“Sir, my concern is not whether God is on our side; my
greatest concern is to be on God's side, for God is always right” -
Abraham Lincoln
As always the days and months are flying by. There is so many different things going on in and around our Council it is difficult to keep up. Please read this issue of the Patchogian carefully and mark your calendars for all of the activities.
I want to thank everyone who attended the Oktoberfest on 10/19. It was a lot of fun and everyone who attended had a really good time. I especially want to thank Kevin and Bridgette Drawbridge and James and Michelle Kaan for putting it together, and Bill Fontaine and Bill Wallace and Duane Shpak for their help.
We are in the last days of C & B so if you haven’t handed in any books yet please do so as soon as you can.
Congratulations to John Cohen our newest member. John took his First Degree on 10/24 at the Queen of All Hearts Council. Both myself and our DGK James Kaan, as well as our District Deputy Bill Fontaine were there to welcome our Brother John into the Order!
On behalf of my wife Jessica and myself, I would like to take this opportunity to wish each and every one of my Brother Knights and Sister Columbiettes a very happy, healthy and safe Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving comes once in a year, but may the feeling of gratitude live in our hearts all year round. Have a Blessed Thanksgiving Day. Fraternally, Michael Boehm G.K.
May our Council Prayers be on behalf of the following:
Pray for Brothers Jim Bermel, Mike and Janet Recchios daughter Janine, Sammy Garafola, Rudy Carrabus and his wife Vicki, Jim Craig’s daughter Airen, Bill Mones’ wife Virginia, PGK Willie Marciano and his wife Jean, Eddie O’Reilly, Gerri Restifo, Ernie Maller, Andrew Carollo, Ralph DePinto, Frank Cooper’s wife Virginia, Phil Sgro, Robert Naurek, Rich Basak, Rich Costa’s Mother, Tony Russo, Santo Liguori, Tony Baffo, Robert Rizzo, Roy Schiebel’s wife and Joe Fontana and his girlfriend Grace Bessieres, John Orlando, Phil and Donna Butler and Elaine Addie.
Below are our recent notifications:
· May we remember our Veterans past and present on this Veteran’s Day. God Bless. · As we enter the season of Thanks and of giving may we take notice to our blessings around us and look to spread good works within our communities. · May those that are alone find a place to break bread with others. · May the harvest of the season feed the hungry. · May we spend quality time with our family and friends with lasting memories. · May we pray for those that will spend the holidays away from home, remembering the loss of a loved one, the homeless and disadvantaged. · Lastly, Happy Thanksgiving to All Brothers, Columbiettes and your families. Peace be with all of you.
We ask also that you pray for all our Brother Knights who are in need and for their families; those we know about, and the many that we do not know about. Happy Birthday to All Brothers for the month of November!

Different life stages, changing needs You may have a long-range expense for which you are saving, such as college for your children. You may be concerned about a comfortable, worry-free retirement. You may want to protect your ability to earn a living. You may wonder if needing costly long-term care will deplete your hard-earned assets. You want to have something to leave for your wife, children or grandchildren.
At some point you may have had all of these needs on your mind. Over time, these thoughts make way for others as your needs evolve, your finances change and you get older. What is important to you at age 20, may not be at 30, or 45, or 65. What is the best way to be prepared for these changes before they happen? One of the easiest ways to be financially ready for changes that come with different life stages is to meet annually with your professional Knights of Columbus agent, and address the needs that his analysis uncovers. This can help you be ready to face the financial challenges and issues on the road ahead. During that annual visit, I’ll take the time to review your needs, goals and budget. I’ll update all beneficiaries on your policies and be sure your coverage meets your needs. I’ll recommend a program of life insurance, long-term care, disability income insurance and guaranteed retirement products that will help you rest easy at night. Whatever your needs, whatever your concerns, whatever your stage in life, I can help. Contact me today to learn more. Alex Keller, FICF 631-226-3831 [email protected]

