IFM is excited to welcome Lou Coccia to its team of employees. Lou has been employed with IFM for four

months as a marketing specialist working in all aspects of sales operations and specializing in pump station

retrofits and pump sales. He is working out of our Hilliard office to increase market share in the Columbus and

Cincinnati areas. Lou came to us with twenty-four years of experience at a major pump company overseeing

sales operations for central and western Ohio. There, he was involved in water and wastewater projects from

specifying equipment to start-up operation, assisted professional engineers in product selection and possible

design scenarios and also engaged in various troubleshooting situations with clients and associates. He has

been married for twenty four years to his wife Amy, and they have two daughters Lauren and Logan, both

currently enrolled at Kent State University. They love to travel and spend time boating. If there is anything

you think Lou can assist your company with, please contact him with questions and concerns.

New Employee at IFM

IFM Annual Company Meeting

On January 9th IFM held its annual company meeting at LaRoe’s restaurant in Grand Rapids, Ohio. Twenty-

five employees were present with one year service awards going to Jammie Flores and Gail Nagel and a ten

year service award going to Neil Pry. Employees enjoyed a slideshow presentation reviewing projects and

company growth from 2013. Future direction and visions for 2014 were also discussed. We, as a company, are

very excited about all we have to offer our clients and our continual success in customer satisfaction!

Expanding Operations to the Midwest

Employee Corner

In this newsletter issue we feature Michelle McKeen in our employee corner. Michelle started with IFM in

2003 while still a student at Defiance College. She finished her degree in 2004 with a B.S. in Restoration

Ecology and we were able to convince her to come on board to IFM full time as a lab assistant and operator in

training. It was soon found out that her skills were such that she became our lead analyst then laboratory

manager. She has overseen the dramatic growth of our lab not only for IFM operations, but for outside lab

services and as a support mechanism for our industrial wastewater group. Michelle also acts as our logistics

manager, providing scheduling of all of our services, making certain we have the right personnel with the right

stuff at the right time.

Michelle lives with her husband Kirby and their 3 cats. Any of you who have met Michelle knows she is one

of the reasons IFM is so successful. Her organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to talk people into

doing jobs they would rather not do, help IFM to achieve our goals. Thank you, Michelle, for all of your hard

work!

IFM is very proud to announce that our operations have recently

expanded to the states of Iowa and Nebraska. A major truck stop /

travel center company who has been a client for many years has

rewarded IFM by allowing us to service their facilities in these states.

This expansion required us to hire seven new local operators and put

Ohio personnel on the ground there regularly. We now service 6 water

and wastewater facilities in each state. Neil Pry, our Operations

Manager, has received wastewater certificates in both Iowa and

Nebraska. IFM will be doing lagoon treatment projects as well as

contract operations at these facilities. We look forward to continuing growth in these states and perhaps several

others.

Water Recycling

IFM has had increasing numbers of inquiries from industrial clients about recycling of their process water.

The obvious benefit to this is for every gallon not sent down the drain is one less that needs to be purchased.

We recently installed a combination membrane system that is being used to concentrate chlorides (minimizing

the waste stream) and also add permeate (high quality water) to the process. Even with the O&M costs of the

equipment, the owner has realized a substantial return on investment. Although not “zero discharge,” these

programs help industrial customers get closer to their sustainability goals.

Ten years ago, the cost of the equipment to do these projects far outweighed the cost to dispose of the waste-

water. Today, with water and sewer rates rising to fund the required upgrades to municipal infrastructure,

recycling makes sense (dollars and cents too!).

Support for Heart Disease Awareness

February is American Heart Month, so on February 7th, many of us in the office decided to show our support

and wear our red. Cardiovascular disease (CVD) - including heart disease, stroke, and high blood pressure - is

the number 1 killer of women and men in the United States. It is a leading cause of disability, preventing

Americans from working and enjoying family activities. CVD costs the United States over $300 billion each

year, including the cost of health care services, medications and lost productivity. You can control a number

of risk factors for CVD, including: Diet,

Physical activity, Tobacco use, Obesity,

High blood pressure, High blood choles-

terol and Diabetes.

It is important to Plan for Prevention.

*Get a checkup at least once a year, even

if you feel healthy. *Monitor your blood

pressure on a regular basis. *Get your

cholesterol checked at least once every 5

years. *Eat a healthy diet. *Maintain a

healthy weight. *Exercise regularly.

*Don’t smoke. *Limit alcohol use.

*Manage your diabetes. *Take your medi-

cine prescribed by your doctor.

Learn about your risks for heart disease

and stroke and stay “heart healthy” for

yourself and your loved ones!
