hygiene for all. The Bible given to one young man, suffering from AIDS and TB, became his family’s cherished treasure. Lives are changed and multiple lives have been saved by this ministry. Funds are currently being raised to build a well at The Community United Methodist Medical Clinic at The Dindi Mission. Contributions towards this life saving project can be made by writing a check payable to “CUMC” with “Zim Vim – Dindi Well” in the memo section or contributions can be made directly via our website: www.cumc.net.

We thanked our wonderful families by having a Family Appreciation Cookout on May 20. The Preschool Graduation is Friday, June 3! Summer Camp begins June 20th. The CDC summer campers will participate in VBS! Doughnuts for Dad is June 17 for the Pre-K group Thank you for once again supporting the CDC Tuition Assistance Program through the side offering in May. It is just heart-warming to see how generous our CUMC families were with helping us help the children in need at our school. With your generous donations we will be able to help several families throughout the next school year. Thank you again for supporting and recognizing the importance of this mission. We greatly appreciate it!

CUMC Women’s Retreat

“Reclaiming Ruth” or as Michelle Cardwell

creatively named the retreat, “From Survive to

Thrive,” CUMC women and guests traveled to

Greenwood Hills, PA to explore how our old

testament Ruth made the best of a very rough

situation. As we harvested and gleaned truths

from Ruth and got to know each other, we

realized that we have many women like Ruth

in our church. Our faith was strengthened as

we could see the Holy Spirit’s work in the lives

of these Ruth like women who had

experienced great adversity but who still

continued to worship, praise God, and

creatively serve others. Through scripture,

songs, crafts, famous artwork, fellowship, and

conversation, we acknowledged God’s work

and power in our own lives. We left

Greenwood Hills with new friendships, a

greater desire to serve others, and a

commitment to put a little retreat, time with

Jesus, in every day. We hope and pray that

more CUMC women and their guests will join

us next year!

And the second is

like unto it, Thou

shalt love thy

neighbor as thyself.

Confirmation

2016

Have you heard? We’ve adopted new members into the Community UMC family! On Pentecost Sunday, May 15, 2016, we received into membership five beautiful young people - Confirmands Andrew “Boggles” Bogdan, Evan Buckwalter, Katie Loiselle, Molly Murnane, and Nico Espartero. We witnessed their public profession of faith and their commitment to a life of discipleship. One of the Confirmands, Katie Loiselle, was baptized, confirmed, and received into the life of the congregation through membership. The other four Confirmands reaffirmed their baptism before being confirmed and received into membership. What a glorious morning! Praise God for the Confirmands' act of commitment and for the gracious action of the Holy Spirit strengthening and empowering them in their discipleship.

A thank you note from Troop 458: Dear Steve and Carol, Thank you for coming to our meeting and helping our Scouts earn their Garden Journey Badge! Please accept this donation to use towards the mission of your choice. It’s an unrestricted donation. Thank you, Heather Carpenter

GIRL SCOUTS AND

GARDENING

The Confirmands went through a five month period of preparation and nurturing in the Christian faith and life. All have confessed Jesus Christ as their Savior and have made covenant vows to faithfully participate the church's ministries by their prayers, their presence, their gifts, their service, and their witness. These are big promises! But, guess what? The congregation made equally significant promise to these young people in our renewal of the covenant vows:

"We give thanks for all that God has already given you and we welcome you in Christian love. As members together with you in the body of Christ and in this congregation of The United Methodist Church, we renew our covenant faithfully to participate in the ministries of the church by our prayers, our presence, our gifts, our service, and our witness, that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ.” May we all work to uphold these promises made to one another by the power of the Holy Spirit. Please welcome these young people into the life of the congregation as adult members of Christ’s Church!
