“Expanding Our Connections ” │ Matthew 28:16-20

Jesus’ last words to the Disciples before He ascended

into heaven were to send them out on a mission; the

mission of sharing the Good News of God’s grace with

the whole world. The mission of expanding the

connection He had made with them to the whole world.

The message of Jesus is one of love, redemption, hope,

grace, mercy, and acceptance. Many of us have

experienced that love and we know what it’s like to be

His child. But there are lots of folks who don’t know

that message, who don’t understand who God is,

who’ve never experienced the grace and forgiveness of

Jesus Christ.

We’re in the last week of our series Essential Relationships. We’re going to talk about the most exciting connection

Christians can make and that is with those people who are far from God. How can we connect with those people in our

lives who are sometimes not just turned away from God but who are running the other direction? How can we share the

message of Christ that can change their lives and change their eternity?

This is the unexpected adventure of Christianity! If you’re a Christian and you’re living your life in a way that

anticipates connecting with people who are far from God, you never know what’s going to happen on an average day.

You don’t know what adventure you might get into. That’s what makes the Christian faith really exciting! When you’re

on the front lines looking for opportunities to be able to talk to others about Jesus. That is when your prayer life is most

fervent because you’re praying, “God, I need Your help!” It’s when you’re most dependent upon God. It’s when your

worship is most heartfelt because you’re worshiping the God of second chances. It’s when your Bible study becomes

more than just theoretical because you’re looking for answers that might be helpful to explain Christianity to a friend.

Jesus’ last words to His disciples were, “Therefore go and make disciples.” – Matthew 28:19. He said if you’re going to

follow Me, I want you to go into your neighborhood, into your office building, to your job site, to the hospitals, the

prisons and to the schools, and share the only message on the face of the planet that can transform people’s lives for

eternity. Share the Good News that everyone needs to hear!

Bethlehem First UMC Fitness Center Due to the guidelines set in place by Governor Kemp, we will be remaining

closed at this time. Before we open we want to make sure that we are able to keep

our members as safe as possible. In order to comply, temperatures would have to

be taken for each individual entering the building as well as making sure all

equipment is being wiped down and properly cleaned before and after each use.

This is just not something we are staffed for at this time. Please continue to watch

our Virtual Workouts that we are offering you on our member Facebook page (R.

Harold Harrison Fitness Center Members) and as always, please bear with us as we

go through this transition together! We will keep you informed of our plans to open

and how we will be laying it out. Stay safe, we love you, miss you and God Bless!

Prayer Concerns

a prayer for medical professionals and first responders

on the front lines of fighting the coronavirus

Almighty God, millions of lives around the world are being touched by this new coronavirus. We pray for those who are sick and those who have lost loved ones. In this moment we pray especially for our medical professionals and first responders. Strengthen their tired bodies. Protect them and their families. Guide their administrators and government and private leaders to make and provide the medical supplies they desperately need. Fill them with your hope and your peace that passes all understanding. Wrap them in your arms and guide their hands so that they know they do not fight this virus alone, but that you are with them. Thank you for the sacrifices that so many of them are already making. Please bless them, guard them, and guide them. Amen.
