Working as a team, the children will “climb the ladder” to rescue the cat from the tree. 1. Set up the tree, ladder (using 6-8 rungs), and spinner on a flat surface. Tape the cat up in the tree. 2. Child one spins the spinner and shares something about the topic to the group. (e.g., If “Last night” is landed on, the child may say, “Last night, my family went swimming.”) 3. Child one will move the firefighter up one rung of the ladder. 4. Connue taking turns spinning and sharing unl the firefighter is at the top of the ladder to rescue the cat. 5. Peer evaluaon. Adaptaons and Extensions Add addional rungs to ladder Work in pairs: Child two may ask child one quesons about what was spun. (e.g., “What do you want to do today?”) $ Last night, my family went swimming.
