Greetings Airstreams, Lots has been going on this past month! First, congratulations to all of us as we voted and passed a motion to change the name of our Unit. I have submitted the paperwork and requested that the region approve our change with the International Airstream Club in Jackson Center. Next year we will be known as New York Finger Lakes Airstream Club. There is no better way to define who we are than to have Airstream Club in our name. We join the Penn-Lehigh Airstream Club, Mid Atlantic Airstream Club and Delmar-va Airstream Club as units in our region that have recently made this change to their names. Earlier this month I visited our local Airstream Dealer in Orchard Park N.Y. Colton RV is very interested in working with the New York Finger Lakes Airstream Club on future rallies and events and building a closer relationship with the New York Finger Lakes Club. Upcoming rallies and events that we discussed of interest to them are the “Streamin’ Spring 2020 Reunion” (May 9th), Airstreams in the Park in the Village of Bergen (July 17, 18, 19), and a new rally to be held mid-October at their Orchard Park facility. I am very excited to expand our relationship with Colton RV. We can help them sell more Airstreams by showing potential buyers this great Airstream Lifestyle that we enjoy, and Colton RV will help us attract new members to the club by including the first year’s membership to the Airstream Club with each new Airstream purchase. The 2020 camping season is just around the corner and our rally schedule is taking shape. We still have some details to sort out and a couple gaps in the schedule. Most noticeable we do not have an installation rally on the schedule yet for September. Hope-fully we can close this gap in the coming weeks. Lastly as we close out the year, Diane and I want to wish everyone a wonderful Holiday Season and may the New Year bring many great adventures with family and friends. See you down the road… Randy & Diane

A Bit of NYFLU Trivia!!
Some of us who are newer to the club may not realize….. NYFLU was the result of the consolidation of three former units: Susquaw-Lawrence, Greater Rochester, and Upstate. Consolidation took place in 2002 and a new Constitution and By-Laws were written at that time. Roy DeWitt was our 1st President and remains an active member.
New York Finger Lakes Airstream Club name change has passed

name change online poll.
• We received a total of 34 votes representing over 50% of

We had our 1st snow of the season here in the Finger Lakes. Brrrrr!!! But if you are one of the hardy folks, you have come to embrace the changeable weather of the area. I’m guessing by now people are thinking of how many different ways to use the leftover turkey. Turkey sandwiches, pot pies, soup, the list goes on and on. Everyone has a favorite side dish for Thanksgiving. The one I look forward to is the sausage stuffing or is it the ever-favorite classic green bean casserole with the Crispy Fried Onions or one of the many types of pies. This year we had one pie per person. My Mom went waaay overboard.
Oh well, it looks like I’ll be spending time in the gym this winter! As I mentioned in the last newsletter, the Russo’s are hosting a wine and cheese party January 25th at 5:00 pm-till. We are celebrating the almost halfway to Spring point of the year. Light appetizers, assorted munchies, crackers with cheeses and a choice of wines and other beverages will be available to celebrate the event. As you can see, the Board has been busy planning 2020 events, and we hope to see new and long-standing friends at these events. Our kickoff event for the 2020 season is the Steamin’ Spring 2020 Reunion of the NY Finger Lakes Air-stream Club. Oh, did I forget to mention the NEW name. Yes, we are now the NY Finger Lakes Airstream Club. The name change was overwhelmingly approved by 91.2% of the voting membership with over 50% of the members voting. See you down the road. Safe Travels! VP Gary

FUN AND GAMES JOINT RALLY MAY 14 – 17, 2020
Hudson Mohawk and Finger Lakes Airstream Clubs
COUNTRY HILLS CAMPGROUND, 11365 Muckey Road, MARATHON, NY
Come enjoy the fun and meet new people from NY and possibly other areas. We will have inside facilities with heat if needed. There will be a variety of inside and outside games provided but would love you to bring some of your favorites. There will also be some group games or contests involved!! The theme is fun and games after all!! For those who haven’t been to Taughannock Falls State Park, we will likely visit on Friday morning, weather per-mitting. It is a beautiful, easy, and flat walk. In order to become better acquainted with each other, we will have small Get Acquainted Meetings in the beginning (also known as a GAM if you’ve ever been on a caravan!!) An agenda will be shared as we get closer to the date. If you’re going on to the Region 2 Rally in Kingston, Ontario you can elect to stay until Monday at the reduced rate. Wellesley Island State Park is another destination just this side of the border that offers many sites. Not being sure which day we can park at Region 2 this is a good option if you’re not planning to go home between rallies. Country Hills Campground will be providing the following meals (included in the cost): Friday Night – Spaghetti & Meatballs with salad and garlic bread Saturday & Sunday buffet breakfast (9:00 am). Bring your own coffee or tea. Breakfast is cook to order. Saturday Evening Supper – BBQ chicken dinner, baked beans, cold salad, drink and dessert

Region 2 News Submitted by Rich Short, Region 2 President
Hello Airstreamers, Hope all of our US members enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving on Thursday. Our Canadian friends beat us to it by 6 weeks or so! Just a note to say we have 71 out of 108 sites booked for the 2020 R2Rally. Please bring it up at your upcoming lunch-eons and send out an email blast to your members. Those interested in going should make their reservations with the Campground ASAP and then register on line at https://region2.airstreamclub.net/files/2019/10/2020-R2Rally-flyer-v3.0.pdf The Trolley Tour of Kingston has SOLD OUT and we have a waiting list. It is going to be a wonderful time. If you haven't been up to the 1000 Islands area of NY State and into Ontario you are in for a treat. Thank you for your support. Best regards to all Rich #1512 PS...New York Finger Lakes Unit #002 has voted to add Airstream Club to their name. I'll be submitting the name change motion to HQ on Monday. Who's next?!
2020 Region 2 Rally Highlights!
Rideau Acres Campground:108 sites on reserve until April 1, 2020. After this date campsites will be released. Make reserva-tions directly with Rideau Acres online or by calling 613-546-2711. Discounted rates have been negotiated. We’ll all be parked in the same area, close to facilities. It’s a good stroll to the hall, available throughout our stay. The hall is licensed, meaning that any alcohol we consume there must be purchased from the bar.
Friday highlights: Kelly’s Food Truck, one of Kingston’s most popular, will be on site for dinner. In the evening we will be visited by Phil Jenkins, an Ottawa-based author and musician. Phil hails from Liverpool England but has called the Ottawa area home for many years. Phil has written several books covering the history of Eastern Ontario, writes for the Ottawa newspapers, lectures at Carleton University, as well as entertaining with his music at several venues. He will present us with a delightful mix of facts and anecdotes covering the St. Lawrence River, the Rideau Canal and Kingston, sprinkled with hu-mor and song. In the words of some other well known Liverpudlians – “a splendid time is guaranteed for all.”
Saturday highlights: The day starts with breakfast followed by the Region 2 Executive and general meeting. Stick around for a seminar provided by Kent Stewart, who will talk about Kingston and its military history. Saturday’s is “cooks’ night off” with a catered dinner served by campground staff. You’ll have a choice of entrée when you register along with sides and dessert. Canada Trolley Tour—SOLD OUT. Saturday night’s musical entertainment is by Gib Rozon and The Treblemakers entertains with music of the 50s, 60’s, R&B, good old country and classic rock.
Sunday highlights: Breakfast is an “all you can eat” pancake breakfast prepared and served by the campground. The Ontario Canada Unit’s general meeting will follow that.
