your extra pennies with your child. All proceeds will be given to

United Way. The winning primary and intermediate classes will

receive a prize.

RtI and the STAR Team At Meeker, we use a process called RtI, or

Response to Intervention, to help all stu-

dents succeed. RtI is a three-tier preven-

tion process that is facilitated at Meeker

through the STAR Team. In this process,

the learning of ALL students is assessed

early and often. The RtI process begins at

tier one, the level at which all students are

receiving quality instruction and interven-

tions in their classroom. If the student is

struggling to meet their goals, the student

will proceed to tier two in which the class-

room teacher will work on utilizing qual-

ity interventions in the classroom that are

meant to result in the student’s success. A

student might be referred to the STAR

Team at this time in order to support the

classroom in creating interventions that

will help the student succeed. If tier one

and tier two interventions are not success-

ful in helping a student meet their goals,

they are referred to tier three. At this point

in time, the STAR Team might proceed in

testing the student for Special Educa-

tion. Here at Meeker, we want every stu-

dent to be successful; the RtI process and

the STAR Team helps to ensure we are

meeting all our student needs.
