A Curriculum Vitae (CV)
A completed Application Form
A cover letter
Curriculum Vitae
• Ensure your CV is not too long i.e. 2/3 pages
• Layout should be clear and tidy
• Qualifications (academic & relevant professional)
• Key Skills
• Work experience – include current job (even if very recent)
• Volunteer experience
• Additional relevant information
• Account (briefly) for every stage of your life since school
• References may/may not be required initially
• Make sure you contact referees well in advance
• Keep CV up to date

Cover Letter
• State the exact job title and/or formal job reference you are applying for
• Don’t copy and paste from your CV to the cover letter
• Keep it short, concise and to the point.
• Close with... ”I look forward to hearing from you. Thank you for your time and consideration of my application”.
• Spell check and proof read (x3) and ask a good proof reader to help
• Make sure to check your phone number and email details
• Avoid unusual or scented stationery – keep it professional