Remember to Vote on Election Day, Tuesday November 5th.
We encourage all citizens, particularly Catholics, to embrace their
citizenship not merely as a duty and privilege, but as an
opportunity meaningfully to participate in building the culture of
life. . . . Every act of responsible citizenship is an exercise of
significant individual power. We must exercise that power in ways
that defend human life, especially those of God's children who are
unborn, disabled or otherwise vulnerable. We get the public
officials we deserve. Their virtue–or lack thereof–is a judgment not
only on them, but on us. Because of this we urge our fellow citizens
to see beyond party politics, to analyze campaign rhetoric critically
and to choose their political leaders according to principle, not party affiliation or mere
self-interest.

beer was cold, what more can you want!! It was a lot of fun and everyone had a great time!

work!!
Congratulations to Patchogue Council 725 and PGK
John Terlecki and his Officers on being recognized by
the Supreme Council with the Columbian Award for
2018 - 2019. Knights of Columbus councils have
always responded to the most urgent needs of the
Church, particularly through charitable and social
outreach. In order to support the evangelization of
family life today, each council must be even more fully
integrated with our Catholic parishes. The Columbian
Award recognizes Councils who have been successful
in this area. In order to achieve this high honor,
councils must conduct at least four major programs in
each of the Faith in action categories of Faith, Family,
Community and Life. Presenting the Award is our
District Deputy Bill Fontaine!
Again, congratulations to Patchogue 725!!
Our Councils Annual Blue Mass will be held on
Monday, November 25th at 8 pm at our Council
Hall. The Blue Mass honors all of the Fallen
Members of the Knights, Columbiettes and
Service Personnel.

Brothers, Vivat Jesus! Some reading this have known me since I was a teenager. Others have met me more recently. During the Great Recession I experienced major business downturns. A few, like our District Deputy, reached into their own wallets to ensure that I could afford to attend certain functions. For that I’ll always be grateful. Over the past few years I experienced a comeback. I started again in the sales arena. For reasons every entrepreneur would understand, I struck out on my own. I’ve learned from, and dealt with major financial questions. They include the new tax laws, but also financial issues not directly related to tax work. It also doesn’t necessarily deal with insurance or investments either. Estate planning is something that’s come up on a personal level. My experiences in those situations weren’t linked to any of the above. In 2019, three of my friend’s from High School had to bury a parent. One in particular was a small business owner and a Veteran. I reached out to offer help as best I could. But prior planning makes all the difference. My own father is 72 – and he’s the youngest out of 13! Several aunts and uncles are no longer with us. Some of my cousins had real challenges winding down their parent’s affairs. Too many think that estate planning is complicated or expensive. The short answer is, it depends. There are some simple, ALMOST common sense steps we can all take no matter what stage of life or profession we’re in. That’s the reason for this occasional series of articles I’m happy to write. I promise to keep it simple and basic. Space in ―The Patchogian‖ will only allow for a few paragraphs. I’m also happy to answer any questions you may have offline. Thank you. I hope to be able to assist with any financial question you may have. Note: Any Brother Knight may contact me for specific questions. I can be reached at (631) 943-2600. My email address is [email protected]. Hope to hear from you! Regards, Bill Gonzalez.

THE SENIORS
My Dear Sister Columbiettes and Brother Knights,
Can you believe that Thanksgiving is right around the corner and Christmas is only eight (8) weeks from now, where has this year gone! Better get those shopping lists ready…
First I would like to congratulate our very own Ronny Pliszak on her new position as Supreme Vice President. A sincere apology for not announcing this sooner. Next I would like to welcome 11 new Columbiettes to our Auxiliary. These ladies made their 1st Degree at our October meeting and most of them made their Major Degree October 22nd. Please come to our November 20th meeting to welcome them. Speaking of our November meeting we will have our annual Christmas party complete with vendors and the announcement of the winners of the St. Liberata baskets. Please bring a sweet or savory dish to share.
This year the Knights will be hosting a Thanksgiving dinner for the homeless at St. Francis de Sales food kitchen on November 24th. They will be needing donations of canned food for the dinner, so please bring donations to our meeting on November 20th meeting. We will be helping the Knights serving the dinner.
Please keep all our sister Columbiettes and brother Knights in your prayers especially Elaine Addie, Terry Bobe, Gerry Restifo and Tatiana Drawbridge who will be working aboard aircraft carrier The USS Abraham Lincoln CVN72, we are so proud of Tatiana and her service in the Navy.
Happy Birthday to the November babies.
May the peace of our Lord be with you always,
Betty Weeks, President
