued to make new friends and partner with new churches.  In fact two of our most recent partners, Armor Bible Presbyterian and Nature Coast Community Church instead of us finding them, they found us.  In both cases the time we spent with them was for us as refreshing as a cool but invigorating early dawn hike in Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains (No offense Cornerstone, I’m

sure hikes in the Rockies are just as invigorating). CONT. NEXT PAGE.

Prayer Requests

“If we are only willing to help the weak when it is without any risk for ourselves, we are useless cowards."

Nicolai Sennels ” 1. The sale or rental of our House. On the market since June 6, we have had lots of lookers, but still no takers. Please pray that it will sell or rent soon.

2. Michael & TriciaAs we prepare to leave for Costa Rica for language training, pray that our transition will go in a manner that brings God all praise and glory

3. Hannah, Amber, & JacobThe delay in moving has been more stressful on our children than we imagined. Please pray that God will be gracious toward them as they prepare to leave for Costa Rica.

4. Our TeamPray for Jose Luis who is now the fifth Mexican national to move to York County, SC in order to study at RTS=Charlotte. Jose Luis is living in the Filbert community and working in at Filbert PCA. The transition from the hustle and bustle of a city of 5 million to a rural community should prove very challenging for Jose Luis. Pray God will grant him strength.

CONT. FROM PAGE 1.

We have a little over 3% of our support left to raise, and will spend the early part of 2010 closing this gap.  We again have permission to leave for language training at the end of February even if that means leaving our house unsold and unoccupied for a season.  Beyond this, our short term goal for 2010 is, of course, to learn the Spanish language.  And not just the way we learned foreign language in high school, but to become highly competent both grammatically and conversationally that we may be better able to bond with our Mexican friends, and better understand their culture.  Our long term vision remains to join Team Northern Mexico and assist the church planting movement in every way we can with the gifts and talents that God has given to us for the furtherance of His kingdom.

Surely 2010 will also have it’s ups and downs.  Knowing this, I am joyfully reminded by the apostle Paul “that all things work together for good for those that love God and are called according to His purpose.”

Grace, mercy, and peace be to you all this year.

Vision Trip ReminderJust a friendly reminder that there is an upcoming Vision Trip scheduled

for February 26 - March 1, 2010. These trips differ from the regular Impact Trips in that you get the opportunity to visit with a number of the different church planters and their churches in Monterrey over this whirlwind weekend. If you haven’t already signed up and you are interested in attending, then please contact Al Couch at [email protected].
