The importance of Vitamin D for the body

Vitamin D deficiency is also called a Hypovitaminosis D. This problem may result from the Low vitamin D. The

main reasons for this stage include inadequate intake of the Vitamin D and also inadequate exposure for the

sunlight, particularly the sunlight with the adequate rays of ultraviolet B. This disorder results in the low Vitamin

D level and also it impairs the ability of conversion of vitamin D into the active metabolites which includes certain

kidney, liver as well as hereditary disorders. This deficiency also gets its impact on the impaired mineralization of

the bone and also causes diseases such as bone softening including osteoporosis and osteomalacia in adults and

    rickets in children.

The problem of Hypovitaminosis D is basically diagnosed by taking the compound of 25-hydroxyvitamin D in the

blood. It is the agent to the 1, 25-hydroxyvitamin D active form. There are mainly 4 groups for the 25-

    hydroxyvitamin D. They are Insufficient 50-100 nmol/L, Mild 25-50 nmol/L, Moderate 12.5-25.0 nmol/L, and

    Severe

The main Vitamin D deficiency symptoms include Rickets. It is a childhood disease which is exemplified by

deformity and impeded growth of the long bones. One of the earliest sign of the subclinical Hypovitaminosis D is

the Craniotabes. Is the abnormal thinning or the softening of the skull. Another symptom is the osteomalacia

which is mainly seen in adults. It is also a bone thinning disorder which is characterized by the bone fragility and

proximal muscle weakness. Osteoporosis is another symptom seen in the patients having the Vitamin D

deficiency. It is a condition featured by reduced mineral density of the bone and also increases in the fragility of

the bone. The other commonly seen symptoms include weakness, muscle twitching and muscle aches.

Some of its risk factors include age, malnutrition, obesity, sun exposure, and darker skin color. It is highly

recommended by The Canadian Paediatric Society that the breastfeeding or the pregnant mother should take 2000

IU/day of vitamin D, so that those babies who are being exclusively breastfed will get a supplementation of about

400 IU per day. If consumed the correct proportion of the vitamin D, the body will get immunity to resist against

cancer. It is also an agreed fact that supplementing a person with good amount of Vitamin D will effectively cure

the gout. It is also found that those people who are obese are having lowered level of vitamin D which is in the

    circulating form.
