A great big THANK YOU to Calvary Baptist Church of Edwardsville for hosting the Deacon Training on Friday evening and Saturday morning, March 22-23, 2019. Thank you to Dr. Jim Henry, pastor
emeritus of FBC, Orlando, FL. He was a great facilitator. Thank you to Pastor Rob Schneider, Pastor Brian Bond and Elaine Hutton for your hospitality. There were 45 deacons & leaders from GBA,
Wabash BA and even one from outside the SBC. This was another savings commitment by GBA to Church Strengthening!

Pastor Steve Rice and wife Judy have been at Christway Church for 20 years. The church was planted as
Bethany Baptist Church in 1955 by Calvary Baptist Church in Alton. They later changed their name to
Christway Church.
They host an annual Trunk ‘R Treat and a community wide Christmas event known as Christmas in the Village. They helped plant Crossroads church in Brighton. They
support the Community Hope Center in Cottage Hills and they provide bookbags, supplies, socks, shoes, etc.
to children at North Elementary School in Godfrey.
They sponsor a missionary in South Sudan, Justin Culp and his wife, Amy.
They are breaking ground soon on a new wing that will provide a fellowship hall and children’s area. The
project will be completed debt-free.
Pray that their influence in the community may increase.

On Sunday, April 7, 2019 GBA assisted The NET Community Church in Staunton to put on an
evangelistic event with the West Virginia Bluegrass
gospel band, Chosen Road. During the morning event, two men gave their heart
and life to Jesus Christ, as Lord.

Approximately 85 children and adult sponsors labored for the Lord through Children’s Missions Day on Saturday, March 30, 2019. The day was a great success, even in the face of one group who was
involved in a van accident and heavy rains! We accomplished 10 planned projects! Thank you to our host church, Bethel Baptist Church in Troy. Thanks go to Pastor Tim Lewis, Tracy DeRossett, Bethel
Children’s Minister, and her wonderful team of volunteers.

The six projects to which people may sign up:
Cleaning Madison Avenue: Picking up trash Six Mile Museum: Doing whatever needs to be done for beautification
Mosaic pregnancy center: projects such as cleaning gutters and landscaping Second Baptist Church: Lunch preparation at their facilities
Emmanuel Baptist: Car Wash outreach (evangelism) Onsite prayer teams: Dispersed throughout the projects
Schedule: June 29
8:00 AM - Arrive at Unity Baptist Church for coffee and donuts Jarad Corzine will call us to order; prayer and instructions
Conclude with prayer and song/responsive reading.
9:00 – 11:00 AM Head to the projects 11:30 AM - at Second Baptist for lunch.
We need hoses, buckets, soap, etc. for the car wash. Bags for picking up
trash; gloves; paint and paint brushes/rollers for some projects.
