28 August 2013 EditionPresidents Report

I was able to attend and present to the winner (Laura)and runner up (Curtis)certificates in the 4Way Test Speech competition held at Queanbeyan High School at their Assembly last Friday. LauraSparkes won with her speech and she will now compete against other school winners with the bestthree students selected from the whole District 9710 then appear at the Rotary District 9710

Conference in October.

The Charter Night for the Interact Club of Queanbeyan High School Student Representative Councilwas held on Monday 26 August 2013 at 5pm at the School Hall. There was a wonderful roll up ofstudents, parents, teachers and Rotarians to see this hard working group of students be chartered asan Interact Club. Tim Overall, Mayor of Queanbeyan and Rotarian, MC; Maureen Manning,District Governor, Rotary District 9710; Michael Guilfoyle, QHS SRC Coordinator; Natalie Jupe,Immediate Past President, Rotary Club of Queanbeyan, and Ty Phelps, President of the InteractClub, gave great speeches. I had the pleasure of giving each of the new members of the InteractClub their certificates and badges. These events do not just happena lot of work went into this one

so in particular our thanks to Hayley Phelps, Michael Guilfoyle and Natalie, and to the QHCsyear 9 and 10 hospitality students who volunteered to serve drinks and finger food. Thanks Trent fortaking the photos and the others of our Club who assisted on the stalls and in talking to guests .

Our Heros Grant cheque is on its way to us and the Volunteer Grant, DFaCS, was received into ourbank account last Monday.

This week we have our official visit from our District Governor, Maureen Manning, - I hope you allwill able able to attend.

The next RYPEN seminar is scheduled for 13-15 Septemberwe will a few from QHC goingwhich is fantastic.
